Look at his excitement when he speaks about dope music of other artists. That’s the respect and consideration that a true musician should have. Damn, Dilla, you leaved us too early!! I LOVE YOU! ♥️
Yeah but he never got the recognition he deserved in the 90's. Only later on is when you started seein lots of Dilla Heads. They definitely existed in the 90's tho
Dang, even Jay Fee failed to hit save at one time. He says the lost version of Breath and stop was the craziest beat he's done?? I think someone has that zip disk...
@m100p exactly what i was talking about.. see the light shining through him..Hotep fam, Dilla was that beat genius...and still will be Rest In Power Dilla !
RIP DILLA DAWG. QUESTION: Why does he say (in the beginning of the the interview) that Bilal laid som vocals on African Rhythms? Is Bilal on some other track on that record and he just remembered wrong? Can't make sense of this...

He loved buying records from Japan. Apparently they had the best selection of records. Ive heard this from watching interviews with The Alchemist, House Shoes and J Rocc.
Slum Village also had one of their first deals with a japanese label/record store that would sell exclusive hiphop records in japan before they were even released in the US, people like DJ Babu DJ Rhettmatic and J Rocc found them while digging for records in japan. He also loved sampling Isao Tomita, a japanese pioneer in electronic music, the most known sample being on Slum Village - Climax.
@@samuraishampoo3649 Thank you for you reply. You made my day. Really? Jay loves Isao Tomota?? When I was in high school, I met Isao in person. I and my friends played some unique instrument with him.
even watching him talk makes me wanna make a beat..
J-Dilla was hype in this interview.

Dilla is the greatest.
man heaven must have so good ass music .. all of the best are there and all of the worst are still here ...R.I.P J Dilla
Dilla really love music man. He's very expressive when he speaks about music that he loves.
Gotta love the part when he talks about Bilal's intro on "Welcome to Detroit" 0:23
RIP DILLA!
The “Bilal” album he mentioned was Love for Sale, which it was scrapped by the label. It’s still on YT.
Breath and stop was still hot
I started making beats because of him!! Love You J Dilla!
I really wish he woulda been represented better early on. If he only knew the impact he would have.
TheThirdWing94 for real, the unreleased versions of Devil Music for The Pharcyde are disrespectfully dope!!! I play them shits damn near every day
underrated

TheThirdWing94 He didnt have a lot of music in the 90s though. Fan-tas-tic came out in ‘96

All we can do is dream of working with him
Dang, even Jay Fee failed to hit save at one time. He says the lost version of Breath and stop was the craziest beat he's done?? I think someone has that zip disk...
Jay Dee, not Fee. I should be fined for messing that up...
+Joshua Lathan Sr. apparently his MPC at one time had problems saving, and that was the reason he started wacking shit out real time! (maybe)
Dominic Perera man, probably. That man was something else. I still wonder what that unsaved breath and stop sounded like. Lol
@m100p exactly what i was talking about.. see the light shining through him..Hotep fam, Dilla was that beat genius...and still will be

Anybody knows how come one of his posthumous albums called Jay love Japan? I'm Japanese and I really want to know the reason for that.
