      The sole reason to play ranked is packs. Rank does not matter, neither do backgrounds and charms (since visuals don't mean jack). Getting reset to 0 just cause it's "visual" is incredibly dumb and needs to be changed. It's annoying to climb 20h back up to old visual rank just to try and go higher (dunno how'd that go, since you get matched with peeps your level)

    The rank system when playing soloq shows how rank works, i.e. it doesn't work at all, because you have 50% to win and lose. The ranking system should evaluate the skills of the player, not the team, and CS GO is a good example here, because even if you lose, you can get promoted.

      If that were the case, a game like CS GO would have gone out of business long ago/had a bad reputation for ranks and Valve would have quickly changed the rank system if it was bad, which it isn't. If you are still not convinced, they should make ranks the same as on Faceit, which is even better, this system is similar to the topic I discussed earlier.

    • @Onizuka77
      @Onizuka77 10 месяцев назад +1

      Currently, there is no point in playing ranked, either solo or with friends. The current system shows that you have to have a very good 5-person team and give your all even after playing many matches, because then you fight for 3 mmr for a win, and if you lose, you lose 20/30. this system is very tragic for all players except pro players who play in the team, so they should listen to the players, not pro players. I won't mention the player pick-up system because it doesn't exist either and there is a Mix of Ranks, which shouldn't be the case in a ranked game.
      To sum up, the ranks now mean nothing, because this mode is so broken that you can ask your champion friends to play with you, and at that time you can go afk or watch something on netflix and at the end of the season you will still get a higher rank than you deserve.

      I'm the guy that sets up site, denies info, plays the objective and quite often clutch rounds because of this. Despite not being a crazy fragger due to issues I have as a player, I score at the top of the leaderboard in a majority of my games. (point wise)
      So I don't think it would make players be more selfish, because if you play the game RIGHT you'll be rewarded and coincidentally, playing the objective, providing or denying information etc... All leads to more points, meaning you could ideally get pushed into a rank with like minded players if they used the point system.

    A really fun thing about Ranked 2.0 is how my friend who I play every game with won a couple games without me in solar raid, as my old pc kept crashing, and now because of those COUPLE matches in the first season with ranked 2.0, he ends up a rank higher than me every season.
    In a game where I top frag and he goes negative, he will always gain 2-5 RP more than I do. It is literally impossible for me to obtain a higher rank than him without playing without him, which I really can't be arsed doing because I find solo siege very boring.

      funnily enough that would actually be a problem with Ranked 1.0 too. even though they reset your rank every season it wasn't a full reset. they would average your final rank from the previous season with the "default" rank that's supposed to be the average of all players (i think it was gold 2 or 3). so even starting a new season your friend would be ranked slightly higher than you

    What I hate about this system is that if your hidden MMR is high it becomes a huge meaningless grind to get to your rank. The game gives you so many points for winning and takes away so little for losing that u don't even feel invested in the ranking process. This past season I played more or less 120 ranked games to get to emerald which is where the game thinks I belong. But the system doesn't reward u for trying to achieve higher ranks as it starts giving u almost no points for winning because the system determines that u have already reached your rank. Whereas before u got to ur "actual" rank faster and u could focus on trying to rank up, instead of having to grind through 100+ games of ranked before u can start to do so. If I'm an emerald player and I want to try and push myself to reach diamond (for example) I have to grind through hundreds of "pointless" games to get to that process, and not everybody can invest that much time into the game. I know rank isn't everything that matters and I obviously enjoyed many of my games during the past season, but the gamemode is called ranked for a reason, pushing yourself to get to a certain rank and having to make every game count because you can lose MMR is part of the thrill and the fun.

    One correction in the video that I believe is still true from ranked 1.0, is that players queued together of differing skills will not have a disparity in how much they gain or lose from a match. It is only based off of the average of your team's MMR vs the enemy team's MMR, and how many games each individual player has played. This is because the advantage or disadvantage of having a ranked disparity on a team is already factored into the MMR calculations before the game starts. If a true diamond queues with four true golds, and they're matched against a team of five true plats/emeralds, and the game believes the plat team has a higher average MMR, the diamond player will gain more mmr than normal because the game perceives it as a more difficult win.
    This also brings up the topic that everyone seems to ignore, which is that for the first time in several years boosting is just blatantly allowed cause anyone can queue with anyone. I'm a true diamond player but I play ranked with my IRL friends a lot who are gold-bronze and the game doesn't seem to care.

