- This is my instrumental cover of The Neverending Story by Limahl, originally produced by Giorgio Moroder.

I worked out all the individual parts by ear, and produced it inside Cubase 11 Pro.
The keyboards you see in this video are my Roland FP60 digital piano and Akai MPK249 MIDI controller.

It s a best cover of Neverending story! What play in arpeggio? Can you play it alone? its a best perfect arpeggio what i know
Thanks. I actually didn't get it quite right here, but its still not just one arpeggio, but two! The double arpeggio trick is one I've noticed Giorgio Moroder used in a few of his popular productions.
I got it right in my cover of 'Ivory Tower', and I think I'd do a better job with neverending story if I did it again.
I couldn't tell you exactly what i did in this as it was a while a go now, but try playing the second arppeggio as a 'first inversion' of the first... i.e. move the root note of the chord to the top, and the second note to the root. It creates an interesting 'chasing' type of effect, which is why its so difficult to follow by ear.

Thanks 👍. I made this a long time ago now and I actually think the arpeggio part needs more work. It's ok, but it's still not right.
If I was to do it again now I'd do a better job.
I learned from my mistake when I made Ivory Tower which more accurately tracks the original arpeggio style.
Yes, the secret is two arpeggios (each slightly different) running in tandem so it creates a kind of chasing effect.
@@juliancroot I agree not exact but still the best of any attempt. Is it two separate voices or one voice being arpeggiated multiple times essentially?
@@karlknutzen4646 In this I used the same voice, but it should be different. You can hear it in my Ivory Tower how it should be set up... the left and right ear sound different. Admittedly its a different track, but its a better example of how it should be done.

What is the Arpeggio pattern? Is it automated up and down or written in? I'm interested in getting this Arp style. Thanks.
Everybody asks this... It's two arpeggios working together. Giorgio Moroder seams to have used this technique in a few tracks (it's more obvious in Ivory Tower).
I can't remember what I did with this exactly but I didn't get it quite right here and would do it differently if I were starting again.... But you won't get the feel of it with one arpeggio, you need two.

Hi, I created it myself but it was very difficult to figure out and I know its still not quite right.
I used 2 parts together and arpeggiated both of them slightly differently, then tweaked the chord inversions throughout the song so neither part went too high or low.

The Arpeggio here is actually two arpeggiators in tandem.. Each set slightly differently to get that 'chasing' effect.
To me it's still not quite right but I must've made it reasonably convincing as you're not the first to ask.

Great cover as usual, what choirs have you used for the lead melody?
From memory (this was a while ago now) I used a combination of the basic choir patch on my Roland FP60 digital piano, and one from ReFx Nexus.
It's nothing special, and I'd probably do something a bit different if I was to do it again.

MPK the worst keyboard of all time. I don't know why it still works for you. AKA a disaster
@@ilmonello1969while it's not great for emotional performances .....the black keys are too short...I use my Roland FP60 for that, it's great for synth lines as it has after touch, and lots of controllers.
Never had a problem with mine.

- Not al Keys work
- The keyboard changes tuning suddenly.
I will make a video where I throw the MPK AKAI from the 4th floor of my apartment.
Anyway I use a Komplete Kontrol 88 keys as master.
I would say perfect.
