Did you say boring, Brian? Not a chance. Any chance to watch Prince perform live is a treat! Thanks for doing the songs from The Undertaker. Great guitar expressions, btw.
Prince must have liked Bambi also, it was originally on his second album but he played it off and on throughout his career. I love it too, it's a great rocker. Prince was a master of the stage, what you are seeing is silent Hollywood, à la Charlie Chaplin. You could see this in David Bowie and Kate Bush.
Excellent choice. I love the undertaker and wish the estate would issue it on vinyl and blu ray, easy money for them. You clearly love Bambi as you pull the same faces and make the same noises that we all do 😀 keep up the excellent work, love your channel 💜
Ngl, i clicked ‘like’ before even watching your review. I just knew it would be enjoyable. That NPG power trio of Prince, Sonny T & Michael B are always a great combination!
Juergen, thank you. After I watched this video I looked through his rack effects and figured that might be some of those harmionized/octave sounds. What a cool unit, I remember when they where popular.
To be honest I listened to this without the video. The pretty lady was too much of a distraction. I wore it out on m VHS back then. I just couldn't with her. I just pumped it up to 11 on my headphones!
Hey mate, What a wired version of Bambi, I bought this VHS tape back then...still got it. Sonny T's pulsating bass...Princes mentor back in his neighbourhood days. I notice Princes guitar playing throughout this whole session... quite offbeat and almost at times anti, if that's not too strong a term...guitar riffing. Nevertheless, Bold...non conforming and exhilarating. Good one Brian.
Thanks so much and this truly is of the beaten path for Prince. Maybe? I have mentioned many times, it would have been incredible if he did this with later versions of the band. I’m sure there stuff in the vault that would be mind blowing. I really appreciate you watching and digging Prince with us all.
@@GuitarSoloReactions I was thinking about how creative Prince was outside of music. He was a very funny guy. Not sure if you've seen these: ruclips.net/video/Hi8JOqTE2og/видео.html ruclips.net/video/zLrgDvxnIfw/видео.html
Just as a thought exercise, Brian... Do you think if this had been given away as a CD cover mount on the Guitar World magazine, would it have opened him up to a new audience? I ask an obvious question because I wonder if the bits with Vanessa Marcil and the whole weird hippy druggy style editing might have been enough to distract from the music.
I doubt it would have done much as far as a new audience. 50,000 copies would have yielded some attention, but when some go and buy the next record or a old record, they find that it’s not wall to wall guitar playing they would move on. I’m sure some like myself would find merit it the song writing, it’s obvious that he wanted to be considered a good guitarist. That’s the only thing I can think of with that kind of promotion from a very successful musician.
@@GuitarSoloReactions I tend to agree. I think Warner Bros and his manager Alan Leeds were right to stop it from happening. I appreciate the intent. I just think he didn't realise that the result wouldn't be what he intended. It would have made sense for him to do something like Crossroads to be seen as a guitarist more but he wasn't really one for sharing a stage on less than his own terms at that part of his career.
@@GuitarSoloReactions I believe Bryan from Yes You Can Play Guitar has invited you to have a chat? That should be good fun. I could join you both if you'd like to fill in the trivia blanks?
The only guitarist I know, that could make a guitar talk.
Incredible artist

That would be great if you joined us, I didn’t see any mention of me in recent videos, but I will email Bryan and see what we can can arrange.
