I'm an old session player from the 1970's so can speak with a little bit of authority...Everybody should listen up to this! No auto tune, no big amps, no flashing lights, smoke or dancers. Just a lot of fundamental talent. That's how it's done, kids! (At my age, even Mom's a kid too) The looks on your faces shows how much fun you're having too. You're all inspirational. thanks...
Being an Old Garage Band Guitar picker and a former Southern California DJ back in the early 70's I agree. I won't listen to commercial radio and hyper CG produced music anymore. But i will stand and listen to a street musician for hours, then dump all the cash in my wallet in his jar. Love the Live Pure Music.
Max Thinker hey max since you have had years in the business could you listen to some of the songs I’ve written on my RUclips page? Especially the Virginia songs

99% true. Sirius satellite radio has a great Bluegrass station. Haven't heard the Peterson's on it yet , but someday, I bet. Our local Public radio station hosts 3 hours of Bill Knowlton's Bluegrass Ramble every Sunday too.
It’s incredible how different these sisters’ voices are from each other, and how each voice has its own unique sound. My favorite is always whoever is singing at the moment.
Katie, thank you! Your song makes me hurt, to me, a great song should from time to time, your songwriting here is beyond perfection. With all my shriveled black 🖤, i truly give thanks to you and your wonderful family. I promise you, many will forgive and hopefully heal. WOW
I'm listening to California again. Just a fantastic piece of song writing and a group of musicians that don't take a back seat to anyone I have listened to on you tube.
OMG I cant believe I listen to this song 4-5- times a week and still get choked up. Thanks to all you Petersens for giving me at 75 years old the joy of hearing real music. Such a refreshing change from the "stuff" I hear today!
Dear Petersen family, At a time when the world is ravaged by an evil infection, and I’m one of the doctors in the UK working round the clock to fight this, it is vital that in those rare moments of time a away from work there is somewhere to come to for peace and reflection. Thank you for giving me a refuge with your beautiful music for a little while. It helps me to relax to listen to you and know we will all get through this x
Alan Woodall thank you Dr Woodall. I’m a health care practitioner myself. Totally agree, needed something uplifting. This group is great. God bless you and protect you. I pray for us all. Thanks 🙏🏻🀄️☮️
This is a beautiful, gut-wrenching song. I hope someday, Katie, you will be able to sing an equally beautiful song with a happier romantic ending for you.
I like this music because it is acoustic with natural voices. This type of bluegrass music is excellent. I am glad young people are still performing this excellent music.
This is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard. These young musicians don't ever try to one up each other and just settle in to the songs that they play. Katie's voice is just pure beauty here and the harmonies are just right. The instrumentation is perfect with the short fiddle lead and the break with that beautiful dobro. This group is just pure magic and their music just calms the soul. I give this song a perfect 10.
This song is absolutely gorgeous. Katie sings this so beautifully and I just love the harmonies by Matt and Ellen. So nice to hear Emmett echoing the chorus on his dobro! Great instrumentation across the board.
My wife has Alzheimer’s and loves this song. I play the video multiple times a night for her. I wrote a poem that I read to her every night as well. Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet, I whisper to the twilight, to the echoes of our duet. I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget, The stories of our lifetime, the dreams we haven’t met. I think it was late that summer, I saw a difference in your eyes, A distant, cloudy shadow, where once the sunshine lies. The laughter we had shared, the moments pure and wise, Started slipping through the cracks, like whispers in the skies. Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet, I hold onto the fragments, with a heart full of regret. I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget, The love that binds us closer, in every sunrise and sunset. The days blend into nights, the seasons swiftly flow, Yet in the quiet moments, I see the you I know. I think it was late that summer, when time began to slow, And the life we built together, began to ebb and go. Memories fade slowly, no please don’t go, not yet, I’ll weave the threads of yesterday, in hopes we never fret. I am your one and only, and I’m not ready for you to forget, The vows we made in tenderness, that love can’t ever debt. So here we stand in twilight, as stars begin to rise, I think it was late that summer, I saw a difference in your eyes. Yet in this endless journey, beneath the changing skies, My heart will always whisper, our love never dies.
Devastatingly Beautiful! Mastery in writing, singing and playing... the whole group... what music is all about. Ellen & Matt harmonies. Tasty fills by Juliann & Emmett... love the ending. Solid rhythm in guitar with Matt and supportive bass by mom. As a music major, bluegrass has never been real big with me, but you Peterson's have WON me over. What a vibe you convey. Ellen's peace in the moment... It's almost as though each of you can see and feel the love for your sister and crave to hold hands with her on the going though. Thanks for blessing us all with your gifts.

