    Transcript:
Mollie Naegeli: I initially chose Bracewell because I felt very welcomed by the people, and everyone is super intelligent and does high quality work at the same time, but I still feel like I could be friends with everyone here.
Bronwyn Tuff: I would say if you want great mentorship and actual hands-on experience rather than doing the typical TV show coffee runs, I think applying to Bracewell is definitely the place to be.
Nancy Davis: Really what you see as a summer associate at Bracewell is what you get. You don’t come in as an associate after finishing the summer program and find something totally different. The way we operate during the summer is the way we operate during the year.
Dewey Gonsoulin: We have a program that’s not all that different from some of our competitors in some ways in that they spend their entire summer with us, which consists of a 10-week program. We essentially just fold them into the teams that work here at the firm and treat them as though they would be a first-year associate.
Kennedy Williams: Throughout the 10 weeks, you’ll rotate through three practice groups and spend four to three weeks with each one.
Kyra Link: I just finished rotating through public finance, and when I was there, I got to do real substantive drafting.
Julia Boyce: I have been doing FERC regulatory work. I have been doing oil and gas litigation. I have been working on healthcare cases.
Bronwyn Tuff: I had the great privilege of being on a closing deal, and so I got to really handle matters in that closing deal and celebrate with the team when it ended.
Kennedy Williams: I have been in some practice groups that I thought would love and realized the work is not for me, and then I’ve been in groups that I didn’t think I would like that I’ve fallen in love with.
Sam Folb: I’ve learned more these past two summers than I have the past years of law school just with regard to what actual work is going to be like.
Mollie Naegeli: The best part of the summer program is probably the work events, after work hanging out with my friends and getting to know everyone. I think the retreat would probably be my favorite thing.
Jay Harper: We go to Austin with not just the summer associates but most of the attorneys at the firm, which I think is a really unique opportunity where we can just get away from work and really get to know each other.
Sam Folb: The retreat is always a fun time. It’s nice to go to be able to go to Austin and hang out with my fellow summer associates and see the attorneys outside of work. Playing golf, playing pickleball, whatever you choose, you have a great day.
Kate McGregor: I think the best thing you can do when you’re interviewing for a summer associate position is just to be yourself and to remember that this is a two-way street. We are not just looking at you, you are also evaluating us and the best place to start your career is the place where you’re going to be the best fit.
Kyra Link: Be curious. Be curious about the people that you’re interviewing with. Be curious about not only the work that they do, but also what they do in their personal lives.
Dewey Gonsoulin: Come up and engage with us and really try to introduce yourself and let us get to see who you are and get to know you because I think that’s a big part of what we are looking for are students that will connect with us and potentially, and more importantly, connect with our clients.
Kyra Link: If you’re thinking about applying to Bracewell’s summer associate program, do it. It is such a rewarding experience. I don’t think that this sort of energy you can get any where else, and I found it is absolutely invaluable.
