japan are sexist after all ...they have so much standard set for women so you cant expect much...japan make their women smile all the time and force them into liking pinky cute stuff and wearing dress ...and japanese think women cant be a sushi chef ...crazy right ? When women are bit fat they will get heavily bully in japan ... If the japanese women are not pretend to be nice and cute for a sec or get angry and out of the japan women normal standard they will not be likeable ... But in this case i think people are just racist toward her ... If she is a white japanese girl with that "normal cute" looks then maybe those so call pride norm japanese boy will not be so harsh on her ....people are just racist sexist and stupid

Kai is a longtime sufferer of depression himself, and if you watched the show, you’d realize this. Unfortunately, I think this contributed to a lot of the backlash - Kai had been in a dark place, self-isolating and even in tears on occasion, and this incident seemed like it was way over the top and people feared that *Kai* might end up harming himself. Of course he should have checked the washer, but I’ll forgive a depressed person for forgetting to do that. Hana had every right to be upset, but she should also have taken responsibility for her own things and not left it in the washer.
The fact is, neither Hana nor Kai deserved the situation they were put it. The only people to blame are the producers and the creeps who bullied her.

So, this guy ruined her expensive custom-made outfit and she's reasonably pissed from it and gets backlash because she doesn't kawaii like she should? This is probably why Miyazaki mentioned that Anime; people's main impression of Japan and kawaii culture is a danger to women there because those standards restrict women from being actual people with emotions other than "cute".
I don't even watch female japanese wrestling and i think the backlash to her being pissed off from her custom-made outfit being ruined to be pretty messed up. Like, there's no extra. Its an original outfit ruined; like a custom gucci or something ruined. Maybe its because i'm an artist and know the value of making your own art; or receiving someone's custom art. Its a one of a kind.

Miyazaki is so right and I trust him with all my heart, he made anime a beautiful wholesome thing for many people. To be honest I’ve hated on the majority of the anime out there due to this. Those irritatingly boring stereotypes of yandere/tsundere etc etc are just cringe and repeated over and over again ad nauseum and the people who watch them thinking they’re so cool/cultured are basic simple minded morons. I had a boyfriend for a very short time who I broke up with because he told me he wanted a small Asian girl (so he could pretend it was his fave anime waifu I guess) and this just made me understand even more how damaging these false ideals of women are
Sad that Hana had to be a victim of this. I know she just wanted to be accepted and playing the heel must have been hard for her but she did it so she could comply with the shows requirements. I always thought she was sweet and generally a good person when watching the show, despite her having to pretend otherwise

    • @aho9071
      @aho9071 3 года назад +125

Or maybe the dude was following the stereotype that woman is supposed to like cute/kawaii type things. I wouldn’t say anime is mostly the reason, but people do need to pull their head out their asses and realize that anime is just fiction and for entertainment. Not a how to guide for real life. It’s so stupid that people are still living in la la land and believing that everything is like the movies/shows.

Totally unethical. People will say that cast members "chose this" or they "signed up for this" but how could these people ever predict what it was going to be like. They are KIDS basically, they have no experience in this industry, the producers paint it as an exciting experience... not to mention, being on a reality show is not a common experience, how would anyone know what it's like. It's basically a huge social experiment which affects their whole life. If you sign up for a psychological experiment ethics boards ensure that you ALWAYS have the opportunity to leave at any moment with full or partial compensation. It's completely unethical to expect kids to participate in a life-changing experiment with little opportunity to get out.

Do i think that Kai was clumsy and made a big mistake that affects Hanas wrestling job? yes. Do i think Hana might have overreacted? yes. Do i think that Hana deserved the cyberbullying online? NO. The problem lies with the production of Terrace house for not protecting these Kids. It makes me even more mad that the "scene" wasn't even Hanas genuine emotion, and that she was asked to be this angry for shock value. Even when she was taking heat for what those devil producers told her to do, no one from the production protected her. I stand with the mother, they sabotaged Hana along with many other members of terrrace house, and make them take the heat while they make profit of their mental anguish. This is a level above unethical, its borderline inhumane. I khow that they tried to do the same with Emika, and push the villian edit on her and Haruka. We even sae Emika cry at the person the producers were making her seem to be when she watched her self on tv.

