Arlene a real G for letting them play inside her grocery store
Julian spent all his energy for the next 22 years on this one performance lol
😂 awww mi Bebe.
Julián está infravalorado, para mí es el mejor vocalista de todos los tiempos
@@Anonimoxda Fue decayendo con los años.
So real
@@maxpower4918 alguien no ha escuchado The new abnormal
I'm glad they caught this on CCTV
lol
This is a part of the web is so deep but is only for true fans of The Strokes
Jonnathan Duque this is RUclips....😂
@@Regularguy924 lol

Thats why im here ...
True😂
Weird to see Julian have so much energy! He’s dancing around like a maniac
Pills baby
They wanted to impress the record stores. It's on Meet me on the bathroom, I think.
😂
Is this it hadn’t even come out yet! This was the stroke glory days lol, I’m sur the small venues and limited media exposure made them fell way more comfortable preforming
I'm pretty sure that's the last time they ever had to introduce themselves
omg
and the rest is history
you're right Mia Khalifa
Literally
@@davegsux that's not funny at all.
Goddamn Julian used to TURN UP lmao
+Grim Reaper So did Nick LOL his drunk ass fell over during NYC Cops
***** 😂
Yooo Danielle
Yooooo
Danielle Trachtenberg comment on one of my videos
Julian is dancing and moving crazy hyper. Nick is jumping up and down like he is having convulsions but in a cool rock star way. Albert and Fab are there, but like shadow ghosts and Nikolai is Nikolai.
So true ! Lol
I love this energy
CHECK OUT HOW HIGH NICK HAS HIS GUITAR!!!
THE STROKES YESTERDAY
THE STROKES TODAY
THE STROKES TOMORROW
THE STROKES 4EVA
THE STROKES SOMEDAY
Nikolai never changes, he's our rock.
It's weirdly comforting that one thing that never changed with Jules is his hate for mic stands.
lmaooo
@@lnsordo91q significa lmao ?
If you listen really closely at 20:00 you can hear one of the guys (maybe Albert?) ask "Are you ready?" and Julian replies "YASSSS"
Sophie P im dying
+Sophie P LOL this was 2000 tho wut
LMFAOOOOIOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fucking trend setter Jules
I think it was Fab.
HAHAHAH MY FCKING FAVOURITE SHOW EVER. i love when Albert falls in 17:40 and Jules picks him up
back when nick had his strap as high as albert
i don't think he was using a strap lol
Thank god he switched, it did not look right for him at all haha
@@fIiperama he’s definitely using one, do u know how hard it is to carry a guitar and play all of those riffs
@@hurtmywrist i was joking.
@@hurtmywrist actually on this show his guitar kept falling of the strap so he was carrying it most of the time
This video comment section feels like a small fan club, feels good to be around
They need to re-master In Her Prime. That song is too good to let go of.
I don't really think it would have been a fit stylistically on First Impressions but maybe as a B-side or a bonus track at the ITI/RoF era would have been perfect imo.
Listen to Meet Me In The Bathroom bruh
IKR?!? A lost banger?!?
Is that played at 12:45?
Sagganuts is so good, I think sagganuts is better. Of course In Her Prime is also awesome
the stumbling around, unreleased songs, their pre is this it inexperience... possibly one of the greatest performances ever
Holy shit! they sound this great, even in 144p.
AdolfO MelgaR their album sounds like it’s in 240p so it kinda works
@@sush1iii it does change lol
This version of NYCC is probably the best thing I've ever viewed on this website
I've never heard Julian so clearly and so upfront in the early years. Makes the songs all sound totally unique imo. Not to mention the bizarre accent he's using a lot in this one. I still fucking love it though!
gives me jim morrison vibes
Why I thought I'd never see the day...... Nikolai rocking out...
which pixel is Julian
Pedro Miguel dead
the one with de mic
the drunk pixel
Haha I was 400 like,
truth
this is the most energetic performance I've seen from them.
This is the probably the best thing on RUclips
Albert and Nick still using that same guitars until this day, more than 20 years. Great.
2021 anyone? I love the strokes, and I love to see how they’ve grown and evolved through years... they have changed so much since this, I mean nick had his guitar really high, Julian’s voice is so different and they were all jumping around. And I’m not saying that was bad or that the way they are now is better but it’s really cool to see how they have changed.
