Right on brother! I am a glazier who learned auto glass in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1980's. It's been over 25 years since I replaced a urethane set windshield. I own a 1998 Toyota Tacoma and am going to replace the windshield next week. I appreciate your skills and your close attention to details.
One bit of advice... when running the cut out knife around the pinch weld, I always pull it. Pushing it allows the possibility that the knife can come out and scratch the paint.
Thank you. It can only get better with continued education. I wish that other shops atleast have the basics down, but I've learned otherwise. I'm always looking forward to learning new techniques to improve my current position. Thanks again, Ko
Starting my own business in north San Diego. Good job came out nice. Good video to people to watch. But always hire a trained professional! Good video!
Thanks Lagloko2 ..I watched your 2 vids and did this ..took me a little more time ,but i did it right..i had to take some rust out of my pinch weld...its primed better than new and im pleased..good luck at csu
Sorry, I was tired and the video took too long to upload. I didn't notice the misspelled words until I watched it myself. So, I decided to let it go the way it is. Thanks for watching:)) Ko That's why I'm back in school working on a transfer to CSU next spring.

Ha, before watching this i throught removing the windsheild is just sit in the car and kick the glass from inside. It actually involve quite a bit of work!
Having watched your video, you have a reasonable standard but there is definite room for improvement in areas of health and safety, surface contamination prevention and cutting technique.
Your remark is a lot over the top. I just did my windshield. It was very tough without the right tools but, Very Do Able. People need to have faith in themselves and not succumb to every Tom, Dick and John Naysayer who is unwilling to even try. This is not brain surgery; it's common sense and cautious perseverance.
countusin2 Hack work? Get real man. Replaced over 5,000 windshields over the past year, and the only leaking windshields are ones other companies have done. Over 95% of the work I do is on the road. You don't know anything about this business.
KingofSpades lol. We have our road crew, which is two people, and our shop crew, which is two people. Shop was doing around 10-15 a day, and the road was 8-12 a day. We aren't a hack.
First of all you don't have the right cloths, your buttons will scratch the car you don't hold the cold knife secured way. my other comment will come later
Nobody should attempt to replace there own windshield, Let a pro do it.... This is stupid to think that after watching this video you could do this yourself.... What he refers to as a "pull knife" is really called a "cold knife" they don't sell these at Walmart.. and if you think you can pull one of these as easy as it looks take my advise and have an ER close by,,,,,
Actually Walmart has them to order. harbor freight on the shelves. But I never use a coke knife these days. I use an oscillating tool and it cuts them right out. So don’t let these glass guys scare you from doing this. It’s super easy just buy the right glue from an auto parts store and heat The tube up in some hot water in a bucket.
