Nietzsches work is not simple and it is incredibly nice to have you simplify it in this format where even kids can all understand and relate. Thank you for your great work.
I think this is one of the major issues in western culture. We strive for the respect of the people around us even though they may be nothing like us. This is a sort of conformity that stifles the individuals character, twisting and warping them into a less happy productive good person. It’s also very difficult being your own person. You have to be very aware of who you are and courageous enough to be that person, and constantly run the risk of being out of balance and becoming someone no one respects
Try eastern culture, you'll easily see how individualistic the west is, especially when you're in New York, you'll see the very definition of individualism. Crowded place but it seems people are far away from each other.
@@gamer-ni5kl It's worst in the east, that's why South Korea has the highest rate of suicide because of Social pressures. This is a wonderful interpretation of this idea. It's interesting that the barrier for most people to actualize this way of thinking is the ability to change your mind once new information is presented in "contact". Having the ability to be flexible with your understanding of the world, I think, is a key attribute to living your best life. Knowing that you do not know it all.

If only life was this simple. Fear doesn't stem from desire. Trauma and generational trauma and thoughts/fears about the world are etched on your bodymind in your formative years, when your own cognition is very primal. You can't simply talk your way out of it. It requires much, much more than that.
It stems from your Thought Process - Thinking. And yes, for the most people struggling at one fear or another, they were conditioned into it. The method for breaking it is still not fully established. Facing it, however, is the seemingly counter intuitive but effective way to do it.
Doesn't that go back to your understanding of the world and your contact with reality? Which he said proceeds your thoughts and heavily influences all those later things including fear?
Nietzche served as a medical orderly in a war and saw/dealt with the craziest shit imagineable. He did drugs and fucked prostitutes about it but much of his writings are about dealing with trauma. Overcoming that fear and trying to find a purpose was a battle he fought his whole life. He definitely didnt say its an easy battle to win but recognizing its an internal personal struggle with yourself is a good starting point if you want to find some kind of peace.
If fear stems from desire couldn’t one easily say that those who have suffered from Trauma have gained desire to be free from it? Maybe then trauma survivors have more desire than others. They desire to be safe more than others. Recognizing less worry about safety is warranted would make one feel safer. I think this is accordance with Nietzsche’s proposed solution. Also, talking your way out of it is not what’s being proposed; it’s more understanding your way out it. The 2nd one is a lot harder than the first.
the lack of money problem for artists is not so easily solved. For every successful artist, there are hundreds if not thousands who couldn't make it, even after giving everything to achieve their dreams. The reality is, society only values the cream of the crop in artistic and creative endeavors.
Well if you're the real deal you'll be able to develop a niche/a style original and specific enough that everyone who likes it will be able to obtain it from you and you only. If you simply like to draw occasionally or to cover other artists songs then it's maybe for the best to keep it just as a hobby and instead invest the majority of your time in some sort of work where you're able to constantly contribute and create value. Eg my earnings from my art as well as my style increased drastically since I became a janitor. Why? Because I removed the desire and the fear out of the way and I'm able to create with full freedom without thinking what if people don't like my next thing.
It's simple not easy. Figure out the value you provide and stick with it. Not everyone lasts long enough to come to this conclusion. Don't make excuses for yourself if you want to live as an artist. It's possible: YOU have to be brave enough to figure it out.
My irony I'm an illustration artist and thought my was never good but watching this I just saw you use illustrations, similar to what I create Loved your work.
Wow you're a visionary- your trash stick figure aesthetic (and maybe content too?) was validated by a throwaway Nietzsche video on RUclips. Congrats!!!

