I like both Mikes. But two different beast imo. Personally I like the energy Portnoy brings to DT over Mangini. But Mangini is the more technical drummer with the chops Portnoy doesn't come close to. Marry these two drummers together and it would be a scary good thing.
Mmmmmm Mike is the best example of love and passion for your craft. So much inspiration in one video! I still remember hearing him do a drum solo while I was sitting on the floor of a music store (Daddy's Junky Music) across from Berklee in 2008. I was about 4 feet from his left foot and it was surreal just hearing him solo for 10-15 min straight and then meeting him afterward. He made everything feel so natural and human which is so the opposite of what some people say he lacked in DT. When I saw him play up close and then talked to him after, I could really tell how freely creative yet focused and devoted he is to the drums, with his ideas, and also how nice or a person he is. Any band would be lucky to have him.
What an amazing piece…I remember listening to it for the first time, and had to keep going back to those double bass sections and thinking to myself this was like “bleed” on steroids. Absolutely unparalleled style and precision ❤
To be honest I had never heard a drummer like Portnoy. I couldn't believe he could ever be replaced. MM is so good, but different from Portnoy and in a good way that fit DT. I can't wait to hear him in a new band. His technique is among the best and I have seen him play 5 times, once twice for same show. Superb drummer/teacher
I may be reading into this video, but why do I get the feeling based on the looks Mike M. is showing on this video at the beginning that it’s a subtle hint to Mike P. that “this is how it goes man!” For the record, respect to both for as talented as they are!
Mangini is another level. Portnoy can't play his stuff. Some people say Mangini was boring, but have you heard the new material from DT? Night Terror is copy of As I am. I miss Mangini... he always playd fresh parts
Portnoy era sebelum black cloud asli mantep bener maennya, tapi habis itu langsung anjlok dia-kayak kehabisan ide kreatif, beda sama Mangini, dari album awal bareng DT-dramatic event lgsg bikin melongo-On the back of angel, outrcy, forgotten, lgsg bikin melongo. Apalagi album2 setelahnya.. Kalau diulik bikin kepala migrain doang.. 😁 asli bener2 Professor ni orang sih, sarap bener kalau bikin komposisi.
Portnoy's comeback proves that that old formula for DT just doesn't work anymore. James LaBrie is done for, they're trying to perform like the old DT, but that just doesn't work. Poor guy sounds like a screaming lady whose purse got stolen. Mike you were the only force in DT that was pushing them toward something new and View was a VERY promising album for the future. You symbolise the evolution of DT and maybe you could have saved the group somehow. Maybe you saw it before, James' decline, and maybe that's one of the reasons you quit. You're loyal to the arts and not to the money.
Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Mike Mangini. 👍👍
We are all ready for that! 🎉
❤❤
Totalmente, esa es la ecuación!
"There's no replacing anyone in this band...even the 'new guy'" - Geddy Lee

Mike, your Dream Theater's legacy just keeps growing and growing. You made them better (IMO).

The one and only Mike Mangini..❤🔥
Mike should absolutely get in touch with Geddy Lee and sort out some project! They both deserve to play in sold out arenas.
I think so
Pretty sure they both did. On multiple occasions.

Yes. And he is 62 years old
Another jewel from the MM vault.
This song is the one I always thought MM would be remembered for for its shear difficulty. Any drummer would struggle to duplicate this. Just Amazing
My favorite prog drummer! GOAT!!
DT is not the same without MM😢 we miss you
Jajaja fans de DT?
@@rowenkings2799 - It's so hollowed out now. Void of drumming nutrients.
It’s more like Dream-On Theater now after hearing the latest singles :(
@@bugravardal6432 the singles aren’t a problem when compared to the problem that is JAMES LABRIE.
Outcry is my favorite drumming track off of ADTOE. Thanks for uploading this video!
Genius! And unmatched. Thank God we’ve got 13 years of this. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
So relaxed, nonchalantly goofing off in something full of twists and turns, amazing

This part is the highlight of the entire Dramatic Turn of Events album. So intense, heavy, and off-the-rails.
love the double bass transitions a lot! thank you master!
I’ve always loved your drumming on ADToE. 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
@@FacePallm94 - Me too!
hypnotic drumming 🙌
Incredible creativity and …..fantastic hear the drum sound real not processed

I clearly remember that clinic! I was there and it was awesome to see you playing all thats amazing stuff!
So Lucky!

I love Mangini groove n tempo.❤
Mike the Master Mangini is the goat period

Amazing Song!!!
This is the mm we love to see, all smiles and fun during playing.. I kind of missed that during DT if that makes sense
Playing with happiness 👏👏👏👏
We want more..please..
Mike portnoy gaakan bisa kyk gitu. Love Mike Mangini ❤
Esse cara e o mais técnico em uma banda que eu já vi verdadeiro extra terrestre 😅😅😅
Caspita ! un tempo very very difficult 💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘💪💪💪👍👍👍
Always great even when playing easy.
when you hear the drum in new DT songs and then compare it to Outcry or any other song from ADTOE the difference is like day and night
Awesome Mike!

@ericsterk4042 - A lot of people would say thing like that that are subjective to try and give Portnoy a win at something.
Blah...Lost Not Forgotten is copy of Under a Glass Moon, and many other examples...
Mike Rules 🎉
Mike you are the best Dream Theater's drummer ever. And you are so friendly. Thank you Mike ❤👍🤘
Awesome!!!
The Best!!
Full video please
What exactly IS a portnoy?
😂😂😂😂
I think I know this guy 😎🤘🏻
Sim, sou o presidente do clube "Viúvas do MM". Vida longa, mestre!
🤘
It's a monster!!
How can you remember all those details?
Wow !!!
Dance of Eternity has left the chat...
Awesome! When was this recorded?
waw
Why do drum clinics in Italy and Spain need a translator? In my country (Serbia) every drummer understand English very well.
мне кажется что эту песню не будут играть теперешним составом.
MM making fun of his drum parts lol
Es una bestia este cabron
Será que o Portnoy consegue tocar essa música?
He is not move his body,so look unlively but MP look lively more😮
MM can play MP drum parts n MP can’t play MM drum parts
Ok
No, portnoy cant play Manginis part
Its true

Let's see can portnoy play songs from mangini🤭
Portnoy it will never play like that!)))
Sorry but Virgil Donati makes this guy look extremely average
That's just too much. Like, way overplayed. Technically amazing, but totally unnecessary. Bravo.
