Don't forget to check out the description of this video for the free figma template for line-length! (Note: It's set for 18px, and if you adjust the font size, you will have to adjust the # columns with it!)
Yes but be aware that it's not always correct. It measures by the 0 character. If you place dots you may fit more than a double of those in the same space.
I'm suuuuuuper digging that studio background. The racks and old TV's are my jam. It's kinda low-key vibing 80's cyberpunk. Also, do the younglings of today even know who Slayer is? They're missing out.
I always have problems with bigger screens. One laptop website looks great but on for 4k monitor ehh.... Of course we can make another layout for big screens but that is too much work (not in budget). Do you have any advance for that?
Books typically are not over 14" wide diagonally... The point is that your Fovea, the part of the eye in its center that high resolution enough to read easily is relatively small - so actually reading on a widescreen monitor means having to move the eyes scanning left to right constantly. A book with its much much smaller horizontal width usually enables you to have the entire row width imaged in your fovea. This of course only applies to normal vision, glasses and other vision impairments mean extra work for the eyes even with books.
Lol. I happen to use Figma as my design tool. Most (if not nearly all) use a single tool for a single purpose. I used to teach almost exclusively XD up until last year, but for a few reasons I've switched.
@@DesignCourse i see. Dont you think its pushing every to learn another tool just to make sense of yr course. This video does not really need figma. Using figma for graphics i understand. It like using adobe xd.
@@truthteachers I chose figma because it is the most popular UI/UX Design tool by *far*. This is backed up by large polls. Why would I teach it with a tool that's not as popular? I want to maximize who can watch.
@@DesignCourse i dont use Figma, but i understand why people do. And it makes sense that you use the most popular tool. Doesn't stop me from watching the videos.

Great work Gary! Can you do a tutorial for a multipage website, from design to code? I'd love to see that XD
I read that article a long time ago and I still use those principles today. Extremely helpful.
In CSS you can set the width of the div to 65ch. It might be helpfull as well :)

Thanks for that plugin!

Thanks for this amazing Tutorial !! This will really help in my works !!👍🏻
Slayer? I didn't think you could go further up in my estimation but you just did!
I always try to go with the old 700-800px rule. Body copy shouldn't be wider than 700-800px.
When I’m auditing websites, lIne length, as in they are too long, is one of the most common mistakes in see.
Nice one Gaz. But what about your hair length? :)

What resources despite baymard and NN do you know? I am looking for good researches about ux ui backed with statistics
This would mean virtually every book ever published would be wrong - !!!

Thanks for love ❤️❤️❤️
This guy is so stuck on figma i have no confidence in his recommendations and professionalism. Too much skewed opinion. Sigh!

Figma is free and doesn't require an install. I find it slightly easier than using XD, too. Even after coming from XD. I really don't see the problem.

These principles cannot possibly apply to mobile designs.
