    The blue RG is easily the best sounding of the three, at least on RUclips lol. The AZ could use a revisit though for sure!

      I’m sure the AZ can sound good but I definitely was struggling with it in this video haha. Of course bear in mind that the 42 Gear Street videos are not my usual setting and I only have about half an hour to film and dial something in real quick. Maybe one day I’ll get one on the channel so I can spend more time with it, but yeah without a doubt the RG2027XL sounded the best to me

    The RG 2027 XL is a total bucket list guitar. I had my eyes on one, ever since they announced it. Sadly no stainless steel frets...

      @@falluz You are correct! The Ibanez RG2027XL does come with stainless steel frets. I purchased the 2027XL back in November and I'm still in awe.

    For anyone looking for the rg2027xl, but on a tighter budget, check out the rgi7xl. Basically the same, but with a fixed bridge. Also half the price.

    I absolutely love my RG2027XL. It is such an amazing guitar. I installed Instrumental Pickups SFTY4s in it and it slays. I really want that Iceman 7, though.

    I love the sound of the fusion edge pickups. I wish Ibanez didn’t discontinue that RGDXI series so quickly; I was lucky enough to grab a six string but not a seven before they were gone. Maybe I need to pick on or those RG’s up

    Always been a schecter guy, then expanded my horizons (pun intended) to esp/ltd and then bought myself a Jackson dk modern and a sterling jp157. Realized I’ve been really missing out by being brand loyal.
    This makes me think Ibanez is next on my list to try! The axion label stuff looks incredible

      How’s the schecter hardtails had a Damien with Floyd that didn’t suit me but I have Ibanez ones with the edge tremelo that worked just fine. Hardtail schecters worth it or is the electronics and hardware still under par like the Damien

      @@AdamManley7 I’ve never had a Damien. Right now i have a 6 string hellraiser, 7 string hellraiser, hellraiser solo special, banshee elite 6 frs, c1 blackjack sls FR, c7 blackjack, c1 classic, and a c1 shedevil FR and all of them came with stellar hardware/electronics.

      @@deadspeak1126 it’s hands down my favorite 7. I have a c7 hellraiser, Jackson WR7, ltd sct 607b, and an agile geodesic multiscale and the jp just feels the best by far. I modded it to high hell specifically because of how good the neck feels

    I have the 7-680LTD1, and it is really great, 27" scale, baritone neck, special sound, i have JB7 in bridge position. Rock on dude🎸

    Haven’t listened to My Damnation in a while so thank you for that! The RG definitely sounds the best but I like shapes so I’d go for the Iceman and maybe swap p/u’s. It still sounded perfectly sick though

    Hey Andrew, I love the looks of the iceman looks very Thordendal to me 🤘🏻. Is that the kind of guitar you could put thicker strings on and play in F standard do you think? Or would that be too low

      You maybe could, but it’s a pretty short scale length for that tubing so you’d need much thicker strings

    I have the Iceman 7 myself and the only thing that lets it down, is the pickups. They're not bad but the Iceman needs something that helps it cut through a bit more. Something like the Dimarzio EVO7 would've been perfect.

      Yeah I’m not the biggest fan of the deactivator in my rg8, it’s an upgrade but I think im gonna get a Pegasus for it

    For those that do not know, Ibanez had an Iceman 7 string before. The IC507 went for about $700-$800 USD back in 2015 I think. Maybe 2013. It was around for about a year or two. This model is an Iron Label version. And yes.... Those of us extended rangers can NOT wait for the Iceman 8 string production model. 🤘💀🤘

    I bought the RG2027XL in November (Christmas present :D) and I'm still in awe. I bought my first 7 string back in 2005 and thought my RG7620 would be my #1 forever, but that changed as soon as I got the 2027XL. I threw some different pups in mine (Fishman Abasi) and it now slaps harder than Dawid Zalewski.

      I have several 7620s and other Ibanez Prestiges, but the 2027xl is just a different kind of sexy.

    It’s a good thing you only used the bridge pick up on the iceman
    Personally not a fan of the neck pick up
    Switching it out for a liquifire 7

    Awesome review, Andrew. 😎🤘🏻🎸 it’s pretty cool to see a 7-string version of the ice man guitar. I’ve never played the az guitar before, but I have played the rg guitars(which is one of my personal favorite guitars). Speaking of which, that blue finish on that rg guitar looks nice. It also sound killer too. I own 2 grg guitars in such cool blue finishes and they sound awesome too. I definitely treasure these guitars. Anywho, awesome clip. I like Ibanez guitars.

    man if the iceman was a 27” scale, fuck man even atleast 26.5” scale it would be an instant dream guitar. i’m so tired of super strats lol. all i need in life are baritone ERG icemans, jazzmasters, especially les pauls cuz they have the best looking body shape imo

      Depends on the size of your hands. Short scale lengths actually feel a bit cramped and less comfortable to me and I'm no giant.

      As someone who owns one, it took a little to get use to for me but now that I have I almost prefer it. The bigger frets make playing things on the higher frets so much nicer, but conversely it can make some riffs on the lower frets suck a bit lol. I love mine though and once I got past the learning curve of the longer scale it became one of my favorites!

      Nah it’s not. As I’ve said in other videos from 42GS these videos are done within 30 minutes and on the fly - they’re not meant to be perfect. Obviously if I had these at home with the gear I’m familiar with and more time I’d be able to dial them in more to what I’d typically do

    Andrew or anyone I have a question. What program can I use to Record guitar that’s free and good for beginners? I have a Mac computer and a Mac book air. I don’t want to spend a lot of money. I might be good at recording might not.

      @@nathanielcava4128 Even if he insisted on using that signal chain, he could have probably fixed a lot of the nastiness by cutting bass and treble, adding some more mids, and dialing back the gain like, 30%. Heavy and dimed gain are not the same thing.

    Unfortunately for me the tone on all three guitars sounded just terrible. All of them can sound amazing with the right amp settings and pedals.

    They sounded like fizzy crap. Baritone was passable. All 7 strings should be 27" scale at least. Defeats the purpose tuning to A when it's 25.5 🤦