The way you have put together this conversation is just fantastic. It just keeps building from one thought to another, and everything makes sense. Brilliant stuff. I only have one question. Man I've really got to work hard on improving myself. It's only now, in my later years I realise how much of my life has been spent in the comfort zone, which has been nice, but has really stunted my growth and held me back. Now that comfort zone has gone and I have the opportunity to follow my heart, I'm finding it a real challenge. Every day is a struggle to overcome fear and excuses why I shouldn't do it. Not to mention the government and society pressuring me into being part of their system and forgetting about my dreams.
This video literally led me to a break through in my life. It helped me get to a realization and everything is starting to connect. Thank you so much and thank God for putting this video in my path.❤
I completely agree with you backtracing of stimuli and solving them, ultimately we reach a point where things change when we get in contact with noticed knowledge, that's why if we read a philosophical book, the unnoticed thing becomes noticed and then understanding of surrounding then desire then thought then stimuli, the best way is to question your fear and if things are not in control then accept it and take responsibility on what's in your control. I wish you all have a great life and freedom of thought next target 10 million. If you want to read a philosophical book then I'll recommend Seven "Spiritual Laws Of Sucess". Regards Pratham.
Actually you are not eliminating your fears; you are changing them. In your story, the guy went from being afraid of not living the life the people around him want him to live, to being afraid of not living the life that he wants to live. Still a great video! Thanks for everything!!
I hardly comment on youtube videos, but the impact of this one pushed me to come say a thank you otherwise ill feel like am so ungrateful. Thank you so so much. I had learnt sometime ago that desires are so powerful, so I longed to know how I can be able to cultivate a desire so that I can fulfill my dreams. This video pointed that out so clearly. Now I know my desire comes from my understanding which comes from my contact with reality. Oh boy! Am going to shake the world with this principle I have just learnt. Thank you so so much
Part of the reason we conform is because the economy demands it of us. The video notes that the student is afraid of not making any money and having to live on the streets, but it doesn't offer any real solutions to that fear. I don't know how much trapeze artists make but there's a reason there aren't that many: the demand is not that high. Poverty is a valid fear; not everyone is able to make a living following their dream, and in the US at least we have no safety net for people who "fail." (Most often the safety net for creative people is their families, therefore the pressure to choose a "normal" career path.) The ideal would be for everyone to follow their dreams, but many of us literally cannot do so without risking our lives.
This is what my main character needs to realize in the novel I'm writing. So glad I found this, it's a nice way of conveying his words in a way anyone can understand. Thank you.
This is just incredible content, well crafted leaving the listener with clarity. Love the use of dialogue. Thank you. “Desires fall away on their own through understanding”
Wow. That brought tears as well as goosebumps. An astute observation on the source of fear and obstacles. Another offshoot thought I got from this is, yes indeed our understanding changes as gain more contact and experience life. But does that change us continuously? If so how to be certain about ourselves?
Speaking for myself only. I'm always trying to change into the best version of myself. Others I've seen have no appetite for knowledge , growth and self improvement. They believe they are perfect as God's and it's the world that's causing all their problem s. Twenty years ago I thought the later . Now I'm like yeah it's probably me and the world that needs to improve. GOD BLESS.
My issue with this take is that thoughts arise from desires. For example, if I’m on a bridge and think about what would happen if I throw my expensive sell phone away down the long drop, I don’t necessarily “want” to throw my phone into the abyss. I believe thoughts come from our mind, and understanding how one’s mind operates if much more useful than understanding desires. Everyone ticks in a different way based on how they grew up and surrounding circumstance. Therefore understanding desires is not enough, where do those desires COME from, and why? That is where you understand how your mind is structured which is informed on how one developed. Loved the video, really made me think.
Merp- this is somewhat true to an extent but also is an easy way to actually dismiss problematic and abusive behavior by other people. I have a boss who loves telling everyone to “change their mindset and thoughts” when he is the most toxic and nasty person ever. He’ll berate you and humiliate you, then tell you “well maybe you just need to change your mindset.” He thinks abusive behavior is a justified because it teaches you to be stronger.
it’s like someone telling you to stop bringing up the past when you hold them accountable just so they don’t have to apologize or change their behavior
I think this stuff should be taught in schools. We live in a time where there's so much fear because of social media and the fast growing world. I say this from my own experience and I just wish I knew this stuff earlier in life.
Great Video Man your work is elegant and I wish more would watch and Internalize your work. Don't give up keep on creating for those who do not live in a philosophical mindset