    If skill level went up by actual player stats(kills, deaths, assists, plants, wins and loss etc… instead of just Win/loss the game would be in a better place and you would see more players with the same skill matching up. This system encourages boosting and smurfing. If you want to hit a high rank you legit just need to play with people and communicate. Hidden MMR needs to go, keep the same RP system and make it actual SKILL based. The system is completely far gone at this point. Nobody going 0-5 auto piloting all rounds should be getting elo for legit being there. It’s a participation reward.

    The closer you're to finishing a full rank, the harder it gets to increase your rank points, and the points loss when losing is higher.

  • @paulzhu2467
    @paulzhu2467 10 месяцев назад +6

    I understood what you were explaining in the video because that’s what Ubisoft said officially. However I think there is one phenomenon that Ubisoft‘s post doesn’t explain. According to Ubisoft, your visual rank is meant to converge to your hidden rank so if you’re below, you gain more than you lose and if you’re above, they artificially set a ratio of +25/-20. (Not sure if it’s still the case I’m going off of y8s1) So if this was the case, as you climb the ranks, you can expect a gradual decline in the amount of RP you win and a increase in the RP you lose. And once you hit your hidden rank, you can expect to have the same preset result each game. What I don’t understand is why is it that whenever I’m on a winning streak, my RP gain will always increase by 1 for each game I win, and vise versa for losing. For example, I would start the day getting +25/-20, and if I win 2 games in a row, I would get +27/-18. This happens at any point as I observed as well as numerous streamers including KingGeorge who made a RUclips video mentioning it. And to me is counter intuitive since as you win, you can always expect to be gaining less and less RP since the game wants to make sure you land at your rightful rank. And you will always lose less since the game should try to drag you back to where your hidden rank is. I hope my explanation makes sense. The only time the system works as it promises is when you maintain a 1:1 win/loss. I would love it if some one can help me understand this because I have given up trying to apply logic to this and simply regard it as a programming error. Because imo this one quirk makes the shown rank actually completely pointless apart from being an artificial incentive to play ranked and earn packs and charms.

    • @hanslhansl
      @hanslhansl 10 месяцев назад

      Winning doesn't only affect your (visual) rank it also affects your skill (hidden rank). If you win you gain rank points as well as skill points. If you play a lot the system is pretty confident with its estimation of your skill and you will gain less and less skill points while you could still be gaining a lot of ranked points (e.g. after a rank reset every season). However if the system is not confident with its estimation of your skill you will gain a lot of skill points per win. Could it be that you are gaining skill points faster than you are gaining ranked points and therefor the gap between your rank and skill actually increases when you win? An increased gap would automatically have the system award you more rank points as the gap between those stats are exactly what the amount of gained rank points are based on.
      Btw. everything said about winning games/gaining points also holds true for losing games/losing points.
      It should also be mentioned that everything I just wrote and AFAIK everything Coreross said in his video is based off of information provided by Ubisoft. Ubisoft however is notorious for (intentionally or unintentionally) publishing wrong stats/info about R6. Rogue-9 uncovered countless of such cases.

    • @LokNarash
      @LokNarash 10 месяцев назад +1

      Every time you win, the game adjusts your skill rating up. So the system thinks you are a higher rank than it thought before and this change gets reflected in the slightly different RP

    • @paulzhu2467
      @paulzhu2467 10 месяцев назад

      @@LokNarash Indeed it does affect your hidden rank. But by that logic, it would mean the hidden rank adjustment is more significant than the shown rank adjustment and is not consistent because if you’re winning more and more RP for a win streak, that means your hidden rank increases at a higher rate than your shown rank as demonstrated by you gaining more RP per win. Also, if that’s truly the case, there is no justification for fixing the RP gain after a certain point because as Ubisoft stated, they artificially set an amount for each game after you reach your hidden rank so player can have “a sense of progression.”

    As a programmer, I have researched everything I can about the matchmaking system.
    I’ve found ways to abuse the ranking system due to RP and hidden MMR being separate and hidden MMR not changed between seasons.
    The last two seasons to both negatively affect my rank and position inflate my rank.
    I was able to reach emerald 1 being nowhere near that skill level.
    I honestly could reverse engineer the ranked 1.0 and 2.0 algorithms with relatively low effort.
    I’d honestly like to program a ranked algorithm that factors in W/L as the main input method for data manipulation and match performance playing a minor role by multiplying the MMR increase and decrease to make solo queuing feel more fair if you’re carrying. But k/d wouldn’t be the main factor.
    One thing that is apparent is that placements need to return, but I would choose a soft reset be used in between seasons within a given domain.

