    Great video as always, though I would like to add some things.
    Dragons might actually be pre-conjunction creatures as some, such as the red dragon Ocvist, are rumored to be over a million years old, far older than the Conjunction of the Spheres. Additionally it is implied that humans are actually post-conjunction 'creatures' too, as they arrived on the Continent after the Conjunction had already occurred.

    I love magic in general. The Witcher is an interesting world with Magic as it's implied to be rather simple to learn, difficult to master, and simultaneously horded. Although if I could I'd learn the Sign magic and open a school teaching that. What it lacks in power it makes up for in versatility, safety, and ease of use.

    Randomly recommended your channel, probably because I was watching Witcher videos.
    Really enjoying the lore videos. Had a quick look at your channel. I don't play MTG or have any interest in playing it but I like the way you talk about lore and think I'd enjoy your videos talking about the lore even if I have no intention of playing the game.
    Subscribed and bell alerts. Decided to leave a comment because I hear it helps the algorithm.
    Hope your channel grows. As I said, no real interest in MGT but would enjoy hearing you talk about other fiction/fantasy if you ever think about branching out again like these Witcher videos

      I’d personally have to say vampires. How the Witcher frames vampires is just so cool. They are these immensely powerful mostly immortal beings from a world where most of the beings are like that. And so strong even witchers would rather avoid them.

    Well there are pretty much 2 main kinds of monsters. Monstrous creatures and true monsters. Monstrous creatures are pretty much animals in their own worlds and thus fill an ecological niche and exist in this world due to conjunction of spheres. Although they are invasive and often hideous, I wouldn't call them true monsters (Arachas, ghouls in all forms, unintelligent draconids, lesser vampires etc.). Then there are true monsters and true monsters are unnatural beings... those are creatures created with magic like golems, most undead, cursed people in their monstrous form and more. The other type are monsters that are spontaneously appearing thanks to magic such as wraiths and ghosts.

    • @teekay851

    The elves were on the continent before the conjunction and already knew and used magic, also it was the elves that taught the invading humans magic after they arrived due to the cojunction? This video seems to have a few things wrong, but it may be me.

    • @TheLorebrarians
      @TheLorebrarians  2 года назад +3

      Perhaps the elves had access to Magic from their world before the conjunction, but magic was not a force on the world until the conjunction. It's described as an offspring of the cataclysm and in the world of the witcher book it states that chaos was present only after the conjunction. At least that was my interpretation

  • @pazma1
    @pazma1 2 года назад +1

    I don't know if I have this correct, but worlds collided and some of each world's inhabitants were deposited into the world we now know from the The Witcher stories.
    So does that mean that there's a world where humans originated from? Would that be our world?
    Also, was this originally the Elve's world?

    • @josephbendoski4305
      @josephbendoski4305 2 года назад +1

      Some spoilers.
      The specifics of the Conjunction of Spheres are not known. Little writing survives from that time, and even when it happened, much is not understood by the sentient races.
      Eventually, Cirilla develops the power to move between worlds. At one point, she finds herself in England during the time of King Arthur and his knights. This could be understood as her entering out world, or perhaps only a similar world were that mythology really happened.

      This is not the elves original world

    • @communizzy
      @communizzy Год назад +1

      To answer your first question, as far as I remember, there is strong evidence to suggest that the humans of the world of the Witcher are descendants of humans from our world. Notably, many stories mentioned as ancient human tales are corrupted forms of stories from our world. A fun one off the top of my head was in the Witcher 3, a book mentions ancient tales, and names the story of Ecila going down the ferret hole, or as you may know it, Alice going down the rabbit hole: Alice in Wonderland. There are also examples of these in the books, but I sadly can’t pull them from memory.

    • @PinkyJustice
      @PinkyJustice Год назад

      @@communizzy "strong evidence" is the right way to put it, because it all but confirms humans in that world are the descendants of humans pulled from our world during an "interpenetration of spheres." And, in fact, most creatures in the world except gnomes are likely from other worlds.
      In an older translation, it feels as if the ships the elves arrive in are likely spaceships whose purpose and capability were misunderstood by the beings that saw them.
      Like, super advanced space faring race that finds essentially a utopia and decides to colonize and live in harmony with the inhabitants...
      It also lets you have head canon like "the Roanoke disappearance could have been a conjunction event" or "are the more peaceful elves the elves of the world's universe who stumbled upon it via normal space exploration, and the more hostile, exploitative elves a version of the species from an alternate dimension, but because they're so similar and feel so equally superior to everything else, they commingle and get their motivations all confused?"
      And they definitely reference the beauty and the beast story, and the idea of leprechauns hiding gold at the end of rainbows and stuff like that...
      It's my favorite fantasy trope in spades, though: fantasy world, sci Fi ancient history.

      Imagina being able to pick Witcher, Mage or Soldier, and than being able to choose where you belong.
      IF you choose Witcher, being able to choose the school
      If you choose soldier, being able to choose which kingdom...
      Of course the balance of the game would be ESSENTIAL so that not everyone chooses Witcher, but the idea would be very interesting if well implemented
