It's sad that it's not easily available. One reason why I am glad I uploaded it, so many others can listen to this amazing song.

Damn is this good. Going through Kates body of work and finding these Non Album masterpieces is so rewarding. Her music is on a whole other level.
Love its dynamism. The guitar just *moves*. Like it has a mind of its own.

Very much a companion piece to the spirit of Experiment IV to me, as well as a hint of things to come ( I get a flavour of The Sensual World's Between a Man and a Woman).

I first found it on the CD single of Sensual World. That disc is worth its weight in gold...great songs and my favorite photo of her ever taken. This is the track line up:

It has become a bit of a collectors item (currently like $30 on Amazon) and the material (I think) can now be found on other releases but this holds a special place on my shelves.
1:50-2:10 i love the way her vocals start soft and sweet and then they get deeper!
and that bit 2:39-2:43 always reminds me of florence and the machine, the ending vocals in strangeness and charm sound kinda similar to this, i find

I have this song on my Hounds of Love album for years and I never notice this song until now. Wow another gem from Kate Bush. This is so good! Just love it!
thats because it is not on Hounds of Love which was released in 1985 this song was done in 1989
I have now learned it was on a re-issue of hounds of love in 1997 as a bonus selection but was recorded around The Sensual World
@@KaptainKopter yes you are right. It is on the reissue album under bonus tracks. I'm lucky the album i bought is a reissue album :)

I downloaded "be my mistake" by The 1975 but somehow the name was changed to "be kind to my mistakes" by Kate Bush, so I looked up this song and wow, very amazing song!
What a happy accident (or should I say mistake!). Love when that happens 😊

This song was used in the 1986 film Castaway with Oliver Reed, if you watch the film the lyrics fit. Apparently Kate was asked to star in the film but declined, though she let them use the song , which later appeared on her album. Amanda Donohoe starred in the film in Kates place and I do believe the director also did the film Walkabout starring Jenny Agutter.

No, Experiment IV is possibly her worst song, comically included on her best of.
Sonically and production - wise they do sound pretty similar

I always preferred Kate's original mix that appeared on the "Castaway" soundtrack LP. Not as rushed, and the drums are front and center.

Sadly,this song has been buried ,for no good reason,just like the Nic Roeg film it came from, Castaway (NOT the Tom Hanks film; This one was MUCH better)…..
the late Benjamin Lo-Fi made a mistake once...he dropped his spoon whilst eating melon balls in Windsor Berni Inn...the spoon was replaced, and the meal continued...

This is actually from the 1997 re-issue of Hounds of Love, it came out with some four or five extra tracks compared to the original 😊