I always ask every decision of my life from my friends, family and from close ones but then i regret later because everyone told me I'm not that wise and it just become my habit to be with someone but after so many experiences i found that what if i took my decisions by myself, there are also chances of failure but at least they are mine failure and i shouldn't have to do this with me. I started my spritual journey and i tried to understand human behavioural Psychology to understand myself and world. Now I'm working on myself and doing my healing. Now i take do the things what make sense for me independently. Thank you for this wonderful and thoughtful video🙏, it helps me a lot to understand our fear. ✨🙌👏💯
Hear my brothers, hear the voice of the healthy body: a more honest and purer voice is this. More honestly and more purely speaks the healthy body, the perfect and perpendicular body, and it speaks of the meaning of the earth. Thus spoke Zarathustra.
According to Nietzsche, Stoicism teaches the philosopher to escape from life into commerce with the Stoa, suppressing ones passions and will-to-power. Stoicism is therefore a life-denying philosophy using reason as a weapon against the realities of being alive.
Reminds me of Osho vs Buddhism, with buddhists detaching from/rejecting desires but being left in a state of coldness. It's always been my personal pov too. There's one phrase that I found perfectly expressed this: detachment is not that you should own nothing, but that nothing should own you. It's not about rejecting desires or anything worldly and materialistic, it's about enjoying them from a place of no-mind/no-ego where there's no identification with said things, therefore no hope nor expectation, no compulsion nor urge to control and no fear, only will to experience and share.
Did Nietzsche actually talk about this chain of contact understanding desire thought and fear or is it just his quote about being your own worst enemy?
This channel is like a life mentor. I need to keep rewatching these videos over and over again until I completely engrave the lessons into my subconscious mind
Also a question, have you found any philosopher which talks about absolute freedom like Krishnamurti ? Would be helpful if there exists another philosopher just to better understand, coz Krishnamurti's thoughts are somewhat unique
Funny, I end up on the street while pursuing music. When I had a 3 out of six string left on my instrument and no money nor food and friends wanted to call cops cause I was getting to comfortable couchsurfing , I thought that I was selling a value : Beauty , esthetics , good mood and that I should let of the fear or what others will think. Author , spend tree days on empty stomach during a hot summer day performing art and having buddies throwing you on the streets , then council. Real life experience might be a quite different then reading a book.
You do know who Nietzsche is though, right ? And like the person I said above me, there is risk reward factored into this. Not everyone wants to hear everybody’s music; there is a competence hierarchy, you see
There is heavy synchronicity in this video! Truly a great philosopher, you can even see some Buddhist themes in releasing desire. He even takes it a step further and challenges the Buddhist ideals of having no desires, being itself a desire. Its no wonder humanity took 2 centuries to fully appreciate Neitzche's writing
This is often true when trying to advance in life. Someone always demands you live according to their values instead of your own. Therefore the fear of failing and being a failure persists. We all must conquer this, no matter who is the one telling us to live our lives in such a manner we cannot tolerate anymore.
I would add that "understanding" can also be changed to "perspective", sometimes it is the same reality, but the way in which we look at it can change everything
I discovered your channel yesterday and I was just mesmerised by its content. At the same time, I had this big emotion when realising that your words describe my thought and that I'm not alone on the rail of seeking truth by logic.
Not really worried about what others think. Just about keeping the lights on while I explore learning programming or other interests... Hard to balance the two when work is physically and mentally draining to the point that doing much else becomes tiresome. All my goals/desires seems to point to having financial stability and early retirement so I can finally take the time to do the things I want to do.
Perfect timing as well. I’ve learned a lot within the last year, so in searching for truth, I’ve upset a lot of people. Thank you, my fear has been caring what people think of me. Now, i dont care because my own views of the world has changed, so I am not upset anymore because they don’t align with my values.
The only 100% I ever got on a college essay was on Nietzsche. I've always been fascinated by his ideas. Your video has given me true insight into some of his ideas. It feels like my thoughts are already changing for the better! Here's to healing ourselves, which really means freeing ourselves from the shackles of fear.
Thank you so much for these videos you keep uploading, once again, you keep nudging many of us who are alone towards a path of self betterment, and your videos too often come as much needed guidance.
I am my own worst enemy. I struggle to let go of the wreckage of the past. I confuse myself with misplaced anger. I am always looking for the easy way out. It is time now for change. I must now accept a degree of suffering. This will be the precursor of my liberation from wretched self pity.
I mostly agree with the idea except the result of it which is “fear vanishes” because no matter how good your understanding is, fear will never fully vanish as it’s a natural part of us like how happiness and sadness are natural So instead of relying on your fear vanishing for you to do something your scared about for reasons, you should keep moving ahead even when you still feel scared or maybe even terrified to do something because that’s what it means to be strong
One of the greatest people born, Father Tadey had a theory about human thoughts, describing it in a way that "the way you think directly reflects on your life". I think this theory proved itself correct in many ways and I speak from my personal experience as well. I think it is quite similar to this theory. You are your own worst enemy not only because of your fears that drift from your desires, but also because we as people tend to paint ourselves in dark and negative colors and numbness. This works it's way to our brain and mindset and we seriously start seeing the way we think about them and describe them. So in a way, the point is to try and direct our thoughts in a lighter direction, not optimism, but a positive side of realism where we stay truthful to ourselves, still aware of both the negative and positive sides of life but not making it any more difficult with thinking miserably.
Very good. I needed to hear this. Majority of people doesn't understand my way of thinking and I am always in dilemma whether there is something wrong with me or them. Now, I need not care about their thoughts as Understanding or Interpretation of the world is different for all and we shouldn't force to change our/others understanding. Thanks Again!!
So if I understand right: Don't let the people you happen to have around you impose their ideas onto you. Don't serve their ideals to earn their respect. Instead, do what you love and manifest your innermost desires. Then surround yourself with the people who respect you for what it is that you do. This reminds me of the principle that you shouldn't wait for happiness to come from nowhere to motivate you to go and pick up some meaningful work. Instead, do the work no matter how you're feeling now, then you'll be happy with yourself and what you've accomplished. Don't wait for motivation to work. Work, and then you'll be happy. Great lesson, thanks for the video.
these are so great. going through these with dialogue makes them so easy to understand and while doing that they answer all the questions that I would raise too.