That's why they deserved the grammys
@@ppril94 I know right?!?! I’m so happy for them, totally deserved
Started from the bottom now they’re here
@@mariajesuslealaffeld2115 Definitely
2022 hi
Haha they used to play everything so damn fast. I think it was in part because of nerves. I get the sense that they aren't exactly comfortable on stage yet in this video.
+TheAucoin i agree. I remember watching In transit( i think????) or it was in an interview, but nikolai talked about how in the beginning, they all played so fast at every show because they thought that was the way to do it. But they started to burn themselves out
When you start a band, you get a lotta punks going to your earlier shows, and they expect higher speeds. More fun to listen to crap bands when they go fast too
I'd pay so much just to see this live man :/
they had so much energy! even nikolai was dancing and moving around! i really want to see them like this one day.
Jules twerking LOL
Julian sounds like Jim Morrison
Listen to the early demo for modern age man
julians dancing is freaking hilarious lmao haha jeez... 8:34 nick falls over and keeps rocking on afterwards.. dedication man
It is truly sickening that I wasn’t there for this
How could you
They're so drunk and still so swag. How can they do that?
This kind of makes me sad in a way. I mean, Julian got really really cynical, increasingly, as the albums went by, so it's weird seeing him in like a rawer form.
He was always cynical, but that’s not why his style of performance changed. His way of performing turned into more honest and subtle gestures. Jumping and dancing around didn’t really fit the casual tension of their music.
@@thedeans6247 I consider it also has much to do with the age.
This is the raw form of the strokes that set the world on fire!
It's true if you are a true Strokes fan you will watch this all the way through. When I first became infatuated with them back in 07' this was something I came across and I was hooked. To this day I still come to hear "In her Prime" So much love for The Strokes. They did it!
Julian's inability to dance is beautiful :P
i guess this is the future, the 0th of april 2029
I guess you've never seen date formats outside of NA? 😕
U made me laugh hard
dumbass
Dont know why i laughed at this the way i did... then the angry response got me even more
I didn't believe that was Nick for the longest time! The way he was moving is somewhat similar, but the way he's holding his guitar yo. I don't think Iv ever seen him carry it that high before lol
This is SO GOOOOOOOOOD wow holy shit
+SoaringMuse Honestly I disagree, Jules especially has gotten like a thousand times better.
Thomas Reynolds And? that doesnt mean this one is not good
Marxer the songs feel unfinished. I'm pretty sure he forgets lyrics. his rhythm hasn't settled down yet. I'm telling you, this isn't even his final form.
Thomas Reynolds i know this isnt their best performance but its still good
Wish I could’ve been there 20 plus years ago. I just didnt know. It’s so rare that a band stays together, all original members, no great tragedies, still making amazing music for the people who love them!
Here’s to another 20 years, I know I ‘ll be there.
I wish jules still went this hard
You know that they were in love whit the'r music when you can see that even Nikolai was dancing at it
i would do anything for a studio version of saggonuts... classic catchy strokes.
I think the years of touring and playing really brought their passion down. I wish they had this energy now. They will always be amazing though!
you mean just julian being drunk? lol
i just saw them in march in NY and trust me, they still got it :)
The stage energy didn't come down over the years, someone told those bros to bring it down at the beginning. watch "modern age" performed a year later live on conan. Unfortunately, the years of playing and touring together have brought down the passion they feel for each other.
That isn't it at all.
they look so punk and fast in this video xD Jules' voice sounds like crap here because he was dancing and jumping around, but it looks like he's having a real good time... they all already were killing it, so original and raw! rock and roll!
Julian doing his best mick jagger impression is everything i needed lol
Hahaha so much so, he almost falls off.
So funny so good never see Julian move like that thanks for this video great guys !!!!
dance Julian, dance!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nick totally eats it at 8:33 LMAO!!!
looks like he lost his pick too
The recovery tho
He looks drunk af
I know it has already been said like a million times but thanks for putting this up, Pre ITI Strokes make me happy and sad at the same time, they have so much energy and excitement to them, it's just a shame I missed out on it. Waiting patiently for the fourth album. =]
what were your thoughts on the past three albums if you are still active?
Jajaja... Impresionante.. saber que ya estamos en el 2023..
Y estamos esperando algo pronto después de The new abnormal!!
(:.
no mms cuanta energía, se nota que eran unos chavales, siguen siendo geniales pero aquí se ven más llenos de vida !
