He was basically the 'It' boy of 80s and 90s British musical theatre. He had boyish good looks, charisma and a show stopping voice. He starred in everything from Les Mis (he was the first British Marius), Aspects of Love, Phantom Of The Opera, Chess (he originated the lead role both in London and Broadway), Sweeney Todd, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Hairspray. He also has 4 UK no.1 albums, and the song 'Love Changes Everything', from Chess, made him a household name.
"Well, I'm a writer" - that sweet, cheeky expression on his face... totally adorable! I fell in love with him. He sings this song perfectly in my opinion but the orchestra behind him is way too loud.
I thought the words were "While I'm arriving", rendering the previous lines all sexual innuendos. It's still my fave line through the entire song and I refuse to sing it any other way.
@@catsnmi270 wow, reacting to a comment I made 4 years ago!! But no, I'm not American, I'm from the Netherlands. I've heard many versions of this song, and I just don't like this one....
Man, he's so excellent to watch. The voice falls out of him like velvet - it really is an incredible gift.
love michael's version. the best version to me
Are you nuts?
I have just discovered this guy, and he’s amazing.

I recommend him in the 2019 Les Miserable Stage concert. He’s fantastic as Jevert!
@@christianjohnson434 Thank you, dear friend.
I love this show. Music and words.
Fantastic
He is so AWESOME! The voice. The face. The way he puts his whole self into a song. Aloha Michael
Dear Michael: You are so enticing!
He is SOOOOOO good!!!
love this!!!!
Pure passion!
Different show by Sondheim

Perfectly cynical...

Me, too. I absolutely adore him!
You’re right about the Orkestra.
Sunset Boooolevard?
The actual word is quite hard to sing properly. XD
Ha ha! It sticks out a bit! 😄
Yup. Always a British giveaway. From the French...very short Bu. Always Americans never say booo.
He recorded a version with the American pronunciation
it is fantastic show,i feel all the words pale before it.
My favorite Marius 😍😍😍
THE WAY HE SAID WELL IM A WRITER IM CRYING HES SO BEAUTIFUL-
Excellent performance! Really enjoyed it.
Well done Michael, you did a great rendition
Lovely!!!
Why doesnt M. BALL have a DVD?😢
As usual the best! Thank you 🙏
He is the best I love you Michael ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He’s as good as Alan Campbell!😊
The “d” at the end should be silent
Do you notice all the negative remarks are from men?
They're just envy him 🤣🤣
It's alright I suppose.
M
Preparing himself for Sweeney Todd?
Been there and did that, he was great.
Sorry but I can't get over how he says "boulevard". It just sounds wrong. Its bullevard not booolevard. Boo boo boo
The excessive emphasis on the word "Boulevard" is absolutely exaggerated and not very beautiful.
I still prefer the romantic incarnation in Gumshoe
His pronunciation of boulevard is too distracting, should be bull-leh-vard, not boo-lee-vard. It makes the whole song sound weird.
😜😜😜
Ugh
Dreadfull how he brings this grand song.. go take a hike man really.... djeeeeezes!!!!!
john barrowman is better
John Barrowman does a good job, but he doesn't have the depth in his voice that Michael Ball has.
barrowman is a good actor but he cant touch michael when it comes to singing
This is amazing! This matches Ramin Karimloo!
There both great and add there own take on it and I love that
Michael really is like a Butlins red coat who got lucky. He is the cheesiest performer ever to hold a mic.
not up to your usual high standard
nothing special...
Nah, too much overacting for my taste. Feels fake.
Nonsense! You must be American to say that. Most Americans don't like musicals which are always dramatic.
