Rana Naved from Pakistan has spoken up and is willing to provide evidence, it's been quite sad that England international Adil Rashid has stayed quiet throughout this period. He has a role to play in this and needs to shoulder that responsibility and important sporting figures have done so in the past and continue to do so now, e.g. Marcus Rashford. It is also important for white players to be open and transparent. But bigger than all this is that there needs to be systemic change at YCCC.
Nasser hit the nail on the head, and what he said reminded me of being at school. If you are seen as different for any reason, then you are picked on, even for the stupidest reason.
Listening to TMS about 4 summers ago and India were putting together a 100+ lower order partnership to turn the game. Henry B said it reminded him of them doing similar in the early 60's in Calcutta and he named the two players from back in the day. Vaughan interjects 'they sound like a couple of good curries'.....Nothing else to add....
This actually rings a bell. It maybe longer than 4 summers ago tho. It could’ve been during the 2018 Test Series vs India (Alistair Cooks swan song) but Blowers retired from TMS in 2017. But I do recall Vaughan making some idiotic slurry comment about curries live on TMS.
How well do these guys speak - if you ever want to listen to a debate or get a visual representation of what an “argument” should sound like - listen to these two. Top class
This kind of racism is like a pack mentality thing. Picking on the person who is different and vulnerable just to make your mates think you’re ‘one of the lads’. This branch of toxic masculinity is hopefully slowly dying out with the new generation holding older ones to account .
The whole truth is starting to come out. Didn't like Kane Williamson coming to Yorkshire cos Vaughan said he could also bowl off spin. But Williamson is a batsman only, wrong Azeem. Now we start to see why not all your complaints were upheld and now Hutton's gone it'll be squeaky bum time at the ECB.
You will not understand, this is how it is for blacks and Asians in UK, we just keep going, maybe you would be happy if he just gave up his space for a white person.

Very well said Both sides of the story. Yorkshire has handled this very bad. I play cricket in West Yorkshire and i have not seen 1 young black cricketer in 6yrs of playing representing any of the clubs. They Asian have continued to play inspite the whole bias toward selecting them for the national team.. Jafra Archer was jus very fortunate to be picked bcuz of his obvious talent while representing the West Indies. Clearly Yorkshire handling of this is a reflection of how alot of people in the higher eshlong of society view people of ethnic minority. Its clear they can't hide anymore the whole board shud resign immediately.
One of the few times Yorkshire stepped up at T20 when Rafiq was captain. I enjoyed watching his team play, he got more out of them than Gale. Questions to answer on both sides, things have obviously gone on but after leaving the club why go back for second helpings if it was that bad? And the man reduced you to tears every time so of course you invite him to your wedding? Come on all the facts need to be out and laid bare. It's abhorrent and hopefully the long needed clear out at the club will happen.
I was an asian in a white-majority school. Azeem Rafiq's story is very relatable. All I can say is that I went to great lengths to tolerate racial banter and keep pretending everything is fine and make repeated attempts to do things that I perceived would make me fit in more and accepted as one of your own rather than be seen as different all the time. So yes you would invite people to weddings because you'd view it as an opportunity to get closer to them, because if one of them makes it easier to fit in with them, it might have a knock on effect and make your life easier.
@@zane6505 I'm truly sorry to hear that Zane. I hope by taking the time to reply to me you noted that I did try to word my thoughts carefully. Good luck with this. South Africa are still waiting (120 years and counting) for some sort of acknowledgement from the UK that the British concentration camps of the South African War were just not cricket.
Totally agree that discrimination is wrong, whether that be based on gender, race or some other factor. Nasser Hussain, however, about 4 minutes in suggests it is OK to have "banter" on colour of hair, size of nose and other not specified areas. I'm sure a person with ginger hair would feel as discriminated against as one with darker (or lighter) skin tone. So I would hope for clarification from Sky Sports on what they class as discrimination!
I remember Frank Lampard saying the one thing he dosn miss as a player is the so called banter in the dressing room. I think Yorkshire are getting a hard rap for this. What sort of sanction were they supposed to take against individuals based on the word of one person. It would be a legal nightmare.
It's disgusting! Judging deccades old comments by today's standards. Is it possible for somebody with brown skin to be a victim of bullying but not racial harrassment?
Yes it is possible . But not if their called racists terms at the time . It’s racism then. And as for judging by today’s standards ….you would hope it would be considered wrong at all times. Your not on the Yorkshire cricket board by any chance are you

I was employed as a scorer by a Yorkshire club for over 40 years. Each club were allowed to employ 2 pro's, they came from various parts of the world, from Pakistan to India and beyond. I never once saw racism of any kind, in fact players went out of their way to make overseas players welcome.