The siblings have strengths that are unique to one another; not one replaces the other. This original song Katie wrote demonstrates her inner beauty and talent that old men tear up about. It's near perfect for her and it's strange to be the old man grandpa I once couldn't understand. Keep it up Katie.
Thank you dear Petersens. We listen to you a lot in Belgium. You are doing a remarkable job that brings sunshine to all families. And also to all those in the world for whom life is not easy.
This sounds like a classic hit that has been around for decades, and when you hear it on the radio you feel good about life. Superbly written/arranged, Katie!
Katie made a beautiful song out of heartbreak. I can't even sing along because I break down thinking about what she must have gone through. Yet here she is with all her sibs (and Emmett) turning lemons into the most incredible lemonade.
I grew up in... not great circumstances. Lots of pain, violence and death. Watching this FAMILY create something beautiful is just... I don’t even know how to describe it. @@aiaxander1468 I appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately “Christianity” played a fairly significant role in the majority of traumas and dramas in my life. I put Christianity in parentheses bet I don’t believe several members of my family were actually Christians, but did use Jesus to manipulate people/children into unconscionable predicaments, and then forgive themselves for horrible acts. I am not casting stones at you, or the Peterson’s for their faith, and I applaud those who actually practice what they preach. Wow! First off, that's some incredible songwriting right there. If all you had done was create the lyrics and the music, it would have been a huge enough accomplishment... but on top of that, the performance of it! Oh my! Well done, Petersens... with the biggest congratulations to Katie for being an amazing songwriter with unlimited potential. The future is bright for this family.
I don’t know how Katie gets through that song without weeping. So poignant. If that happened to me, I don’t think I could sing through it without becoming a mess. I presume it is healing for her. I sure hope so, it is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Katie; you have the gift of ‚bending‘ the time in the melody. The only other singer that I have heard who achieves this is Eva Cassidy. It creates a timeless feeling, and it‘s so enchanting to listen to. ❤️❤😉
I really like your comments. Have you heard Katie's entire solo album yet? You can find it on digital platforms and on this YT channel. ruclips.net/video/XGXlLpiH3WI/видео.html
Katie what a beautiful voice. The music is so natural, all acoustic. I so much admire the entire band. Everyone’s voices and instruments are just a wonderful mix.
It's really a beautiful song Kat, there is so much love and melancholy, tears and sweet memories ... and your eyes are not as happy as ever, as if loves and memories were yours. Be proud of yourself Kat, who gives love finds love ...

Thank you Petersen's for sharing your gift with us.
Much love in Messiah,
Chris

Beautiful!
I don’t know how Katie gets through that song without weeping. So poignant. If that happened to me, I don’t think I could sing through it without becoming a mess. I presume it is healing for her. I sure hope so, it is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

A very dreamy song. I love the gentleness. 💛
Thought I would click and see what this Petersens family is all about........5 hours later. Can't stop watching. Love this song!!!
Been there, done that. Time doesn't help. I keep coming back, time and time again. AND I LOVE IT EVERY TIME.
Same here. Just now. Cried hearing their song for the first time.
Yep, indeed...3 hours last night and 5 or so today... wow!
Made my heart tear up. You don’t just sing and play. You touch.
Of the thousands and thousands of love songs out there, California has to be in the top 100 maybe top 50 of best love songs ever written IMHO.
Katie what a beautiful voice. The music is so natural, all acoustic. I so much admire the entire band. Everyone’s voices and instruments are just a wonderful mix.
One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard, nice job Katie.
That's an example of an egregious comma splice.
Me too!
It's really a beautiful song Kat, there is so much love and melancholy, tears and sweet memories ... and your eyes are not as happy as ever, as if loves and memories were yours.
Be proud of yourself Kat, who gives love finds love ...