    Interesting video. How would you like the Ranked system to work?
    As there are varied roles and a limited number of kills per round it seems to me keeping the ranking simple is the best way. For example how do you incorporate good calls that enable other people to score more kills into skill? Admittedly I am quite new to the game,, are kills spread quite evenly across players in pro teams?

    When they announced the new ranking system in one of their videos they said the problem with the old system is that it tries to predict your rank and then get you there and hold you there. As far as I'm aware thats exactly what ranked 2.0 does too so I don't get how that's any better. Anyway I deleted the game two months ago so may come back if it gets better.

    in simple terms from what i found out in tdm (i was top 50 in tdm and tracked it every day)
    high kill count + kd + win = a lot of skill points
    high kill count + kd + loss = a bit of skill points
    low kill count + kd + win = no skill points or negative skill points (depends how bad your kills/death amount is)
    low kill count + kd + loss = lose a LOT of skill points
    for people who don't know, tdm back when mmr was visible gave more mmr for higher amount of kills and less deaths so better kd would mean more mmr based on the amount of kills ofc.
    I was in top 50 ish mmr wise in tdm and tracked it almost everyday.
    So what I think is that ranked 2.0 creates your baseline during your first 10 matches of ranked 2.0, if you never played ranked 2.0 before you gotta tryhard your kd and kills instead of just win/loss but if you have already played ranked 2.0 on your season you are screwed and your baseline is already set.
    (also a loss with a high kill count + kd will actually give you mmr in tdm and I think it adds mmr to your baseline skill level aswell so just focus on that instead of winning)
    you can't easily bamboozle your baseline skill if you already played a season of ranked 2.0 and just have to grind a high rank so it will shift you slowly each season.

You can rather have placement matches that can just drop you into your rank pretty much right away or have it where they set you back a couple ranks like from champion to diamond or emerald or from plat to gold or silver. Instead of everyone starting in copper at the beginning of the season. And for ranked rewards they can do something similar to rocket league that way you don’t just automatically earn next seasons ranked rewards.

    I almost think they should extend the concept of placement matches from Ranked 1.0 to Ranked 2.0 and simply hide your rank just like they do skill for the first few games. People would play more instead of seeing copper and giving up -- simply for anticipating what their visual rank is. Then, the game can have a target for ranking up: "win 2 more games to rank up" to add motivation.
    Skill is hidden and RP gain/loss isn't shown past the post-game menu, so unless the main menu tells you how many games you need to rank up, it is impossible to calculate without going to a tracker website or paying attention to a particular tab in the post-game menu.

    So in ranked 2.0, the visual rank is more of a representation of games played + skill rating (weighted towards games played). If your hidden skill rating correlates to a visual rank “cap”, then the more games you play will bring you closer and closer to your visual rank “cap”. If your skill level is based on wins and loses, the better your W/L the higher your visual rank “cap” will be. Thus giving you a higher rank. This seems fine to me. What’s the big deal?

    I do think that if you play a lot of matches in a given season, maybe 100+, then your visual rank is probably a close estimate to your skill rating. Coreross is right that your visual rank doesn't have a bearing on your matchmaking, and I have plenty of friends who are good players and end in silver because they only played fifteen matches in a season, but when you get to the point that you are only getting +28 per win in visual rank, I think it does start to reflect the skill rating behind the scenes. Basically what Coreross said about reaching a 1.0 W/L.

    • @Saltyoldguy-

      Kind of. The skill rating can still be quite different than your visual rank even though you earn so little that you think you're where the game wants. I'm emerald 3, and I'm in games with diamonds and my MMR gain is more than loss, but not enough for the game to just out me where it thinks I am.
      I think the MMR gain/loss just gets less the more games you play, irregardless of how close you are. It will slow down when your close BECAUSE you're close, but I think it also just starts to slow down with a high number of matches.

