    Well read and said!
I am not acquainted with Schelling; however, as you said his evil differs from St Augustine’s privation of the good…kind of like a tooth captivity of once where there was a good (piece of tooth) now a lack (Barron). Evil as designed or willed justified or a rational evil…I see the necessary connection with good in order for it shine, evil must be a possibility. As principles they both are in oppositional conversation, an example I thought of was revenge. When a man sees the murder of his friend, the man ponders revenge. This consideration reveals what Schelling says about the diabolical and mirroring, especially as one plots revenges, justifies it, and the classic foretelling your hapless victim why you are going to kill him…to right a wrong with an evil. Much to consider.

If I am reading him correctly I believe what Schelling is referring to in the possibility of evil is where the selfhood moves from a bases or instrument to a means- here the bonding principle of eternal love breaks, the two principles light and dark become discordant and another spirit upsurps where God should be. lacking understanding the false imagination borrows from reason (which has no being) the appearance of being due to false pleasure ( lust) . Man who can't behold the luster of the divine and truth looks away to what has nonbeing. So this reversed God Evil has existence it does not have being. Th entities it produces do not have being , but exist. Evil is non-being and death. Overcoming this fear of life (as opposed to a fear of death) would become the central point of Kirkegaard leap of faith.

Sounds similar to Freuds ego and the id. Merton’s true self and false self. The Greek, Sarks-Soma.
In all these efforts to describe the Human Condition Schelling seems to be a common thread through them all, or maybe St. Paul in Romans even tries to describe the tug of war between good and evil….
The… selfish self-centeredness, so to speak, (is) the evil in our lives.

How would Schellings Pantheism be the only reason for human freedom?

Not really getting the talk here, not sure it's in my line of thinking. But I'm usually on board with German Idealism.
