Same with a couple other priests. But she wrote to Fr. Altman, (and she had not sent him any money), and he wrote back right away! The true and the false...right there. God bless you.
I think Bishop Sheen suffered in ways we do not know, silent, secret sufferings. He's that kind of man who would choose to suffer secretly and deny himself all human sympathy and compassion. Just a repeating thought I have about him. In the past 2 months I have listened to over 100 of his talks. I love this man's mind, the way he talks, the way he moves and expresses his voice, his insights and his humour. If I had to pick one person to be stranded on a desert island with, it would be him. What a mind! What a soul! What a gift!!!

No wonder there is so much war and suffering! Just as there is no such thing as a victimless crime, so there is no such thing as a victimless sin. And we see other people's sins far more clearly than our own. We see Jesus' sacrifice and we don't understand how it relates to us, each one of us. We actively seek a life of luxury, a life without suffering, as if it was our human right. We do it off the backs of low-paid workers who barely subsist on what they are paid. It's not that we cannot see the intricate work that goes into making cheap clothes, cheap phones, cheap food. We don't care because we DESERVE. We deserve things - THEY don't deserve - why? It is frightening to think of, isn't it? Lockdown meant i haven't been to mass or confession in nearly 2 years. At first, all that bothered me was no choir for me to sing along with, so i could "participate" in the celebration... forgot about participating in the sacrifice - too busy preparing for the next hymn... It is scary how selfish i was. And still am. Because now i find it hard to remember to go to mass, now that it has returned to most parishes. And it is a scary thought indeed. That the very things i THINK i want/ need are as nothing compared to how much i need God, Jesus - and the best place to find Jesus is in the Holy Sacrifice of the mass...

Glory be to God! But now stay strong in faith and follow the right path because th lord of the world will try to make you change your mind or, simply, to make you sin. I also came back to our Church after a long period of nonsense life, and I am still struggling to be strong and fight against the sin... I dispiace it know because the sin, even the most little, is a wound in my soul and a slap to our Lord that soffered a lot to deliver us from evil.... I thank God because now I can see my mistakes. Attending a Catholic Mass is like being invited to The Last Supper with Jesus Christ and His apostles. Jesus performed the first Mass then & told them to continue His offerings until He returns. Receiving Him In Holy Communion is the most beautiful, powerful & intimate union we can have with our God while on earth. He said the bread He gives us is His Flesh, unless we eat His Body & drink His Blood, we will have no life in us. If we eat & drink of Him unworthily, we are liable for His Body & Blood. Jn 6:51-59, 1 Cor 11:23-29, Lk 22:19-20.
If the people in my parish heard this from the parish priest on a Sunday now I'm sure they wouldn't have a clue what he was talking about , it's like a different religion ,a different language almost to what's there now. Thank God to be able to hear this holy man in 2020 , God is merciful.
Trade these wonderful sermons of the Ven Bishop Sheen for our Blessed Pope Francis's decree of seven (7) minute sermons? I really don't think parishioners want or need a dumbed down Church. Why go to the physical church when we can just catch a 3 minute snippet or two on utube at home in our pajamas? You can profess and encourage participation in the Blessed Sacraments all you want, but unless you give us something to attain to, parishioners will continue to stay home. We NEED each other, we are one in the Body of Christ, BRING us back!!

He reached out to me when I was 10 years old at Rochester. I was his altar boy, 2 or 3 times a week at Sacred Heart Cathedral. He was mesmerizing, something I could never forget.

I always have thought myself fortunate that I could ask him, "Bishop, blessing?" He responded by tracing the cross on my forehead with his thumb. This was in the lower church hall at St. Thomas Moore parish, later cathedral, Arlington, Virginia USA in the 1970's or 80's, after his sermon in the main church upstairs. Another time the 100th anniversary of my parish in Portland, Oregon USA was coming up in the 1970's and I wrote to Bishop Sheen asking him to speak at the celebration, and enclosed money for an airplane ticket. He sent it to the pastor with a letter he signed saying It wouldn't fit into his schedule and to thank me for the plane fare and something about my kindness. The pastor gave me the money and letter. Bishop Sheen did come to Portland in the 1960's for the blessing of the new St. Elizabeth of Hungary church when Fr. Alfred Alexander Williams was pastor. Fr. Williams had been a chaplain in the US Army Air Corps in North Africa; he also blessed our house when we were a young family, going from room to room with holy water.

The priest has spoken Hungarian since 1960, and some ladies from that country provided some small cakes for that class. I said "Father, these cakes are the work of human hands."

