An interesting fact, Paul Hirsch, edited both Ferris Bueller and the secret of my success. So he obviously loved the oh yeah song and put it in both movies.

Bravo gentlemen, I enjoyed your review. I love this movie, have since 1987 so I was disappointed to find so few reactions when I went looking. You guys talked about MJF's charisma and I 100% agree. But let's take a moment to acknowledge his top-notch physical comedy too. For me at least, it overcomes the cringe-worthy 80's bits that don't age so well.
This was a movie that really was not written well, and I think it was that way on purpose... what they considered a "tax write-off" type B-film with high level cast members. But I loved it. Grease 2 was done the same way, unfortunately, but I loved it too. The movie had its own flavor, so it has lots of fans, like it should. Thanks for the review, enjoyed it.

@@TheBestPill-no2xp I still sing ALL of them. About 1000x I've watched this movie since 1984... I'm sad, I know, and IDGAF LMAO One of the Pink Ladies has my name on her jacket... I won't say who... and no, it's NOT Frenchy or Rhonda!
You mentioning St. Elmo’s Fire is very fitting because David Foster scored both movies and both have that similar synthy sound to them.
I agree. I've noticed several 1980s movies with the synthy and saxophone score, it started to become typical of the mid-late 80s. In "Secret of my success" the synth sax score (with some resemblance to St. Elmo's Fire) began filling the later scene at the country estate while Fox's character Branty was mingling around with the other executives and stockholders (not long before the Oh-Yeah bit inside the house). Another similar synth sax score was in "Hello again" (Shelly Long) which played over the opening credits and in bits throughout that movie.
Another fun-fact, during the opening montage title song of "Secret of my success" while the stream of women walked by, while one of them was Cindy Crawford (as pointed out in video), the tall dark haired woman who walked by after her was Sela Ward who also played Shelley Long's friend Kim in "Hello again" (and Richard Kimble's murdered wife in "The fugitive").
@@alvexok5523 absolutely. Mannequin is another one with an awesome synth score. Knew about Cindy…didn’t know about Sela 🤯.
@@anothermonday5664 Yeah, she walks by after Cindy. You're right that Manniquin had some good 80s music in it also, Starship's "Nothing's gonna stop us now" was a good song
I had no idea that MJF was a smoker back then. When I saw the shoe thing when watching this movie, I figured he was just wearing a well worn pair of shoes and stepped on something while walking around.
The scene where he takes the phone call , his hair looks different at the end of that scene, it’s short at first and then becomes long all of the sudden
