I’m a GenZ and I grew up listening to music in 80s, mainly synths as the key component(Africa, Everybody Wants to Rule the World). Makes me head bopping and it feels great everytime!
Honestly I got to say, this is the best Synth cover I've ever heard in the past 6 years! Great job! Loved listening to it, and love the energy you this video gives off 🙂
WHAT A FANTASTIC SURPRISE, MY DEAR FRIEND!!!!!!! It is the most beautiful and expressive version I have ever heard... very very accurate in every part!!!!! What I especially love about your recreation is that it sounds as full as the original one and it's not an easy thing. 10/10 FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!!! :) :) :)
I'm chuffed to bits with such a great comment from an expert like you Kos. Thank you so much. Giorgio Moroder is one of my all time favourite producers, so I did work hard on making this one sound full and crunchy.... I'm so happy you liked it. Stay well my friend, and thanks for being an inspiration.
@@juliancroot A really GREAT work!!!!! OH YEAH!!!! I too, I love Giorgio Moroder's works and one day I'd like to do some of his classics like "Chase" and "From Here To Eternity" :) Thanks again my dear friend, for your immense kindness!!!! Take care of yourself and I wish you lots of good music :) :) :)
This is the best version I have heard. The VSTs used are faithful to the original. What are the VST? Love the bass sound. Didn't realise that the original track was produced by Giorgio Moroder - Wow! You do some great renditions. No doubt you've help shift extra copies out Cuebase too! Thanks! 😀👍
I found myself singing all with it, great. funny world, I started re-watching the movie a few days ago. May because halloween in 2 days, and with lockdown, not much going on.
With Ghostbusters, Spirits Unleashed due out next week, I have been trawling for good GB song covers. I think this it the best I've found - great energy and enthusiasm. Just asking, ok to say no, mind if I use a snippet for a sting? If I use it I'll be sure to direct anyone to your content. Again, okay if no - great song :)
Can I use this if I credit you? I’m working on a video and can’t use the original Sony because of copyright. It’s ok if not just please let me know! Thanks!!
Sure. As part of a bigger video, I don't mind you using it as long as I get a mention :). However you should know that my version is copyright claimed, so there will still be RUclips restrictions.
On point again, Julian. At some points it sounded even more like Huey Lewis than the original from Ray Parker Jr. 🤣 Hats off to another great recreation just by listening to the original. It impresses me everytime. Keep it coming and kick Corona‘s ...
Too good! I ain't afraid of no ghost after hearing this remake! What vst's did you use to make something like this? if they are paid would you recommend any alternatives? Kudos to you dude I'm now inspired to make something like this
You can go a long way with free VSTs. I use those that come with Cubase.. Big fan of Retrologue. But of course Cubase isn't free. I make no secret of the fact a lot of my sounds are presets...I just blend loads of them together! 80s music uses a lot of the Yamaha DX7 synth, and DEXED is a free VST in that style. I'm not saying you don't need to pay for anything... But there's allot of pretty decent free stuff out there.
It's a saxophone blended with a lead guitar. I get asked so often about what sound I used for this or that, but it's very rarely any single sound. I get the sound I want by blending multiple sounds together. When the saxophone and lead guitar sounds are mixed in the right quantities (with a little vibrato on the accented notes), you should get pretty close.
Providing I get a mention, yes you can use it as 'background' music :). However I'm not sure what RUclips's policy is on the re-purposing of an original cover song. It might get flagged....most of my covers get detected as an original cover song, so you may not be able to monetise the video.
Most of my covers get claimed like this. Its fine as long as its only a claim, not a strike. You can make a cover of certain songs if the distributer has an agreement with youtube to pass on any ad revenue to them. The trick is checking what will be claimed or striked before starting work on it.
Thanks. I use a blend of several sounds for each part, so its not quite as simple as saying I used 'X' for this and 'Y' for that . However ReFX Nexus 'Guitars' Expansion features heavily for the guitar parts, and the drums will be from Battery 4. The rest is from Rretrologue 2 (steinberg) and FM8.
Its in the original key. From my ears that's F# minor, but it can lead your ears to thinking its in B major. One mistake I've made in the past (Flashdance is an example) is listen to the song from the movie on a DVD made for the PAL region... in which case the film plays 4% faster (owing to the 25 frames per second standard in PAL regions) which then causes the music to play one semitone higher than it should. But in this case I referenced the official single version which as I say is in F# minor.
@@juliancroot thank you so much for replying I love seeing covers played but in the original key can't believe I played this track in the wrong key keep up the good work and thanks again
What a wonderful video. Insane skills mastering all that complicated DAW! And you bopping about just adds to the fun. So glad to see your channel. Any tips for a newbie starting out with DAWs? Which one would you recommend! Thank you!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it. I use Cubase Pro, but these days they're all good enough. Music production is a complicated subject though, and takes years to really master. So if you're just starting out the biggest thing you'll need is patience 🙂
@@juliancroot Thank you for your advice. Is it possible to learn DAW and music production without knowing how to read music/play piano etc? I know I will have to read up and learn the technical details (attack, decay etc!)
@@CyberSystemOverload Yes, very possible to learn without instrument skills, though some basic keyboard skills will help for various reasons, not least for simply inputting notes on to the computer quickly.... unless you just intend to mix pre-made loops, which is not my thing.

The most accurate part of this video is that even as a practiced musician you can't help bopping out to the tune.
I am glad to see I am not the only one bopping away in the studio.
