@@smille12 very true. I used to be a diehard jeepster. I owned a 1992 wrangler, a 1995 jeep cherokee... man, those things lasted forever. Then I did the stupid thing by selling both and buying a 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited.... what a pos.... it was head aches after head aches! Engine went out, transmission blew, the death wobble happened to me at least 5 times.... never again will I own a jeep... I then bought a brand new 2011 Toyota 4runner unlimited in 2012, and I still have it til this very day.l! It has been problem-free after 240k miles, and still drives like new!

@Flub_Kub yeh, I noticed after 2005 when Chrysler sold out to fiat then became part of multiple European companies the jeep pretty much was no more in quality, they did away with the engine and put the mini van engine in .pretty much Frankenstein the product. The older jeeps are ok but the newer ones are a fail unfortunately

I bought my 40th anniversary last December. I had to reserve it when it was incoming. Drove it off the lot with 2 miles on the odometer. A little over a year later it's been all over. On and off road. 24k miles already and nothing but smiles and great memories! I had it undercoated and that's honestly it. Going to take my time with mods. Tires will be first when they're due. I wanted to jump on the 23' because I wanted the legendary 4L drive train etc. I love how simple it is, zero complains. MPG isnt the best and probably the last modern vehicle with a 5 speed auto lol but worth it in my opinion. Great video! I'll definitely be sad in a few decades when this thing dies. Until then, everyone enjoy!

Toyota’s motor was their choice. If they were concerned about power, they’d keep the v8 or even supercharge the 4L. So, current 4 cyl 4runner is a reason I will not buy it. I drove 4cyl at taco and 4cyl 4runner is no different , motor sounds like my lawnmower tractor. Now, Toyota can crash and burn with every turbo engine that Toyota has. Toyota has issues with their 3.5 L turbo and they are now going to have issues with their 4cyl. = most of Toyota vehicles now are garbage… buy pre turbo versions and let the new junk rust on their lot.

      @MeynMotorGroup  9 месяцев назад

"high mileage" is defined differently to different people to some like me 60k miles is high to others it can be 100k, 150k, 250k, 400k, etc.
Obviously if you find 2 4runners that cost $15k but one had 150k miles and the other had 250k miles, def go with the one with less miles.
I thought it was obvious so I didn't think I would have to explain that but glad you stopped by my friend because it's not obvious to everyone.

    • @teddynaicker2997

I do get your point Sir. Not here to argue or debate. It's just a general rule of thumb is lower the mileage and less wear and tear to worry about and less visit to the repair shop.
20 years back when I wasn't financially stable as now then I bought cars with higher mileage coz that's all I could afford, and I remember it was like buying someone else's problem.
I was fortunate enough to be able to buy newer vehicles afterwards and couldn't be happier.
Bought a 2018 4runner Sr5 Premium brand new and traded it for a 2023 4runner back in April , same trim. Just wanted the upgraded features that was lacking in 2018. I traded my 2018 with 44,000 kms and it still ran like day one with zero rattle. Love my upgraded 2023 Sr5 Premium.

@@teddynaicker2997 I’m so glad you have a 2018 my friend that is great to hear and thanks so much for taking the time to share your experiences with high mileage cars. This is exactly why on my channel I would tell people to stay away from many used cars and try to find something in their budget that is ideally a new car. Sadly, it’s impossible for many families and their budget truly is something below $15k and they don’t have a choice. Of course interest rates are sky high on used cars so I really feel for those stuck shopping in the used high mileage segment

I always appreciate when you do videos like this because you're practical in your reviews and analysis
I'm sure I've mentioned it before here but I bought my 2016 4Runner Trail Edition new in late May 2017. I'm closing in on 187K miles on the ODO as of this post. I've had only one major repair (leaking water pump replaced at 108K). Other than that, it's been routine maintenance with normal "wear and tear" items (e.g. brakes, tires, oil, etc).
The 4Runner is the last of its kind here in (North) America. Tried and true. Simple and rugged. Nothing super fancy with these rigs but they get the job done on a consistent. If you want a more comfortable ride: go RAV4 or Highlander. You want more power? Go with the Lexus GX460. The same with luxury. Every vehicle has its pros and cons.
All the issues that MMG mention are legit but if you're want a mid-size BoF SUV, that is true to that name, look no further than the 4Runner.

As the original owner of a 2008 SR5 RWD 4Runner I can say that it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. After over 15 years it has been flawless, with no problems at all (fluid changes and tires the only things I replaced). Everything still looks and works like new, not bad for the original price of 28K. I hope the next version of the 4Runner continues this level of reliability, character and simple design. I do find it sad that my beautiful red color is not stocked be dealers, all they want to sell is white or black..

Just goes to show that old school proven reliability with conservative technology prints money for Toyota, pure profit.
The 1GR-FE has been around in an earlier form since 2003 and is by far the most reliable SUV engine available today. It’ll remain in production for the Land Cruiser series sold in the Middle East for years to come. An absolute legend of an engine.

Picked quite a bit of power, but now I’m getting coolant in the combustion chamber after a hard highway pull. Hoping I don’t have cracked heads and it’s just the gaskets. New heads are $2,700 😢. 4Runner is fine in rain you just need good tires like All season with vertical water evacuation lines or if you must go All terrain tire, the Continental Terrain Contact AT. The more aggressive the AT tire, the worse it will do in rain especially if it doesn’t have those vertical lines. Only drawback to driving the 4Runner is under very windy conditions. People have no idea what they’re talking about, always get the newest model year, I just bought a 2024 SR5 Premium 4x4 the Bridgestone Dueller OEM tires have been great.

I would challenge you on your max tow ratings between the earlier pre-2017 and 2017+ 5th gen 4Runners. My owners manual rates my 2015 4Runner Trail Edition as having a max tow rating of 5,000 lbs, not 4,700 as your video indicated. On some of the similar 2007-2014 FJ Cruisers there was a 4,700 pound tow rating, so that might be the source of confusion. Your source might be wrong.
