@TheGueroBassist He plays 2 octaves then an open E pull-off to E from G. So the song starts: 3rd fret A string 5th fret G string, moves to down to 2nd fret/4th fret on A and G string respectively, then he hits the open E, then hits G (the 3rd fret on E string) and pulls off to open E. That's the meat of the song.
@TheGueroBassist The chorus part is the same as how he starts the song but instead he plays it on the E string at frets 8 and 7 for the roots. At 3:39 he's playing this and does a little interlude where he holds the notes and plays 8th fret on E, 7th fret on E, open E, then he does a quick walk-up of 8th fret on E, 5th fret on A, 7th fret on A, 10th fret on A, back to the chorus part.
@TheGueroBassist At 3:12 he slides down to 3rd fret on the E string, then hits 2nd fret on the E string then moves up and does a hammer-on from 5 to 7 on the E string and immediately hits 7th fret on the A string twice and then 5th fret on the A string. He repeats that part in the 5th position once then does a hammer-on from 5 to 7 on the A string, then 5th fret on the E string 3 times, 7th fret on E once and slides down to 3rd fret on the E string and then restarts chorus part.
I mixed foh and monitors at Low Spirits in Albuquerque back in 2012 or 2013 I think. Till this day that show sticks out in my head. They killed it and I have to say that mix is probably my top 5 mixes in that room. They killed it!
Saw these dudes live some years ago opening for Foster The People. They sounded GREAT live, tbh I wasn't really expecting it but damn I was blown away and have been a fan ever since. As an side, FTP were epic also
if these guys are hipsters then they're making some good music. id rather be a hipster than a follower of the recent trends in mainstream music. these guys are totally paying homage to funky 70s music.
I personally like these dudes a lot. If you don't, i recommend watching this video. If anything will make you like this band, its this video: /watch?v=F7T5KknVUMw
the full color video is the gold.. who take this decition? White and black do not bring anything to the video there is no lighting for that. take it back please... or send me a copy really love this preformance.
This is the best version right here idc
That s.o.b. can really play the flute! Love his voice too.

Wood flute is played best standing on your left foot with your right foot slightly raised behind your left calf,
Bass line is sick...Shane's the man, funkadelic all the way.
I love you guys. Seeing you groove so freely just makes me so happy.

These guys are actually very impressive live compared to their album material. Go see them asap with Foster The People. Brilliant set

That bassist tho...
anyone else get an MGMT feel from these guys?
after seeing this video, I realized that people in the future will probably see the 10's like we see the 80's....
I look fondly upon the decade I was born and these lovely sound blips :)
Not really, because this wasn't popular in the 10s
straight out of the 80s greatness... at least concerning their attire... pretty great live...

So hard to watch but so good...
Does anybody know where I can get the bass tabs to this song? I can probably figure it out from the video, but the tabs would be a great help.
This song is ridiculous. (and by ridiculous I mean awesome!)
@ThaBassment Thanks alot. It's pretty easy.

Oh...
Why hello there, bass man ;)
@illkandi The first thing I thought when I heard this is that they're a better sounding version of passion pit.
