If the shader is NOT working for you make sure you are in Blender 3.4 AND ABOVE. It will NOT work in versions of blender older than 3.4. Also if you opened the project file containing the glass shader in a version of blender from before 3.4 it will no longer work. You will have to re-download the project file from the my gumroad.
buddy this is friggin awesome. i was just playing around with the previous version of this shader yesterday and was already impressed by it. and don't understand how you could make it any better. but somehow you did and--crazy part is you made it available for free, which you absolutely didn't have to do. so a collective thanks from the whole community. thankx a ton. subscribed forever btw.
Setting depth of field is easier with an Empty instead of a cube. Then you don't have to do the extra steps of hiding the cube from the viewport + render, etc. Just a thought.
Awesome Addon thanks for sharing it for Free!🕺 A quick tip on setting the depth of field I use Shift + Right Mouse button click ( moves the 3D cursor at that point ) where I want the focus to be and add an empty plain axis there. That way the focus is exactly where I want it to be 😄
looks really cool. You are such a nice person and i learned from you that not everything must be perfect for others it should only look good to me, thanks for that! :)
Thank you Atti for your amazing tutorials. At last, someone is showing in relatively easy and fast ways to make really cool stuff with Blender. Have to say though that my computer is very mad at me when I'm following along. 😅
Awesome shader and video, but i would suggest for consistency to not name the Output "output", but rather "BSDF" or "Shader". Names like "RED", but then "Green" are a little inconsistent and i'd argue, that the names are partially not understandable intuitively. It would be nice to know what "Secondary" inputs do without having to go into the Node. But overall it's an awesome asset and i'm glad you published it!
this is so cool!! i'm still new to blender but your videos helped me improve a lot so far. but quick question, how do you make your renders look so crispy? keep up the great work!
Great shader, thanks for sharing! Quick question though, I can't get rid of the noise in any good way. I've rendered 1080p in like 4k samples, and still very noisy without denoising. Then, when I apply default denoiser (albedo + normal), I get a pretty smudgy/compressed look. Any advice?
Glass shaders are pretty noisy, and this is certainly no exception. Unfortunately do to the way that blender process the refraction and dispersion in this shader there just isn't really a way around this. However you can try turning up your indirect lighting and direct lighting clamping. However that comes at a cost to the how good the glass looks. This shader is super stylized and for that reason I definitely can't recommend using it on most projects. Typically I only use it in stills, and I render at around 10-15k samples.
@@attimp4 Makes sense! How long do those renders take? At about 2k samples and for a 1080p image, I get about 10 minutes (1080Ti). Just curious if there's something I could optimize (besides lighting clamping like you mentioned). Great channel btw, definitely subscribing, keep up the content.
@@PedroNGCProductions I usually render a still for about 15 - 30 minutes (3080). I try to keep that as my cut off unless it's something really demanding. Honestly 10 minutes sounds about on point for that card. You can try playing around with render device settings. Most of the time I render in Optix without my CPU enabled as I do a lot of simulations so I need more cpu power for the scene itself. However sometimes I find that rendering in CUDA with my CPU enabled can help dramatically. Just depends on the type of scene in my experience.
Hey, does anybody know why caustics aren't appearing with this? They appear if I completely set the "Clear" value to 1.00, basically turning it into normal glass
Great video! just messing around witht he shader and when I turn off the clear just as you do, the color still does not show. How do I get the colors to come out?

Unfortunately this doesn’t work at all in eevee. I’ve been working on a version for eevee but it’s so limiting I’m afraid there just isn’t much I can add to it right now. However this video goes through what is currently possible in eevee and is incredibly well done ruclips.net/video/rBOHa_jVVRU/видео.html

idk why but somehow mine doesn't look as vibrant as yours. Are there any shading settings that are required? Edit: kind of figured it out? I had to select the "Cycles" render model instead of EEVEE - tho now my gtx1080 screams in agony.

Not only are you videos amazing but also the philosophy behind it is great letting us come up with our own stuff while learning. Thank you so much !
“I’m very proud of it.” Damn straight, brother, and well you should be. Thanks so much for sharing.
This looks so sick, man!! The high roughness on the glass is beautiful. I'm hyped af to use this in a future project lol.
Man this is crazy that this is free, I've been using this Shader a ton and it is so awesome, thank you so much
It's amazing seeing how far you've come atti.
I'm proud of you mate. Keep up the great work.
love you dawg
You just pushed me into making my first blender file and render! It's actually quite "easy" once you start

Quick question concerning the depth of view: Is there any reason why you didn't use an empty for that?
Not really, It's a trick I picked up in c4d, I just default to using cubes still lol

Ho come this new version won't work in below 3.4. i mean when i look at the inouts, i don't see anything which earlier blender version did not have?!
The "Mix RGB" shader became the "Mix" shader in 3.4 so it will try to load a node that doesn't exist.