My family told me i had gone far enough and that they couldn't afford to send me to these tournaments anymore when it was so obvious no matter how well i did I wouldn't get a chance, i dont know if it was racism and i dont want to make such a claim but i always thought if i was white and performed that well would i have got a chance but i gave up and it still hurts to this day as i just could not explain why i didn't get selected and doubted my ability but only god and scouts know why i didn't get selected. i have to mention Arnie sidebottom absolute fantastic bloke he helped me so much and the asain community in Yorkshire in the 90s and wanted me to continue but deep down he even knew i had no chance of getting any where even though in his own words i was faster baller than mullay his son ryan and caddick at just the age of 18 but i hope all this media attention on racism gives other ethnic minorities a platform to have careers in cricket now and produce more players like moeen, rashid, jordan, mills, archer etc
You racially abuse and harass someone and call it banter???
The nerve, I hope they get all what they deserve... Very badly handled by ECB, absolutely shameful for the cricket community 😕
Unless you were there it's hard to say. Maybe this is a case of a disgruntled employee playing the victim.
@@jahglory7815 could be that. But then if one of the accused comes out and admits it happened… Trying to hide it under the label of friendly banter just reminds me of the Alf Garnet types. “I’m just having a laaaaarf”
I can seriously see Nasser standing as London Mayor and beating Sadie Khan comprehensively, I wish he would but cricket is engrained in his blood.
Always want him as a commentator as a cricket fan
Why would Nasser want to ruin his good name to become a politician?
@@jacharvey8231 bro its all subcontinent trait... we see anyone successful they want him as politician lol
Yorkshire should be banned from county cricket for at least 5 years , so the rest can learn how to be a human in 21st century.
Shame on Racists.
Well said
This is now the second example of "young" cricketers using abusive language.
There is no excuse for any such behaviour and there now needs to be an effective discrimination/abuse education programme for all young cricketers including all schools feeding cricketers into the County system.
absolutely love both Nass & Athers!!
2 gem of a souls there. One thing to note is the respect they have for each other, you can by the eye contact throughout with each other and the tone of their discussions. Huge respect.
Naseer is a class act. For real.
I heard they're changing their name to Yorkshire Kounty Kricket Klub
By far the most mature discussion of this topic I've seen, although that bar is pretty low
Huge respect to both Nass and Athers...Nass is spot on here. Glad ECB is taking action and sponsors cancelling contracts. Yorkshire club should be banned for 2 years or should be relegated, untill they sort this stuff at grass root level at all age groups.
What a pathetic take. All this is a witch hunt against white people… simple as.
@@mugcheese100 You guys ought to sort yourself out then 🤷🏽♂️

It is not banter.... I a more proud now of England when my children can stand up for themselves.

Sorry you had to experience that.
Loved the comments, gotta admit. Nice to see people supporting the cause.
I'm not surprised. Always thought cricket was a weird as* sport.

Amazing answers from Nasser Hussain. Respect for Atherton .. love the answer and question posted to them . I am a Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 and now a British national and this happened to my own mother land ; cos of religious names and background some of th e talents was overseen.. sadly it’s a true reflection on the cricket around the world especially in sub continent countries. I've heard countless times on TV other commentators taking the mickey out Nasser's long nose 😆🤣😂😹
Nasser Hussain and Michel Athurton please have your own RUclips channel...We really likes your conversations and debates.
I love this 2 players from my heart. Bless them both, truly fair and neutral players in the whole world xoxo
closing statement by Nasser hit the nail on the head, that is exactly why South Asian English cricketers do not progress well enough.!!! Well done to both you and Sky Sports for raising the awareness.
It's just as bad in the NHS. They don't want coloured people to outdo them in any field.
What are u on about
@@AH-hz5xc No wonder general population struggled during this pandemic!

