    ►LYRICS - California (a Katie Petersen original)
    Memories fade slowly
No please don't go, not yet
Well I was your one and only
    I'm not ready to forget
All the times we shared together
All the words we never said
    But I remember...
When we almost went to California
We almost fell in love in the sand
And you almost told me to be your woman
So you'll always almost be my man
I think it was late last summer
I saw the distance in your eyes
When you said that you found another
And then you told me not to cry
But I knew that's when it started
    The beginning of the end
    And I remembered...
When we almost went to California
We almost fell in love in the sand
And you almost told me to be your woman
So you'll always almost be my man
I guess it was late last winter
    Snow falling all around
    Wedding bells rang, she entered
But I left without a sound
Oh I know she'll always love you
But heaven knows that so will I
    And I'll remember...
When we almost went to California
We almost fell in love in the sand
And you almost told me to be your woman
So you'll always almost be my man

I'm an old session player from the 1970's so can speak with a little bit of authority...Everybody should listen up to this! No auto tune, no big amps, no flashing lights, smoke or dancers. Just a lot of fundamental talent. That's how it's done, kids! (At my age, even Mom's a kid too) The looks on your faces shows how much fun you're having too. You're all inspirational. thanks...

Being an Old Garage Band Guitar picker and a former Southern California DJ back in the early 70's I agree. I won't listen to commercial radio and hyper CG produced music anymore. But i will stand and listen to a street musician for hours, then dump all the cash in my wallet in his jar. Love the Live Pure Music.

My wife has Alzheimer’s and loves this song. I play the video multiple times a night for her. I wrote a poem that I read to her every night as well.
Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet,
I whisper to the twilight, to the echoes of our duet.
I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget,
The stories of our lifetime, the dreams we haven’t met.
I think it was late that summer, I saw a difference in your eyes,
A distant, cloudy shadow, where once the sunshine lies.
The laughter we had shared, the moments pure and wise,
Started slipping through the cracks, like whispers in the skies.
Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet,
I hold onto the fragments, with a heart full of regret.
I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget,
The love that binds us closer, in every sunrise and sunset.
The days blend into nights, the seasons swiftly flow,
Yet in the quiet moments, I see the you I know.
I think it was late that summer, when time began to slow,
And the life we built together, began to ebb and go.
Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet,
I’ll weave the threads of yesterday, in hopes we never fret.
I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget,
The vows we made in tenderness, that love can’t ever debt.
So here we stand in twilight, as stars begin to rise,
I think it was late that summer, I saw a difference in your eyes.
Yet in this endless journey, beneath the changing skies,
My heart will always whisper, our love never dies.

This is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard. These young musicians don't ever try to one up each other and just settle in to the songs that they play. Katie's voice is just pure beauty here and the harmonies are just right. The instrumentation is perfect with the short fiddle lead and the break with that beautiful dobro. This group is just pure magic and their music just calms the soul. I give this song a perfect 10.

so sorry to hear about your past...
i think perhaps what the Petersens' secret is their being in Christ which anyone can have as well...
the Lord is redeeming all things...
our past no matter how bad is never the last word ... Jesus is..
May His love engulf your whole being and bring wholeness, peace and joy into your life 🙏

    • @davidpietarila699
      @davidpietarila699 3 года назад +2

@@aiaxander1468 I appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately “Christianity” played a fairly significant role in the majority of traumas and dramas in my life. I put Christianity in parentheses bet I don’t believe several members of my family were actually Christians, but did use Jesus to manipulate people/children into unconscionable predicaments, and then forgive themselves for horrible acts. I am not casting stones at you, or the Peterson’s for their faith, and I applaud those who actually practice what they preach. But I’ve learned the hard way to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to religion and appreciate people for how they actually behave.

Devastatingly Beautiful! Mastery in writing, singing and playing... the whole group... what music is all about. Ellen & Matt harmonies. Tasty fills by Juliann & Emmett... love the ending. Solid rhythm in guitar with Matt and supportive bass by mom. As a music major, bluegrass has never been real big with me, but you Peterson's have WON me over. What a vibe you convey. Ellen's peace in the moment... It's almost as though each of you can see and feel the love for your sister and crave to hold hands with her on the going though. Thanks for blessing us all with your gifts.

The siblings have strengths that are unique to one another; not one replaces the other. This original song Katie wrote demonstrates her inner beauty and talent that old men tear up about. It's near perfect for her and it's strange to be the old man grandpa I once couldn't understand. Keep it up Katie.

This seems to be a hit song, but as we who hear it complain, it is not. From the first hearing it entered our brains as a tune we want never to forget.
Bravo, Katie for being its composer and for having the wherewithal to convince your group to perform it, with you in the lead, at y'all's standard high superiority, or higher even.

I've played this song every morning for the last 4 days . I sure hope you didn't live this story . if you did that man was a fool .. Sorry , it's just how I feel . My life has had a lot of up hill including the loss of my daughter 17 years ago and playing my guitar helped me get threw it . She sang vary much like you and I miss that every day . If you look me up on You tube another part of my story is there if you read the words by Dave Gray . I just don't know what I would have done if I didn't have faith and music in my life . Love Your Voice Young Lady

Katie is telling her truth... can't you feel it? The purity of her story is as clear as the sun on a bright clear day! This family may have come through the Christian FORMAT, but they are as real as it gets. The energy they transmit from their core beings is right out of the heart of SOURCE ...it brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to them. Katie is so deeply spiritual ... my heart is so touched by the pureness of her beingness... I am in awe of who they and she is ... THANK YOU ALL...

Wow! First off, that's some incredible songwriting right there. If all you had done was create the lyrics and the music, it would have been a huge enough accomplishment... but on top of that, the performance of it! Oh my! Well done, Petersens... with the biggest congratulations to Katie for being an amazing songwriter with unlimited potential. The future is bright for this family.
