Duane is not a psychoanalyst, he is a psychoanalysis!

Awesome, can’t wait. A conversation between Julie Reshe and Duane/Mark would be incredible, as they have both released their versions of negative psych books recently.
I spoke briefly with Duane and he had a critique of Julie’s perspective, saying that she still thinks death will save us. A discussion between them all, mediated by you, would be massive I think.. appreciating these hits my friend 🙏

Is there anywhere I can find his critique? I’ve been obsessed with Reshe since her book dropped.

This discussion was fire. I nearly yelped with glee when Duane referred to Lacan as a sociologist, and I really appreciate Murphy’s elaboration on “the repetition” as the opposite of “the dialectic,” as well as his connections of the dialectic with Metamodernism (of the Dember sensibility especially). I was very happy to hear the conversation turn in the direction of discussing Dugin, because I do believe that might be one of the most critical discussions of our time. I think considering Sloterdijk is also important here, and I like the idea that every nation entails a stubborn refusal to give something up. “Do we really need one another?” is also a great question to frame the problem, and if the answer is “no,” why should anybody bother struggling through the negativity necessitated by relationships? Seems irrational….I was also really taken by the discussion on the relation of dreaming to the symptom, and where the loss of the ability to dream means pathology dominates. To regain dreaming, we must regain the capacity to suffer trauma, and if we cannot, paradoxically, we might suffer an even greater negativity. The stakes are high and real.

Hello Daniel, you are right, I agree this discussion was awesome!
I think this also highly relates to the question of the Zero, the One and the Two we only slightly discussed in the course with Dr. Brenner at Theory Underground!
I do not think that "There is something of One" is the same as the platonic One! With "something of One" I start to associate more a bone of jouissance, something that sticks out, phallic yet ever-shifting. At the end of the day there is something here, within and outside of me.
In some sense, after listening and reading your comment, I started to think about the moment a family can not continue operating, the line of ancestors suddenly leading to a rupture and the amount of libidinal energy getting flooded onto the members of the family. Might this be one aspect of what humans have to realize? We never were a tribe, we just dreamed it? What would be the dream after the dream of the family?
Maybe you and Michelle go into this in your book on belonging, forgive me, I did not yet have time to read it, I have to prioritize unfortunately.

@@notfoundunrepresentable. Hello my friend, and that is a wonderful comment: I agree with you! I think your point on 'the tribe' being a dream is well put: when we become 'tribal,' we are actually fleeing from difference, which suggests the 'tribe' is more Imagined than Real. And this absolutely comes up in Belonging Again, though more so Part 2 vs Part 1 (which might kill me in my efforts to edit it, but time will tell). No pressure at all to read, my friend, though we appreciate your interest. Hope you are well!

"Everyone talks about how they're traumatized today. I happen to think that in some sense, socially, we haven't been traumatized yet." - Douane Rousell 1:50:00

1:22:00 this is why the 40/60 rule is a rough guide for gauging the effects of positivity, but also pushing back at negativity. Maybe eventually we will become capable of living with more positivity but currently pushing too fast and exceeding beyond 48-50 too early would be like 🤔?... that one day you took too much speed with your mates. Then sadly you alone will probably spend the next 3 weeks correcting your hangover with more uppers or downers 🤦🏾‍♀️. The truth is the easiest thing to swallow. Interesting conversation guys. Really admire the way each of you are tackling with the modern conceptions of mortality.
1:45:50 "dreams are still there" that sounds absurd. Can't imagine not dreaming. 1:49:56 "facing the nightmare" is power over your own mind? 1:50:45 "trauma disguising itself as trauma" is that like a therapist telling you who you are within the first 30 minutes of consultation and you seeing what kind of therapist they are within that sobering minute of listening to their narcissistic arrogant approach of conflating their status over the patients method for resolving old trauma?
1:54:46 that's because they are born into the symptom of Muhammad. They are not seperate from it. Whereas the Christian version have to arrive or come to meet Him. It is a choice in the discovery of who someone is in all of that which is created. 2:00:31 what is "unconscious" other than the artificial anesthesia for surgery.
2:02:25 I would argue that it is no one else's business about what is shared between God or Christ and the person. If all is received well to improve self, health and relationships with family and friends...then whose business is it to interject how symptoms is transmitted and made into compatible learning approaches. The heavies in the sky are not the same thing 📳📡🛰️. Although I am sure these are confused for the same kind of symptom all the time. This cannot be a coincidence, it is instead the reality for refreshing and updating logic. Good luck 🤭. Thanks again guys.