My last 4 ranks before 2.0 was plat2, gold1, diamond?, plat3 then we got ranked 2.0 and I have played with/against seasoned champs every season. The first season was the hardest, every game was full stacked champs now it's at least 1 or 2 champ charms from ranked 1
    0 and usually 7 or more players that have hit champ since 2.0. I got 10 points off champ the first season then emerald the next, I was still getting 120 points per game but stopped because I was sick of the sweaty games. Then diamond. This season I've only played ranked for the last 2 days. The visual ranks were massively inflated 1 or 2 seasons ago. That season had around 10 times as many Champs as there were in Ranked 1.0. Obviously there weren't suddenly 10 times as many players who are that good. Instead, for some reason, Ubisoft made it way easier to reach Champ. Players who were low Plat in Ranked 1.0 suddenly reached Champ. Ubisoft improved it a bit since, it is not that easy to reach Champ anymore but the players who did keep the charms and background cards. Bottom line: The 'Champs' you play aren't real Champs they probably are Ranked 1.0 Plats or maybe even high Golds.

    My highest level since the new system came out is Plat 3. In the old system I was consistently between Plat 2/3. I currently play against Diamond and Champion players almost every game, when my MMR should be around Plat. There’s an entire Emerald rank between Plat and Diamond. Yet when I look up players in almost every match I’m playing against Diamond/Champions and they generally are the ones 13-2 on the team playing with literal Bronze players.
    The system is back to the same garbage that we previously got rid of when they had the MMR restrictions. Not to mention on console almost every Diamond/Champion I play against is an obvious cheater using Cronus because they have zero recoil on every gun they fire. It’s not like they are holding a tight control of recoil, they just don’t even have any recoil.
    I also have actually improved as a player. My K/D is the highest it’s ever been in playing this game since beta, and I even made it to Diamond in Red Crow (the easy Diamond season), yet with the matchmaking I actually have a below 1.0 win loss now when I have for the entire time I’ve played RB6 had a steady 1.2 win/loss with the thousands of hours I’ve put into the game. Who thinks it’s fun losing more games than you win? Especially when I’ve spent 8 years playing this game having a positive one. I have barely even touched ranked this season. The new rank system is legitimately not in anyway better than the old. It’s just a grind fest now, and not a fun one.

    I understand the motive behind this video. And I don't blame CoreRoss for this one bit, but visual rank doesn't mean anything?
    We're telling players that you're working towards a fictional rank that means nothing and you'll never see you're actual progress or know the true skill of the other players you're playing with.
    Rank means literally nothing now and then they take away unranked for a (frankly better experience) but from people that didn't want to deal with Ranked.
    Ubi has basically come out saying too many people complained about the ranking system so we'll just set it up in a way that 'feels' like progression with no actual sense of progression.
    It ruined the game and I have only played Siege in the past 6 years (little bit of RL, but basically only Siege) - I have been playing less and less since Ranked 2.0 and it's not because I care about my rank.
    It's because the sense of progression in myself and the others around me is gone. Cheaters, smurfs, intentional throwers, shitty tm's when solo queueing, *The R6 server is absolutely useless since ranked 2.0 except for 'fake champs' that are using coppers in it to boost to Champ for a rank that means nothing.
    I'm not claiming that Ubisoft has it easy or that there is an easy fix here. But Ranked 2.0 was just NOT IT CHIEF

      This was my take as well. i have improved and am playing much better players now but my rank is pretty much the same as it was. Takes the fun out of the game

    I don’t like how rank 2.0 works I hate that it’s artificially keeping you at the same rank I think that’s stupid that even if I improve I think it’s stupid that I’m not gonna get much because it always thinks I’m a Carper until I get a higher rank next season if the visual rank truly doesn’t matter, why can’t we just have a reasonable amount of rank points, so we can grind through the rakes at a reasonable amount of Time

    I have been plat every season and now after 20 games i cant get out of bronze. In copper i was going against skilled players. So now i cant get plat or diamond charms anymore?

      All it takes are people that dupe the system to lock your progress on where the rank says you're "supposed" to be.

    Not sure how people don't understand the system when it's so simple.

    Says your visual rank doesn’t matter for match making but it affects your ranking but not matchmaking but I still want to know who I play against and others stats to compare them with mine I had a friend gold stuck last season while I was a lower rank and pasted him

    It’s definitely confusing, I have more wins than a buddy of mine. But he’s plat 3 and I’m gold 1

    Ranked 2.0 Ranks are *exclusively* cosmetic.

    Here’s an idea: instead of showing a meaningless rank, show the skill rating Ubisoft 😮😮

    So what if you're highest rank was plat 1 but you're final rank was gold 1, then next season would you get rp until you reach plat 1 or gold 1?

    Bruh I hate when I play with my friends bc I’m the only champ, then they all have like .8-1.1 kds. And I still face top 1000 champ squads EVERY game
