Hernando Beach Nearshore Fishing | Grouper and HoundFish

We took the bay boat out 7 miles to Johnson's Rock and caught grouper and houndfish on light tackle. I was using a Daiwa 3000 size reel on a medium light rod with 15lb braid. The grouper was just shy of 28inches --- and man was that a fun fight! The only downside? Catch and release only right now! :(

Funny going back and watching my early videos. I have learned SO much since then, it makes the excitement seem silly (so many big catches since). I will say there's something to be said for being so green with fishing, the excitement was overwhelming. More videos to come soon (I wish I could remember to turn on my go pro more often lol).

It's "Johnson's Rock Obstruction Day Beacon" - it's just west of Bayport North Rack Light (they're very close to each other).
