Incredible rivalry, and two great champions. The 40's and 50's had some of the toughest fighters ever. I have seen some great middleweights, but the only one in my life that could have lasted in that era was Marvin Hagler.

I'm proud to say I knew Tony Zale personally...in fact, he was 1 of my trainers...even tho he had over (just guessing)...30 yrs on me, he could do more push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, etc., etc., etc....than me...to this day, I still remember his main philosophy: to give a beating, u may have to take a beating...a great man...will always remember him n be grateful to him...take care...

Clearly Dunphy's radio call was dubbed over the film---Don's TV commentating style was much different than the blow-by-blow account that radio demanded...but anytime you heard that voice, you knew you were ringside!

Regarding Dunphy's many comments, he may have been broadcasting on radio also. Therefore, a blow by blow description was needed.

There is radio recording of the fabled *First fight w\ Dunphy. The crowd noise is so loud it's hard to hear him.
I think there may be a noisy radio tape of the see\saw 2nd fight w\ Dunphy.

Could you tell me where I can go to find these radio recordings of the great old fights of the past?

@alexfromgalax87 The “Ring Announcer” as you call him was Johnnie Addie.
Your adulation of commentator Don Dunphy might be understandable if it relates to his excellent “blow by blow” radio commentaries when you were unable to see the fight for yourself. However, when you can actually watch the fight, it is annoying to hear him constantly describing each and every punch several seconds after you have seen it land. You may like to hear this but I don’t.

I don't mean to be disrespectful here but has Zale had a stroke? His face seems to have slipped slightly on one side and I can't make out what he's saying.

The commentator was so annoying - he still thought that he was on the radio!