Could listen to both talk about any topic in cricket, but especially serious issues in cricket, Athers is a fantastic broadcaster/journalist and Nass just compliments him, great stuff guys
Yes he complements him very well
Yes he complements him very well.
He probably compliments him too to be fair (although maybe not on camera!)
I played County cricket and I would say I would be shocked if he was treated worse than I was. Took me 20 years to even go back to watch.
A line has been crossed
Wasn't this the guy who admitting making anti-semitic remarks? The word hypocrite comes to mind. Hard to take him seriously after that.
Nasser hit the nail on the head, and what he said reminded me of being at school. If you are seen as different for any reason, then you are picked on, even for the stupidest reason.
It's Yorkshire cricket club for gods sake, there is no shock value in this story at all.
0:16 Atherton thinking 'bloody hell, Nas, the plural is crisES'.
Still better than what Trump Jr said 🤣🤣
Lol I instantly thought the same thing when I saw this.
The biggest silence is what about the rest of the county cricket system. Does anyone really think for one second that yorkshire is unique here?
If it was that bad why did he come back twice to Yorkshire?
Because he’s part off the squad !!!
You will not understand, this is how it is for blacks and Asians in UK, we just keep going, maybe you would be happy if he just gave up his space for a white person.
Any Asian lads who have played I the leagues around Yorkshire will tell you how rife racism is. Grey Preston is one of the worst places for it back in the 90s
@Lee Boyall they’ve had to otherwise they wouldn’t stop.
Nothing new here. Atherton and Hussein should investigate bias at Club Level cricket associations.
Did the IPL commentators have any discussion like this when Darren Saamy said that he was racially abused at SRH.
Problm is he was not abused. He was Calld by that name but it's not racially motivated. M brown my nick name is Browny. Lots of people has the same name. It was just the name like Kalicharan or Kaluvitarna.
@@ChoCoMoCo69 doesn’t matter. Darren Sammy was uncomfortable with that name and this shouldn’t have been called that.
@@Dawood.Pervez whn he said that he is uncomfortable he is never called by that. He never talkd about it before. There are lots of same color cricketers in IPL no one said that to anyone. My be he was comfortable before but not with time. Don't change the meaning of Racism if someone snatch your opportunity and stops you doing something you wants to cuz of your color, race or faith that's Racism.
Intelligent assessment of the situation. Well done Athers & Nasser.
I imagine Jofra's bouncers in the nets would keep his team mates behavior on lock
YAWN MAYBE because they probably aren't good enough to compete in first class cricket.

The point from Atherton re the full report is important as lots of speculation and judgement being made without all the facts. YCC needs modernization to represent its cricket community with is a mix. The board should resign

absolutely shocking, poor man, Racism is not banter, the pain can damage an individual for life.
Respect for these two.
Other people have gone to jail in recent weeks for doing it online. Will this be the same for those within sport.
Depends entirely on their class. If they are upper class, the rules don't apply.
He says that, but he also says there's a line you don't cross.. even with stuff like 'long nose, short etc'
@Edit Name Nass isn't white
Are allegations so easy to tarnish ones image..without been proven
Well spoken. True captains.
Sweet, so basically if someone calls me fat I can make some money?
Your not on the Yorkshire cricket board by any chance are you
Why u guys turned off comments on azeem rafique testimony video??

Such a shame that this game is about “Balls” yet none of them have them to speak up!! Be honest and have some integrity and stand up for your fellow teammate Azeem! Grow some!!
I was employed as a scorer by a Yorkshire club for over 40 years. Each club were allowed to employ 2 pro's, they came from various parts of the world, from Pakistan to India and beyond. I never once saw racism of any kind, in fact players went out of their way to make overseas players welcome.
If you didn't saw it or you never experienced it doesn't mean it never happened!! That's at best a lame excuse & trying to brush aside the issue instead of rectifying those mistakes. Just like Hitler killed Jews but you & I didn't witnessed that personally but it did happened! Isn't?
I live near the m1 for 60 years never seen a crash.
So, why are you only talking about it now?