Choosing between paying a large fine and ending up in debt, or destroying your image by doing what they tell you in front of millions of international viewer's. I also find it creeepy that they had cameras in the bathroom. Aint that illegal, the time ryo said that the bathroom was dirty they had the footage ready to show. I feel like there is a lot of dark stuff that happend behind the scenes. Imagine the footage they dont show? Im sure those cameras are on 24/7. There was a girl who left before the Kai incident. I think her name was Emika. She also made a statement after Hana passed saying that the show put the cast members in harm's way. I feel like Emika's misery was palpable onscreen. They even filmed scenes of her crying and calling friends, telling them that she didn't want to be on the show anymore. She also said on camera that she was getting online hate. I think they also tried to push a villain narrative on her but she was able to get out somehow. Hana, sadly, wasn't as lucky. I honestly didn't know about what the production staff was doing. I thought Hana had suffered only due to the backlash but this makes a lot more sense. That gear was very special and important to her, it was the gear she wore in a big show in the Tokyo Dome, a crucial match for her carreer.
This important piece of memorabilia from one of the most important nights of her life as a Joshi Wrestler, was just gone, that's why she fought over it and got so upset.
No matter how much you dislike a person in a show, or in life, you should never treat her the way people treated Hana.
She didin't deserve any of what happened to her.

I remember furiously defending Hana when this happened. The misogyny that jumped out of everyone was sooo palpable after that episode. Why are women expected to be perfect while men can express their emotions in any destructive way they please without judgement? There was no right side, but what Hana said at that moment was very true (harsh, but still true). Kai never came out to defend Hana after that episode aired even though he KNEW he was partly to blame for that situation. He (and other housemates) literally left her at the hands of vicious cyber bullies. Meanwhile Kai reveled in all the supportive messages he got on Instagram. I don't know if staff told him he couldn't publicly support her, but I still feel something could have been said, even just a sentence. She perished simply because she lost control of her emotions on camera... after being provoked on top of that! I cried after hearing the news. I will never forgive her bullies and Fuji TV for this mess. RIP beautiful Hana, this world was too cruel for you 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌼

She didn't have a choice in the end when it came to what went on in that episode. The backlash she got for smacking a hat off of his head could've been even WORSE if she had slapped him like the crew wanted her to originally.
Misogyny isn't just "hating women" and not everyone can be aware that they're participating or contributing to it. It's the idea that women in general should live up to certain expectations that take control of aspects of their personality or bodily autonomy.
Whether it is intentional or not, anyone, even women, can participate in misogyny.
Hana got comments from Japanese fans of the show that were SUPER racist because not only was she harassed for being half Japanese, but also she didn't fit the typical standards for a cute, obedient Japanese girl. She was rightfully upset... At the end of the day, Hana wasn't some character or villain in the show, she was a person who had no say whatsoever in the scene that would result in her downfall.

Hot take here: Terrace isn’t any more or less predatory than any reality show, well maybe only a bit more since they claim there’s no script. We all know reality tv is heavily produced and edited. Cast members are essentially making a deal with the devil for money and fame, I like to assume they’re aware of that.
The bigger issue in this specific instance is Japanese shame culture, racism, and misogyny. Those 3 things created and perpetuated a perfect storm of abuse that led Hana to take action. Men painted as villains don’t get savagely picked apart the same way, ESPECIALLY not in Japan.
It’s the antiquated views of producers, stuff like asking minorities to be villains without protecting them, encouraging non-consensual advances, etc. THAT’s the truly grimy stuff.

I think it would have been interesting even without these staged events, as I never was one to like hating on the cast, and having lived with roommates myself, know there is always some Level of drama naturally. Maybe it would be more natural for them to be together in a way that wasn't monogamous, or a friendship with benefits, I don't know... but because they met in a reality show, and the japanese culture is conservative, there was an expectation that they should start a commited, normative relationship. And they played along. They actually dated, but In my opinion, some aspects of their relationship were performative. Tsubasa seemed a bit unconfortable in the show, and after leaving Terrace House, she said that she felt like she was expected to dress more feminine because she was dating Shion. He, on the other hand, said in interviews that she would go to Tokyo to visit her male friends (many of her friendships are men), and would also use the opportunity to spend time with him... it sounded like he was a bit insecure about his station in her life. I guess that when relationships are built on external expectations, both parties end up feeling insecure and unfulfilled.

If they had let her just leave she would still be here I believe. The reason why that outfit was so special was because Stardom wrestlers for the first time got to perform in the Tokyo Dome ahead of Wrestle Kingdom which is like the Super Bowl of wrestling shows. Women's wrestling had not been in the Tokyo Dome for years so it was such a milestone for all the ladies involved. Then for someone to be so careless about someone else's things is ridiculous.
