  • This is my instrumental cover version of Ray Parker Jr.'s 1984 smash hit single 'Ghostbusters', from the movie of the same name. The song was written by Ray Parker Jr. and he played/programmed all the instruments except for the saxophones. My version was sequenced and mixed in Presonus' Studio One Professional DAW using a Faderport 16 controller. The following instruments, effects and utilities were used:
Fender Stratocaster electric guitar through a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal and into a Roland Jazz Chorus-22 amp.
Presonus Impact XT (LinnDrum kick and snare)
Korg Kronos (saxophones, hi-hats, cymbals, percussion instruments, Jew's harp-like synth sound in the middle-8)
Roland Jupiter-X (all other synths, Simmons toms, synth bass)
    Arturia JUN-6 (chorus)
    Presonus BeatDelay (delay)
Arturia LX-24 (room and hall reverbs)
    Arturia Spring-636 (spring reverb)
Arturia VCA-65 compressor (on mixbus to glue the mix)
UAD LA-2A compressor (on some instrument tracks)
Presonus ProEQ3 & Multiband Dynamics (equalizers)
Arturia Tube-Culture (saturation on synth bass and mixbus)
Presonus Limiter2 (soft clip and brickwall limiter)
    YouLean Loudness Meter 2 (free)
    Presonus Spectrum Meter

As a Jupiter X owner I have all your videos in a playlist and listen to them in the background as I'm working. The Jupiter X is the world's most underrated synth. Awesome work -- thanks for all the time and effort you've put in to sequence these classic tracks from the 80s!

Thank you for the kind words! The JPX is indeed a fantastic synth, which is both underrated and, sadly, equally berated. It does suffer from a few design flaws but I have learnt to work around them over the years.

Really interesting as instrumental, accuracy of synth sounds, and a nice guitar!

Ray Parker owned that guitar. Such an underrated player and composer.

@@gcoudert he has that magical soul fuck right hand rythm. And when you see the session work he has done, he should be as famous as Steve Lukather (also a great player/writer) and also 70s and 80s claim to fame 🤣

@CallousCoder Yes, your assessment is spot on. It's a shame he's mostly known to listeners as the Ghostbusters guy. That's only the visible part of his career iceberg.

You deserve credit for taking this one on. It sounds like there's quite a lot to it.
