@@Liz.Newton Thanks for the kind reply. Things are not easy but having discovered this wonderful family's music in the last couple of days gives me a very peaceful feeling. I trust God and am trusting Him to go before me in a difficult situation that is unfolding.
@@toolsforlife3650 Yes, the music’s powerful, well, a powerful messenger. Lots of songs to immerse yourself in. Thinking of you as you navigate and trust
I have chronic pain and serious health issues and am up alot of nights in serious pain. Listening to this song made me forget about my pain and I felt pure joy. Thank you, for the relief and for calming my mind and soul.
1975, communist era, Hungary. From the happiest part of the world, a record could only be smuggled. For Christmas, a smuggled item arrived hidden in the cover of East German and Czechoslovak records. As for Blue Sky - Night Thunder, it was Michael Murphey’s album with Caroline in the Pine on it. What I could hear again 45 years later was the first click on The Petersens. Honestly? The composition much better with The Petersens, than with the original performer. That's how I became a fan :)
Ellen has the voice of all of the country stars of the 50s, 60s, and 70s put together. She is the beautiful reincarnation and embodiment of all those amazing vocalists of that era!
That fiddle is an extension of Katie's soul ! And what a beautiful soul she is!! The Petersens are one of the best bluegrass band out there. And we're lucky to be enjoying them 😊
The reason their music is so great is because of God alone. If people put their trust in God and devote their lives to him like this family the craziness in the world would stop
Country music ceased to exist on radio about 10 years ago. It's basically degenerated into either crude talent-less hillbilly formulaic rap or cheap pop cowboy hat wearing backstreet boys facsimiles. Sad. The Petersens are a long overdue breath of fresh air, virtuosity and pure joy in the field of country and bluegrass.
He’s the best I’ve ever heard in my 66yrs. Katie really shines on this one!! And as always, Ellen’s banjo is awesome. Her picking style leads & ties sections together like few others can do.
This is probably my favorite Petersen’s video . Great background , Ellen’s beautiful voice , Matt’s smile , Julianne’s pure cuteness , Emmitt’s perfect dobro playing , Mama doing her thing , and lastly , Katie’s exquisite fiddle playing . What a treat for the eyes and ears ! 👍
Banjo music is the most underrated and melodic music ever! These guys really have it! Some people are born with it,. This family does Have it . What more can I say?
I have around five or six beautiful versions of this beautiful classic in my RUclips library but this is probably the best one. Amazing. I also appreciate how your family sings so many of the songs which I feel are the greatest songs ever. You really cherish the best songs like I do.
2020 is a crazy year. Just discovered the Petersens and several hours later still trying to figure out how is it possible they all have this insanely good vocals. The best part is seeing how much fun they are all having playing together.
Beautiful rendition of "Carolina in the Pines". I saw your Christmas show yesterday in Charlotte. What a wonderful show for the Christmas Season!! During the Q&A someone asked if you were going to play this song. Matt said "no this is a Christmas show". 😆 Next time I see one of your shows, I will hope to hear this.
Another wonderful bluegrass song with a banjo intro. All instruments firing beautifully. Ellen does a great job in the lead. Thank God for such a talented group of musicians!
Mother bass player is like the house foundations, that steel guitar is a gun machine trigger guau, the banjo mmmmh muaa but, BUT, that violin girl Oh my gosh, is something beyond strings. When she plays her solos uuuiiuuu. God Bless all of you kids. I can choose any of your tracks and I can listening several times on an on and on and on. I become addicted to you. Don't stop doing this. Javier V from Mexico.
Fiddle player is Katie, Banjo player is Ellen, Dobro player Emmett, Guitar player Matt, Mandolin player Julienne and Bass player (Mom) I’m pretty sure her name is Karen.
One of the best so far!!! Ellen's lead and Julianne's backup vocals here are beyond perfection. Just a completely beautiful and warm performance. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
My big toe on my right foot won't stop tapping ever since I first watched this video last year! The doctor said it was `Petersen Syndrome ', he told me to watch three Petersen videos a day and call him in a week! 😊😮😊

I praise the Lord almighty for our beloved Peterson’s!! They have spiritual gifts and they have blessed our hearts with the voice of earth angels and talented men and astonishingly talented ladies!!! God bless the Peterson’s!!
I just love this. And The Peterson. Beautiful young voices and musical abilities! I put them on everyday for my 9 month old son while I’m feeding him lunch. He especially loves the “down in the river to pray” song by yall. He smiles through the whole thing and at the end where yall walk through the creek. He just loves it. Thank you for such beautiful music that reminds us of home 💗💗💗
Dear Petersens, I have always been an old school Rock-N-Rolla and I never thought that I would like the Genre of Music that you play. My apologies, I was very wrong. The music that you play is truly beautiful and touches this old warriors heart. God Bless Y'all. Sincerely yours, CSM J.H. Parker, PhD., United States Army, 10th Group Special Forces (Ret.)

It's been a year since I first heard your family do this song and I'm still working on getting my mind and heart around its beauty and poise. Ellen's singing is amazing and Katie's violin blows me away. God's light sure shines bright on these wonderful people.
As much as I love to hear Michael Martin Murphey sing this one, and I try to make it to his concerts at least once every couple of years, now I really want to hear this in person. The only way to make it better would be to hear Murphey in there too.
I am Texan born and raised so Country Music has always been a Part of me. I confess that Blue Grass has always been something that I’d listen to on occasion but never that much. I just ran across these kids and wow I am totally hooked. These kids are great. Keep on doing what your doing, you have a new fan down in Texas

I didn't even know what Bluegrass was before RUclips recommended The Petersens to me - and now I can't get enough of them. Everything about it (voices, harmonies, musicianship, family, locations) it is just beautiful.
One of my favorite songs, and the Petersens' do a GREAT job in performing this. Every single member does their part in an excellent manner, and together they are the best! I'll also add that I particularly noticed that even though Katie isn't singing in front of the mic and is far off to the side, she really puts everything into her fiddle playin', and the way she smiles and moves it's easy to see how much she is enjoyin' this song... :-)
*LYRICS - Carolina in the Pines*
------------
She came to me, said she knew me
Said she'd known me a long time
And she talked of being in love
With every mountain she had climbed
And she talked of trails we walked up
Far above the timberline
From that night on I knew I'd write a song
With Carolina in the pines
There's a full moon on the fourteenth
First quarter, the twenty first
And a full moon in the last week
Brings a fullness to the earth
There's no guesswork in the clockwork
Of the world's heart or mind
There are nights I only feel right
With Carolina in the pines
As the frost grows on the windows
The wood stove it smokes and glows
As the fire grows we can warm our souls
Making rainbows in the coals
And we talked of trails we walked up
Far above the timberline
There are nights I only feel right
With Carolina in the pines
