Hi Gidon. Just watched this video after your reply to my comment in your older Stryd Video. I’d like to thank you for your availability and prompt response to my comment. I also, appreciate how detailed and, at the same point, straight to the point you were here. Just subscribed as well. After owning a 735XT for some years, I decided that for some of my runs I wanted to hear podcasts / music and Garmin felt like a wrong choice for that (poor implementation, feels like in the 90’s when I was stuck with Palm devices). I recently bought an AW 5 and will give it a go taking advantage of your great advices / comments in the videos. Cheers!
Great - glad you found it useful - and thanks for the support! Let me know how you get on! It's not perfect by any means - but the developers have done a good job with the Stryd app. My main issue is heart rate tracking - so still have to wear a strap.
Great video. While I live in a very windy location, I’ve avoided Stryd as I’m so technologically dumb. Your presentation helped me see the benefits of the device make it worth the learning curve. Thanks-greetings from a Canuck prepping for an icy winter of training. :-)
I just recieved de footpod and watched your video. It helps to understand what I've bought :) Thanks en I'm gonna use it the next weeks to check it out. Kind regard from The Netherlands.

@@TheTechnologyMan stryd is not worth 30 bucks. Zwift one cost 27 eur. Windsensor + power algorithms are not worth 8.5x times more. It is a scam in plain sight. I was sceptial about the new wind messuring feature. But now after some 50 runs or so iam really impressed and i have no doubts about this stryd powermeter
Nice video. I have got the wind one and even did a video on it myself. Mostly though I am finding the Air Power contribution negligible in typical UK conditions like say 10-15 mph and it only really gets above "noise" levels if I run directly into it which on say a typical loop course isn't as often as I initially imagined. I also find I need a calibration of 102.5% to get "accurate" distance results.
Hi Tim. I think you're right - the effect is generally pretty small. But I went for a run along the very exposed seafront of Torbay a couple of weeks ago on a very windy day. Going straight into a headwind on the return leg, Stryd definitely helped me to not go too hard. I just like knowing the power number is more accurate. I'll take a look at your video!
@@TheTechnologyMan thanks! When I did that video it was on a different firmware version to now. Subequent ones seem, by design apparently, to be giving less Air Power. Out of interest what % Air Power did you get at Torbay and for what sort of actual wind speed? Next time I get a chance on a windy day, I will try and run "into it" and see what I get. I guess it is not entirely surprising that say a wind of 10 mph when you aren't usually going any faster than that yourself (it would be my 10K race pace) does not have much of an effect. That said I have done at least 2 races I can recall where one way was a good minute per mile different just on the wind which must have been more like 30+ mph. Those are the days where this Stryd could really help and also show that "drafting" can be effective too.
@@TimGrose I've shared the run in the DCR tool since it breaks out Air Power - so you can take a look if you like: analyze.dcrainmaker.com/#/public/9375d53d-6a0a-447a-42e9-95dba252cc04 You can see air power is up to 70W - so pretty significant!
Are you sure both Stryds were uncalibrated when you did the distance test? It is very rare to have the old Stryd and the Wind Stryd measure the same. The Wind is usually significantly ‘behind’ the old Stryd.
I've compared the Wind to a Garmin GPS watch and Apple watch - and the Stryd always reads a little lower on distance. But I haven't done any recent measurements with the Wind.
Your review (website review) has convinced me to keep my AW5 and buy a Stryd sensor. On your website review you note that you are getting Heart Rate issues, are all of these issues resolved by using an external HR strap? Or do they still exist?
Hi. I get far fewer issues with HR with a chest strap - but do still get the occasional problem with the HR remaining stuck. Stryd are aware of the issue but it doesn't seem a huge priority. One thing that helps if I remember to do it, is to restart my AW before a run.
Can I use Stryd as the data source for distance and pace in the regular Workouts app in an Apple Watch? I just really want that always-on display but with the accurate instant pace and distance from Stryd. If yes, when I upload it to Strava will it use Stryd's distance or the GPS distance? Amazing videos, dude, thanks so much!
Thanks Ramon Balthazar! No unfortunately you have to use the Stryd app. I'm hoping Apple will allow third party apps to use the always on display. I'd upgrade my Series 4 in a heartbeat!
congratulations nice video, I bought the stryd Wind (replacing the old one) I noticed that at the same pace 4'02 "per km the old stryd 250w while the new 288w. it's possible?
Thanks! I wouldn't compare them directly - and the new model is also taking account of wind or air power as they call it. You can see the air power component in the Stryd Powercenter.
Before you purchase a stryd foot pod, know this … My stryd is less than two years old and won’t hold a charge. When I contacted stryd to get the battery replaced, I was told they couldn’t do that and that I would have to buy a new foot pod. However, they were “generously” going to give me a 35% discount on a new foot pod. I asked them “Why in the hell would I buy a new one when you guys wouldn’t even stand behind my current one?” I’m not saying everyone will experience the same battery issue I am experiencing, but you need to be aware that they do not have a good system in place to address that situation when it does occur. It’s just incredible to me that they can’t swap out a battery and charge me some fee for that instead of requiring me to buy a whole new unit. Incredibly disappointed in their customer support.
Think I just replied to this post on another video - but I am sorry to hear that. I do feel you should get longer than two years from a gadget at this price point.
I’ve just bought a stryd based on your first video (thanks for that) and am going to use it with Apple Watch. I was interested in your comment regarding HR tracking via the watch. Did stryd give any indication of when that might be fixed? Coming from training and race ‘pacing’ based on HR, I’m interested to see how the two metrics stack up.
I would check if you get the issue - since it doesn't affect everyone. They did look into it and even released an update about 6 months ago to try and fix it, but that caused other issues, so they reversed the update! I asked a week ago and they said it wasn't a priority so I would hold your breath. But see if it's an issue for you - hopefully you'll be fine 🤞.
Hi - when you looked in the sensor menu I thought I saw the battery level. I have Fenix 6 connected using Ant+ and do not have this. Are you using Bluetooth?
