The breadth of what can be drawn into thought at CIIS, and the freedom philosophy students are given in dissertations, make it the most important philosophy department, in my view. If creative free inquiry, going wherever the questions take a thinker, isn't the soul of philosophy, I don't know what is. Great interview.

Brilliant, totally agree. CIIS is doing fantastic work and they as well as the students are lucky to have Dr. Segal as a great example of what is possible when you dedicate your life to philosophy.

Thank you for the very comprehensible outline of the classical philosophical viewpoints and some perspectives.

Re Evan Thompson - I read Waking Dreaming Being per Matt at an adult seminar. At the time I was trying melatonin, which has temporary dream enhancement effects. It was interesting.
I’ll check out Mind in Life.

    May I recommend Bulgakov's
TRAGEDY OF PHILOSOPHY, where he takes to task German
Idealism for a trinitarian orientation for reality. Anyone interested in this video, would find Tragedy of Philosophy quite provocative, indeed.
