I had one just like it, mine had the infamously good, reliable, economical Toyota 2TC 1600cc (1588cc or so in reality) engine. I drove the wheels off mine doing nothing but good maintenance regularly. I always thought a '75-'79 Corolla 2 door would make a GREAT scaled-down clone-copy of a 1967 Ford Mustang on the outside (in every way, taillights, fenders, bumpers and proportions scaled down) with a hot 302 under the hood and a 4pd. I still think someone doing that with one would make a really cool, different, interesting restomod in a video series. ;)

RR, very nice work on all of the planning, checking, measuring, cutting, modifying and fabricating so far on this project. We'd like to see you build a driveshaft safety hoop and do some upgrading/modifying to the rear suspension to go with that major upgrade in power you've got. If you watch the video again you'll see that even with those stock Corolla tires on the back, when you did the burnouts those poor little weak leaf springs and shocks had no choice but to let the tire(s) jump all over the place like hyper rabbits. If you CAN, being as the car is nice, has no rust and looks stock (sleeper city!), put ladder bars on the rearend, better/adjustable shocks and widen the stock rear wheels for wider tires that are all the way or at least mostly inside the fenders...and of course a full exhaust because cops, keeping the sleeper stealth and preserving your eardrums. ;)

Hi.. from Australia 🇦🇺 ... i have a turbo 3rz in a ke70.. there is quite a few corollas here with 3rzs and very fast corollas at that.... 2 youtube channels from Australians with powerful 3rzs are @nuggetgarage and @tunagarage...
Also for more firewall clearance on ke30-55s there is 1" inch gap between firewall and heater box so you can dent/push it in... or if you wanted to go to extremes you can move the whole heater assembly 60mm i think it is rearward in to the car more and still fits behind the dash... this is a jz firewall recessing mod that gets done..
I also will be fitting a 3rz to a ke10 that i have which has tubbed rear to fit 12" wide wheels
If you are rebuilding a bottom end.. it would definitely be worth puting better conrods as they are the weakest part and prevent you going much past 500hp...
there is a company here in Australia 🇦🇺 making billet blocks if you wanted to go upto 1500hp..😂😂
That diff will last ok.. but with the 1st 30 seconds of your test drive.. it will last 3 minutes 😂..
That 73 hilux you have, has the exact right width diff assembly for this corolla 😂...
and you need to fit tramp bars to prevent the leave springs tramping... i used 65mmx12mm (2-1/2"×1/2" for Americans 😂) steel plate 300mm/1 foot long and welded it to the diff.. face it forward for traction or face it backwards for less traction..😂 and i had it bolted around the spring at the end of it which almost made it a solid arm and used the opposite end of the spring for "springing"