17:45 this is the first time i see nikolai moving like that in a performance
julian is moving and i'm scared.
Probably before that concert he was in the bathroom, you know why rigth?
The essence of rocknroll in this performance so raw them falling down is fucking sick man dig all there moves never seen Julian with so much energy
The combination between Julian's headbanging, bunnyhop, and the funky chicken (4:10-4:20) is some seriously precious star quality performance!!
the funky chicken 😭
i wish to see this in hd....
Tom3K GrabarzzZ close your eyes and see the sounds maann
the fact this venue is still around is a miracle honestly
Loving Julian's Jim Morrison/early Nick Cave-style vocals
Watching this in 2022 as a 34yo who has loved The Strokes since I was 13 and I cannot help but feel like a proud mom even though Julian is 10 years older than me 🥺
Crazy cuz I’m watching in 2022, I’m 33 and I’ve loved them since I was 12 😂
I love the beginning of in her prime sooooo much
LOLOLOLOL!! Look at Julian going TOTAL NUTS on Alone, Together's solo!! 😂😂
I read that Julian was so nervous before all their early shows he would throw up
THIS IS HILARIOUS AND AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL ALL AT ONCE I AM IN AWE
julian's voice sometimes remember me to The lizard king
“I try to stay away from the things I’m naturally bad at.” -Julian Casablancas on his dancing... Now I know what you meant, Jules 🤣
Well put Lady! 😂
Something beyond *saudade*
The state this video puts me in hot damn.
This is breathtaking!!
It's so wild, and so appreciating seeing them as a still up and coming great band, before all elements collide and commence to bring them into their later, supposedly furthering realm of stardom.. A great band's a great band. And it's so beautiful to see a segment of them at this time. thank you o.p.
It's neat to see them this early on in their career, they just seem so excited and happy to be playing.
Julian has been picking up drinks from stage while they perform forever…and that’s so freaking awesome! 🤘🏽
Julian sounds so good in this
This is probably the best I've ever seen on RUclips 🔥
21 and a half years later..... Gonna see them twice in the next week... wish I could time travel back to this gig so long ago
Fabs drum patterns were so much more full back then, so many fills I love it
OH MY GOD!!!! This is the best video I've EVER SEEN!! I love these guys! They are jumping around like kids at a playground! And JULES! Who would have ever thought he could move like this!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO...I gotta watch it again!
Been feeling nostalgic about the Strokes and wow what a treat this is! Very pixelated but better than nothing lol
In many ways, they'll miss the good old days
Someday
Someday
When we was young, oh man, did we have fun
Always
Always
I've never been so smitten with them as I am right now!! I'm SOOOO glad I found THIS! I'm laughing at how (during the 3rd song I think) the stagehand is trying to fix the pedal and stop all that distortion... So young, raw, inexperienced--and it's absolutely perfect...✨ TY for sharing this gem with us! ☮️
3:41 Trying Your Luck, this song hits the feels since 2003, ......... “and I hope you never change”......
I NEED TO SEE THEM LIVE!!🙌🏿
amazing early recording. i love it.
I'd really wish to listen these songs in another album. It's so perfect
if I ever needed a reminder of how much I love The Strokes than this video would be it :)
Wow, how have I never seen this before? This is so good.
What an energy! True rock'n roll for sure.
they was so young and drunk... I love Sagganuts...
julian`s voice is awesome!
every time i watch this video i get so sad i wasn’t born 10 years earlier to have been able to experience this strokes era in real time. gen z glamorizing tumblr 2014 days - THIS is the time I just know was as cool to be a part of as it looks
We the indie kids of 2010s' used to glamorize this exact time back in the day 😂
So grateful for some real videos of the strokes
So many good songs lefts behind, I love sagganuts.
i'm still so shocked at how lively they are on stage...crazy bc theyre so chill and laidback now esp. julian
they were amazing 10 years ago, they are amazing now and they will still be amazing in 10 years!
You were precisely correct (The New Abnormal and Grammy!!)
And they will be amazing 10 years later.
10 años y siguen haciendo muy bien los amo 🇲🇽
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahhhh! this is so freakin good! They had so much energy, and i really like how julian sounds here.
this is art
Julian’s dedication to mastery was evident even in the early days
Thanks so much for posting this!! This is awesome, seeing them so young and not famous yet!!
Thank you for share. 🙂