I ask myself, there is no way we all can have his GIFT of tongues! Which it really is a H Spirit gift, bcs we can understand him and LEARN. Only a few have this… I knew a priest like him, one soul THAT CONVERTED thousands Special souls and we thank GOD for them!
I can never be sure, that, in my life time here on earth, tell, that I have brought at least one soul closer to God by my words or example. However, by becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, I can be sure, that in my life, I have distributed the Body of Christ to those who wanted to get close to Him.
I send an email to the priest if he preached a good homily. One such priest was a school buddy, another the brother in law of a buddy, and another a 46 year old Dominican who preached on gratitude recently.
We are partakers of the divine nature, not through the eucharistic meal. Its a spiritual relationship not a meal offered daily like the old sacrifices , offered for unintended sins, the temple itself was destroyed and the priesthood and their offerings.

In Act 1 of the Mass the good Archbishop doesn't mention the word of God, but Jesus told us "man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God". To me that emphasises the importance of the Liturgy of the Word as an integral part of the Mass
Jesus also instructed His disciples to eat His Body. Some disciples turned away and left Him. Look up those words in the full length of the passages. Plus, the priests in the Old Testament also ate the sacrafice, it's a Type to Jesus and to eat His body...
When I was 7, I sent my weekly allowance of 25cents to Bishop Sheen. I was so excited when I received a letter back from Him🙏

Find a FSSP Parrish, they are wonderful at keeping the faith true and not make it into what they want.

I always have thought myself fortunate that I could ask him, "Bishop, blessing?" He responded by tracing the cross on my forehead with his thumb. This was in the lower church hall at St. Thomas Moore parish, later cathedral, Arlington, Virginia USA in the 1970's or 80's, after his sermon in the main church upstairs.
Another time the 100th anniversary of my parish in Portland, Oregon USA was coming up in the 1970's and I wrote to Bishop Sheen asking him to speak at the celebration, and enclosed money for an airplane ticket. He sent it to the pastor with a letter he signed saying It wouldn't fit into his schedule and to thank me for the plane fare and something about my kindness. The pastor gave me the money and letter.
Bishop Sheen did come to Portland in the 1960's for the blessing of the new St. Elizabeth of Hungary church when Fr. Alfred Alexander Williams was pastor. Fr. Williams had been a chaplain in the US Army Air Corps in North Africa; he also blessed our house when we were a young family, going from room to room with holy water.

Fruit of the Earth/vine and work of human hands. I was at a Scripture class with a veteran priest, ordained 54 years ago, and some university students in 2018. The priest has spoken Hungarian since 1960, and some ladies from that country provided some small cakes for that class. I said "Father, these cakes are the work of human hands."

How do you know "It is finished" means what you claim?
That's the essence of what protestantism misses. Faith without works is meaningless. You cut yourself off from the one true faith ie Catholicism because of a pius King who put himself as head of the Church. All because he wanted to remarry for sins of the flesh

I ask myself, there is no way we all can have his GIFT of tongues! Which it really is a H Spirit gift, bcs we can understand him and LEARN.
Only a few have this… I knew a priest like him, one soul THAT CONVERTED thousands Special souls and we thank GOD for them!
I can never be sure, that, in my life time here on earth, tell, that I have brought at least one soul closer to God by my words or example.
However, by becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, I can be sure, that in my life, I have distributed the Body of Christ to those who wanted to get close to Him.

I send an email to the priest if he preached a good homily. One such priest was a school buddy, another the brother in law of a buddy, and another a 46 year old Dominican who preached on gratitude recently.
We are partakers of the divine nature, not through the eucharistic meal. Its a spiritual relationship not a meal offered daily like the old sacrifices , offered for unintended sins, the temple itself was destroyed and the priesthood and their offerings.
Jesus told us to eat His body. Many of His disciples left Him when He said this. The wise ones stayed. Jesus never lied...

Jesus Christ died from a brutal death. This is the act of Love by our Blessed Lord for us for our sins. Jesus doesn't want any of us to fall into sins. I know I am a sinner and I can't deny my sins. God knows me very well because of my wretch life. Have mercy on me Lord.
In Act 1 of the Mass the good Archbishop doesn't mention the word of God, but Jesus told us "man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God". To me that emphasises the importance of the Liturgy of the Word as an integral part of the Mass
Jesus also instructed His disciples to eat His Body. Some disciples turned away and left Him. Look up those words in the full length of the passages. Plus, the priests in the Old Testament also ate the sacrafice, it's a Type to Jesus and to eat His body...
