Cool video Hashem. I totally love ProImage 100. For the price you cannot beat the results. It takes flash in the studio real great as well. This together with ColorPlus are my favorite color films.

Hi! Yeah I haven't made a specific video about it, but have used it for a long time. I often use it for street work, and show examples and talk about it a but in some of my "contact sheets" live streams.

Definitely a portra like film. I also found it gave a good result in the evening golden light.
Its a great film - shooting it since 2018.

The first time I tried it I didn't give the film the light or the respect it deserved, keen to give it another go after watching this.

Unfortunately the kodak pro image is costlier than KCP as well as Gold here, but i agree very much with your insights..this too my go to roll apart from KCP and definitely shoot for portrait with great color skin tone rendering… while i love the portra but i didnt shoot as many as pro image due to its cost
You may have mentioned it but the added benefit of this film is that is was made for hot and humid markets so it doesn't necessarily need to go in the fridge and, I'm just guessing here, because of this should last longer in the camera before needing to be developed. I've got some ready to go after I finish trying out Lomo 800.

I enjoyed watching this, I've never personally shot with this film stock before as film is relatively new to me, but after watching this I'm certainly going to try it out. Portra in the UK is around £60 for 5 I think which isn't badly priced for what it is but I'm not confident enough to spend that money and get it wrong.
I personally really loved your nightime images with this film, I thought the colours were really nice and vibrant. They were right up my street

I really like these images and the color tones look really nice Hashem. I have been over exposing this film 2stops over to try to match the Portra look without loosing too much details. Great looking results!

@@pushingfilm I personally love the look and others that have shot with it tend to be more critical about it in general sense. I love exploring new ways of achieving looks that Portra or Fuji Pro 400H had in cheap commercial film grains because eventually they will be no longer available as well.
i actually liked a lot the colours and i have to say I've never tried. I will give it a try. And if you develop at home is less than 10e for a 36 exp in colour... good deal.
I haven't seen this film in stock in America since September 2021. Yet it's kept consistently in stock Europe and Asia. Makes me wonder if this stock got the Velvia 100 treatment and got axed

I really like this film have shot a lot of it, it’s my everyday colour film. It’s cheap (relative) here in Australia. It’s a good film. In an ever ongoing quest to find value for money, I’d like to be able to bulk load colour. have been thinking about vision 3 250D and C41 process at home.
Nice! I've gone down that same 250D + C41 route and loved the results. Just started a bulk roll of 500T now... Either way, I can definitely recommend them if you want to bulk load colour film and process yourself.
oh that's weird that Pro Image is more expensive than Colorplus and Gold in Australia, in the US it's actually cheaper and comes out to like $6.39 per roll where gold and colorplus are currently retailing for $6.99 a roll over here.
Yeah! That used to be the situation here, too. I used to buy the pro image 5 packs for 20-25 dollars, now they're 45 :( it could be that retailers caught on and marked it up, on top of Kodaks price rise.
Not just that, but it's 9€ in Europe, whereas Portra 160 can be had for 10€. So basically the same price. I bought a 5-pack a few years ago when it was still 5€ per roll
it used to be my fav budget film, but i kinda get tired and switch to ultramax, it used to cost like $2 usd here in mexico, today cost like 3 times that, same with ultramax, now i go with Fuji c200 for budget everyday snapshots which still like $5usd

Yeah, had to pay premium today, for some Ektar 100. That's what the Praktiflex FX, (I just rescued), asked for.
I recently got a roll of pro image but I am hesitant to shoot it, because it got sold out in my country a few days after that!! Kodak color plus 200 is sold out in my country too!! For almost a year I haven't bought any color plus because of it!!
I've used Proimage using isos from 50 to 1600 with decent results If you know what you are doing, VERY AMAZING emulsion..

Its has good colors, I like.
But I found its latitude to be lacking, highlights lose detail pretty soon and in a high contrast situation, metering can be a little tricky. Still great budget color choice.

Hi, this depends on the situation! It would be best to use your camera's light meter if it has one, or a separate one. Start by setting the camera or separate light meter's ISO to 100, and it will tell you the other settings based on how bright or dark the scene is
i personally don't shoot proimage because of it's low sensitivity. as someone who likes overexposing film by a stop, it's not very versatile. i'd rather shoot colorplus or ultramax as their grain is alright and their colors superb.
Are you aware of any resources that show clear controlled (as much as that is possible) side by side comparisons between each of the different film stocks? I’m just getting started and I certainly can’t afford to fully trial and error and learn them as I go the way I'd want to so a clear guidestone would be great.
The best one I've seen is in physical book form. It's called "Flavr - A Film Reference Book" by Gustav Kollar. The variables are well controlled and it has many film stocks. But, it might be expensive or hard to find (not sure if there's a PDF option!) Otherwise, you can check out sites like The Darkroom if you search for "A comprehensive index of photography film"
Given that’s the grain is barely different from Kodak Gold, according to the data sheets too, I prefer the flexibility you have with an extra stop of light. Especially when it’s based on what used to be Kodak Gold 100. Labelling it *Pro* is almost like a placebo effect as I get the same colours out of Gold too.
I have found some expired rolls of this (2008 - fridged) at 20€ per pack of 5. I think I'm going to give it a go. Anyone has experience shooting expired Pro Image? I would like to know. Also this film had been marketed by Kodak for room temperature storage and more tolerant in high temperatures and wet climates.
I shot some proimage 100 in 120 size that expired in 2004. I don't know how it was stored but it did fine especially rated at 50.
Kodak Ultramax is Kodak Gold 400 while Kodak ProImage 100 is Kodak Gold 100.
I like the colors but the dark seem too dark and the whites too light.
Never tried this film , but now i have seen the results i use colour plus and gold
This film is good but when I want that look I can get Kodak Gold for 2,6€ per roll when I’m lucky. It’s very gorgeous and a stop faster. But the best film on a budget is Fuji Superia 400 in my option. It’s super flexible and the third or maybe even second best film to shoot under tungsten lighting. Even if it only got three layers now. And I can have it for less than eight bucks anytime I want. Provided I order it.
The best thing I can say about this film is that: it's not terrible. It's basically some sort of old Kodak Gold formula, 100 speed though, but not fine grained at all. It's quite yellowy and grainy and vintage-looking. It's definitely not a 'pro' film stock, at all. I have SIX rolls of this damn stuff in my freezer! It will get shot eventually, but it's not my first choice film stock, not by a long way.
I tried it and hated it. It's the first film I shot that I truly disliked.
