Bloomingdale's
This department store has a good selection of leather jackets. He points out the AllSaints leather jacket with a price point around $450. If you want a more rugged All Saints jacket like a biker jacket, the leather is amazing at $498! John Varvatos is another designer that makes beautiful leather jackets, but the selection is not huge. The leather is super soft. The downside is the price is high around $600 - $800, and even though the jacket is an investment, it's still pricey.
Banana Republic
The suede jacket is sexy, and he loves it. It's like a denim jacket in terms of the styling, and it's light-weight leather jacket. But at $450, he's unsure.
7 for All Mankind
The jacket is $800 with a soft and supple leather. It has a cool aesthetic and a crowd-pleaser. The motorcycle jacket is $1,000 -- it's very heavy and a cool style.
Topman, H&M, Forever 21
These three stores don't have real leather as it's out of their price comfort zone. But they'll have faux leather in the $100 - $300 range. For example, Topman's is $220 which is an option for vegans, but it definitely feels 'not leather'.
EXPRESS
They don't have a great selection: brown suede and a motorcycle, each at $300.
DIESEL
They have a good selection but very expensive. The quality is okay but better options are out there. Alpha points out a leather bomber with a pattern.
Coach
Coach leather jackets look beautiful, but they feel cheap now -- but for $1,200 the leather should feel amazing.
Macy's
He finds a leather jacket by Michael Kors for $199.99 and then also a Guess jacket for $225 that is not leather. For this price point, he recommends finding a jacket that is real leather.

You should give Fox Creek Leather a look. They seem to make some high quality jackets. They're tailored specifically for riding bikes. They're classically styled, but have breathable vents you can unzip, slots for armor and have the awesome '50s style belt buckles. Oh, and they're in the $400 - $500 range, while Schott jackets are no less than $750.

I’d definitely go for a schott or Langlitz etc. Don’t get me wrong I can’t justify spending 400 bucks on Japanese jeans. Leather goods are a whole other thing though

The answer is Schott NYC, which some other commenters seem to realize even though you apparently do not.
Schott's are nice but there's also a company called Soul Revolver that makes amazing leather and suede jackets for a little bit less money. A company called Denzell also makes really nice, affordable jackets. Of course these aren't exactly local so shipping and returns may take a bit but that doesn't bother me much.

Tom Foolery pricing is relative to other leather jackets on the market, not one’s own personal idea of what a given leather jacket should cost. I don’t mean that in a rude way btw. But if you look at the market you see a good leather jacket that’s made well using quality materials that will last you a lifetime or more start around a grand. For heirloom quality leather, Schott is actually at the bottom end; that’s where you start and it only gets better and more costly from there. Lost Worlds tends to be more expensive, and Aero who are really popular and highly regarded are expensive as shit. Schott really are the best all around leather jacket maker there is imo. As to styling I’m baffled that you don’t think Schott are stylish. They literally invented that double rider silhouette. Irving Schott patented it in 1927 or 1928. There’s a maker in England called Lewis Leathers that make a great jacket as well and the styling is super British but I love it I can’t wait to own one. They don’t have the back gussets like Schott does tho so you wouldn’t be able to ride well in it and it would be restrictive just in general esp if you wear it Ramones style super tight tee shirt only. Check em out and yeah lmk what you think is stylish regarding leather jackets. Thanks bro.
@@gnarctopus When I think budget friendly leather jackets I would think around 300-500 bucks. But you definitely won't get top shelf for that price.
Personally I think that if you're going to spend a grand on a jacket you might as well go all out and not think about budget, maybe get one custom made for around 5 grand.
As for style, my personal preference is a clean lightweight leather jacket without to much bells and wissels. A jacket that's little leaner on the waist and doesn't have somewhat longer sleeves that you would see on a biker jacket. I'm not too big a fan of the thick biker jacket look in general.
But I shouldn't have called all Schott NYC jackets unstylish, that was a little hasty on my part.

I bought a Levi's biker jacket soft qaulity leather solid vintage brand .it pretty much pays for itself.if you want a nice jacket buy Levi's
I got my first jacket at Wilson’s. It’s a beautiful brown bomber that has aged amazingly and still fits pretty well even though I’ve gotten larger. It was a $400-$500 jacket and I got it in a spring clearance for $200-$250. 👌🏼 A New York company called Schott also makes killer jackets AND amazing peacoats.