This is great, thank you for this. Growing up in an Asian household really instilled prioritizing the opinions of elders, family, friends and complete strangers. My whole life I was raised with the idea of income + Status = success.
I recently started appointments with a therapist who specializes in Asian upbringings to help undo these thoughts. It’s tough but we are definitely making progress!
How's the progress? Any tips?

I believe the same problem persists in eastern cultures but it may just be human nature to seek approval and be a part of the community.
@@gamer-ni5kl It's worst in the east, that's why South Korea has the highest rate of suicide because of Social pressures. The west is more liberal and progressive because such philosophies and social constructs came from the west in the first place, while in the east it's more conservative and traditionalist.
You don't have to strive to be yourself...just remove what you are not, safe landing

"There's no value in judging how you feel. Your feelings are always valid"
Understanding the inner workings of the mind like that is so therapeutic
This is a wonderful interpretation of this idea. It's interesting that the barrier for most people to actualize this way of thinking is the ability to change your mind once new information is presented in "contact". Having the ability to be flexible with your understanding of the world, I think, is a key attribute to living your best life. Knowing that you do not know it all.

If only life was this simple. Fear doesn't stem from desire. Trauma and generational trauma and thoughts/fears about the world are etched on your bodymind in your formative years, when your own cognition is very primal. You can't simply talk your way out of it. It requires much, much more than that.
it says more often than not btw
This is why I don’t like the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality. I’m reality only winning matters in life, the losers are forgotten.
You didn’t get the video’s message at all…
@@j_mokusei he is still afraid
It's simple not easy. Figure out the value you provide and stick with it. Not everyone lasts long enough to come to this conclusion.
Don't make excuses for yourself if you want to live as an artist. It's possible: YOU have to be brave enough to figure it out.
My irony I'm an illustration artist and thought my was never good but watching this I just saw you use illustrations, similar to what I create

Actually you are not eliminating your fears; you are changing them. In your story, the guy went from being afraid of not living the life the people around him want him to live, to being afraid of not living the life that he wants to live. Still a great video! Thanks for everything!!
You can never truly Eliminate your fears you can control and work with them.
You just saved me from a lot of headaches, recently, trying to to please everyone else and abandon myself. Resentful is the right word.

“Desires fall away on their own through understanding”
I went to therapy for three years and you broke this down in minutes. Thank you 🙇🏻♀️
He’ll berate you and humiliate you, then tell you “well maybe you just need to change your mindset.” He thinks abusive behavior is a justified because it teaches you to be stronger.
yup ! narcissists use that tactic all the time to escape accountability
it’s like someone telling you to stop bringing up the past when you hold them accountable just so they don’t have to apologize or change their behavior
I think this stuff should be taught in schools. We live in a time where there's so much fear because of social media and the fast growing world. I say this from my own experience and I just wish I knew this stuff earlier in life.

"... and then the student walked away, became an artist, nobody payed him for his art and two weeks later he died from hunger."

Amazed by how deeply it was.
I am my own worst enemy. I struggle to let go of the wreckage of the past. I confuse myself with misplaced anger. I am always looking for the easy way out.
It is time now for change.
I must now accept a degree of suffering. This will be the precursor of my liberation from wretched self pity.
I mostly agree with the idea except the result of it which is “fear vanishes” because no matter how good your understanding is, fear will never fully vanish as it’s a natural part of us like how happiness and sadness are natural
So instead of relying on your fear vanishing for you to do something your scared about for reasons, you should keep moving ahead even when you still feel scared or maybe even terrified to do something because that’s what it means to be strong
Literally Earned my subscription after this video and earlier video of not caring about opinions 😎👍
So if I understand right:
Don't let the people you happen to have around you impose their ideas onto you.
