That's how we did them back in the day. I have one to replace and was just checking videos to see if there was anything new out there. You just confirmed the Old School is still the best School.
No it isnt. The way did it was sit in the center of the front seat and take both feet and kick the chit out the upper middle and it popped out, same as today
@@EarlGuyton425 disagree. Some of the car models we have here, the windshield is glued with a kind of hard silicone. You don’t have a snowball’s hope in hell to get it loose without cutting the silicone!
It look sooo easy ! I have rust issue around the windshield, now i'm confident enough to start the project . All because of you ! Thanks for the video !
I thought I was confident. I did not want to use wire, I was pressed for time. I used the tool that looks like a surgical instrument with two handles and a small 90* blade. The urithane was so tough that it drove the blade into the glass. Because of the edge, i could not remove the tool. reversing, moving forward, and removal of tool all cracked my replacemnt at the junkyard. I'm counting on the wire. I only have one more chance at a farther junk yard since i broke the only one in a 15 mile radius. ill give myself more than a half hour. Funny thing is, i would have had plenty of time to use the wire if I did not run litterally to the other side of this huge junkyard to get a can of solvent i passed up when i figured i should clean the glass so suction cups will work. I went and got the can and when i got back went to open it and the screw lid was gammed so poked it. poured some on ground to check it and out came black paint! IN A SOLVENT CAN! to be fair, if I had read it, i would have known instantly but somehow did not notice the sticker had any info on it. I think i thought the can was blank or expected there not to be anything written on it.
Awesome job! That's similar to how we use to do it in the old days except we just used two people. Very nice, thank you for posting! extremely fun to watch.
I took my windshield out, it was broken but I really messed it up a lot more. Then I was cleaning the replacement and I cracked it. So now I'm wondering if I should try again and cut my loses.
I/16 inch, 96 lb. Wire from home depot. I'm sorry I don't know the exact size of the rope because I only used 1 major strand out of 7 from the rope itself.
Saw 2 older guys pull a windshield off a Chrysler Concorde in a salvage yard, few hrs later they walked it into the shop to pay for it, sat it down.... "Pop" it cracked
A much easier way is to sit in the middle of the front seat, and with good shoes just take both feet and kick the chit out of the upper center area around the middle and they all pop out
the easy way would be to remove the side rubber weather strip, and expose the 3-4 screws that holding the side molding, and just take them off, metal wire damages the paint severely, not matter how careful one trying to be, and could be seen in your video, im not saying you did a horrible job with the given tools, but definitely not an easy or efficient way, besides that - good try.
This is NOT an easy way to remove a windshield, WAY too hard. Buy yourself a side cutting electric blade off Ebay or whatever and use a HackOPS™ 1” Multi Tool Cold Knife Blade Windshield Removal Auto Glass Cut Out. Cost about $20 per blade.
It is when these on-line scam bait n' switch places quote your $270 for the job on-line, but then $670 when you actually call to schedule an appointment. I too am driving an old beater car, no longer with the comprehensive -- and I even used to work a glass shop as a summer job.... 40 years ago.... so I'm game to try this method. (and yes, $49 for a replacement "oem" windshield from a pick 'n pull yard.....)
The price of glass has gone up and I have a baseball sized hole on my windshield. I went to the local u auto pull it and got one for $25. Came out easy but took like forty minutes for me to do alone. No cracks and I saved $250. I will not pay over $200 for a windshield if the car isn't a BMW.

Thumbs up to Old School !!

Awesome video; no BS talking - straight to the point. Many thanks!
You just made my life a whole lot easier, saved me hours of struggling, spared me from injury, and plenty bucks not wasted. Thanks!!
All you have to do is sit in the front center of the seat and kick it with both feet and they pop right out
@@EarlGuyton425 a glued windshield? You will be kicking until 2 days after the second coming!😂
@@rockspyder3970 No windshield is glued. They pop right out after a few bumps with the feet. Even glue hardens and cracks in places where it is used

Same reason I have to remove mine.

Yeah same issue... I'm concerned about reinstallation and the airbag though... issue you think?

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! YOU JUST SAVED ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!
You are the man. Thanks for your video. No special tools. Just getting it done!
Thanks for the great video. Simple, self explanatory and straight to the point.
Anyone know the suicide hotline number… this music…
Are you ok there?
😂😂
😂 I find it very calming and soothing
I’m with ya man. “Slightly out of tune grand piano recorded with plugged iPhone 4S microphone” ain’t my kind of music for windshield urethane cutting.
I'd tell ya , but I'm already dead . I couldn't take no more of the music. 😊
Now the pulling technique looks 👌... I'm going to give strimmer line a try🤷♂️🤠
brilliant idea with the steel rope.
Best trick I’ve ever watched. Thanks
I am going to try one in the junk yard for my car 。 thanks a lot
No brand, No name tool is the most efficient and safe tool!
At first I wondered how you could "saw" the top and bottom because arems wont reach. I see now
i use really strong fishing line, NEVER SAW it, you use very thin wire or line and you use lots of soap and you pull and that cuts it
What do you use exactly?
I never comment on these videos but... that was good very helpful!!
I went to the junk yard and yanked out the throttle cable and stuck the dip stick through the seal and fed the throttle cable through
Well done you made it soo so easy
I love the sarcasm, i feel it right now.
man, this is absolutely genius , thank you!
PERFECT JOB....EXCELLENT WORK 💪👷👌👏🙌👍💪
Very good video. Thanks & good job bro... From Malaysia...

I am thinking that MIG welding wire would not snap. Tomorrow I will try, have to cut out the old windscreen.
great technique!
What a great music video brought a tear to my eye. Now I have the sniffles…🥹😢
Piano wire or guitar wire should do the trick they come in all different sizes
I have a one of a kind car... After 2 years of searching I found another one scrapped with a good windshield... I'm terrified to try this.
Some people said impossible to remove without breaking...
Those people were wrong
This video is very helpful
Nice church song my friend

2 RULES:
1. NO metal tools (except wire)
2. DON'T chew on the dam GLASS!

Good video.¡Gracias!
How do you deal with the mist
💪
Perfecto
😎👍
super
Realistically
Windows is cracked already
Lol yall made it look hard, yall took the whole car apart lol.... really
The only part to be made easier is cutting the adhesive. Looks like a strong threaded cable is the key
Hahaha

Jesus Christ dude, just call a professional. Windshield replacement is not a DIY project
Yes it is a diy project 😀
why bro? the guy did an excellent efficient and careful job, all by himself and didnt crack the glass...props to him

I have a few old project cars. The local shops won't do removal and reinstall of existing glass.