I haven’t bought a leather jacket since I was a teen. Now I decided to buy one (all saints) and the issue is I tried on the same jacket at a store but ordered it at a discount (Bloombingdales $180 off). Nobody has touched it but I can barely zip it up (note: same jacket, same size). Is this normal until it break in? We are about the same build so I bought a medium. Confused lol

Schott (Original company that started the leather jacket) one star leather jacket is the best, and will always be the best.
There's a lot of european brands from the 70s/80s who destroys Schott's. Schotts are boring.

Here in Mexico you can find jackets of a similar quality to JL Rocha and Varvatos at around 100 US dollars or even less, i got a sheepskin ultrasoft kinda cafe racer in a "honey" color which costed me around 80 bucks and it is AMAZING. A french coat in cow or calf would be on around the same price and suede a little more expensive, around 150-200 dollars. Leather is pretty highly priced in the US and it is way cheaper here down south ;)

Out of all the leather jackets you tried on, I think the denim-inspired suede jacket from 7 for All Mankind looked the best; it was something different than your usual top grain leather biker/bomber/racer, and the suede material gave it an extra edge. Camel and grey suede also looked good, but it's a bit too common as well
If your buying a leather jacket, never pick synthetic. Real leather feels right, looks tight, and really, your buying a good leather coat, paying top price. If you pay for it, earn it.
My favorite leather store is DEFINITELY......WILSONS LEATHER!

@@tidechamp15 a lot of their stuff is less quality materials and made overseas. That's why its inexpensive compared to Schott for example. They use premium full grain leather processed by experienced tanneries with quality control standards. They stand by their products for life. Wilson's is ok for seasonal stuff.

And those names they have at Wilson's WITHOUT selling your car or house to buy from them .....(sarcasm added)
@@tidechamp15 I bought stuff there and was satisfied. I think most mall stores sell ok but low-quality leather goods and their uses staff don't know leather. It depends what quality you're looking for. Now I buy directly from the manufacturer and pay more but get much higher quality and warranty.
How would you define the term “price point?” For example the JL Rocha Icon jacket is listed at $1,125. Right now it’s marked down to $569. If I use the RMRS code it bumps it down to $340. So is it an $1,100 jacket for a steal or is it a $300 that would never sells full price.

The problem with All Saints is that the zipper is on the wrong side though. It gets irritating. I've noticed that some countries have different conventions for the zipper side. Most of us are right handed so the zipper should be on the right hand side.

Just FYI, there’s a brand called Goosecraft that makes real leather jackets very similar to AllSaints at about half the price. I love AllSaints but couldn’t find anything cheaper that was well made and properly styled until I found them. Goosecraft & Superdry, best leather jackets sub $300.
These shops are pretty much just fast fashion brands that have pretty abysmal value for your money. A real leather jacket lover would have chosen Aero, Schott, Lost World, or any leather jacket maker with actual history.

Well, if I'd only know, I wouldn't have bought any of the low/midpriced jackets I spent money on and instead put that towards the custom Aero Cafe Racer I have now. Sure, it cost over $1000 and I had to wait several months for it to be made, but you're never going to find an off-the-rack jacket that holds a candle to the Aero. The arm and body length were custom cut to fit me. I got to pick the type of leather, the color, the hardware, the color of the sewing thread, the collar snap, number of pockets inside and out, the type of arm gussets, even the pattern of the hand-woven Lochcarron wool tartan liner. It's a one-of-kind lifetime jacket, made to my specifications. Take two or three of these inexpensive fashion jackets, resist buying them, then go get an Aero. You will thank yourself for it as that Aero ages wonderfully over time and becomes part of your story.
I always wonder why people would buy designer leather jackets when Schott, vanson and Langlitz are available brand new and on eBay. But like most things I simply don't understand.

Don't waste your money on a toy leather jacket.
If you only want a FASHION jacket, you can have them semi-custom made from umpteen overseas makers, for around $200-300....
If you want a REAL leather jacket that'll help protect you in case you fall off of your motorcycle, then spend the $500-$1500 on an actual motorcycle jacket, say one from Schott, Brooks, Langlitz, etc... It's money well spent and you'll not be paying for a trendy, ill-fitting "fluff" piece that's going to be out of fashion in God knows how long.

You don't even describe or care to find out what type of leathers these jackets are. Just "soft". Ok, cowhide, horsehide, goat, lamb? The type of leather matters. Schott, Bill Kelso, Wested Leather, Cockpit USA, US Wings, Top Gun (in the past) are all brands I would buy over anything you tried on here.
