as a guitar player who was born in the 60's I have to say I somehow overlooked these guys even though I heard these songs from time to time on the radio etc. It was cool to watch a bunch of songs of theirs here in the new millinia FINALLY! and find out who they were and realize those songs I always heard but never knew the musicians.
I have been lisitening to their music all my life and this is the first time watch them performing....of course thru RUclips. Gives me goose pimples...really great, will definitely run the clip again. Thanks for sharing !
Still have my 30 plus Venture albums, some in HiFi and then Stereo when I made up one. Mounted a 20 inch theater speaker to my bed frame slats to feel Pipeline. Love them bed shaking numbers.
From everything I've heard about the band, they've managed to stay together by putting egos aside, so there's no conflict. They just have several members that can play lead and bass. Don Wilson is an excellent rhythm gutarist with a frantic, sometimes ska influenced style. In Japan he is known as "Teketeke-san" for his trademark style.
It's the same group that has been playing together since the early 60s (or late 60s in Gerry McGee's case). In this video it's Bob Bogle on Bass and Gerry on lead. Nokie Edwards is their original lead... well actually Bob Bogle was, but he switched to bass... and Nokie and Gerry both play bass sometimes and Bob still plays lead on some... and then there's Bob Spalding, who tours with them playing bass and occasional lead... ok I can see how you're confused.
i know NOKIE ....he is prodigy...genius ..innovator ....you name it he can play it ...very very underated ..can play like CHET ATKINS AND JERRY REED IF HE WANTS TO ...I'VE SET NEXT TO HIM AND WATCHED HIM ..this is simple stuff ...never looks at the fretboard when he plays ...gerry is good but i think NOKIE never has shown how much he does know ..very humble man ...
The original Ventures were Bob Bogle and Don Wilson. Howie Johnson (drums), and Nokie Edwards (bass) were added later. Howie Johnson had a car wreck and had to quit the group. Bob and Nokie began swapping lead and bass guitar duties. Nokie left in the late sixties, and Gerry McGee replaced him. Nokie and Gerry tend to take turns playing in the group.
hope u like it,i converted it from 238mb to 512 broadband, seems its a lil worser in quality but still good to look at(i hope u enjoy and rate+commence it)
I listened to the Ventures in high school, during college, during my career, and now in retirement! I must pinch myself if this is REAL!
LOVE it, sirpeter 1946, I appreciate it - i just fell over for the Ventures at 47 at the saddest moment in my life. Thanks keep it up!
Man, I just can't get enough!! Reminds me of driving in my hotrod as a teenager. :-)

It is strange to hear that despite of development in technology their guitar sound was way better 25 year earlier.

I at one time had every Ventures album but alas they were stolen pissed me off big time.
It forgets and .. The person who performed the base last year changed.
They perform in Japan every year. The player doesn't have the change either.
hah cool
Are they all 33's?
