I was surfing the web to get some idea of how common this problem is and ran into your post. Hats off to you guys. Such a simple solution to what was a very complex repair. We'll be contacting you this morning. Our local dealer just quoted us $8700. We owe you many thanks.
I ordered this kit a few months ago our shop is in massachusetts the shipping was very quick and this saved us so much time the car no longer over heats and its been about 5 months now with no problems at all I recommened this to anyone with e65/66 coolant weep hole problems thanks guys high quality and a quick reliable fix
My uncle Alex recently ordered this part and had it shipped up here to Vancouver, Canada. As far as I know. All German Auto is the only company in the world to manufacture such a pipe. We had it installed as per the video's instructions and the car is running perfectly. No leaks, nothing. This is a HUGE cost advantage. The service and rapid shipment from AGA was nothing short of exceptional!
Steve, the reason for the video being blurred towards the end is because it had our old contact information and old website. We have a different email, phone # and address.
So if left unattended can the coolant leak into the engine oil? Or does it simply leak out of the engine block? I love how BMW call out such high numbers like it's absolutely nothing. Guess that comes with the territory of owning a premium car like such.
firstly really great solution but, its in an area thats under constant vibration would the threads not loosen over time if they are not locked in some way , i work in maintenancein a pharmaceutical plant and we couldnt used something like that because in an area under vibration the threads would work loose over time and leak ??????
My 745i have got that coolant pipe problem so i will have to order the kit now and hopefully i will not need to top up new coolant every 3 days as i normally do :D
BMW650I 2007, the coolant leakage been for months, All hoses, reservoir were replaced. Still small leakage still dripping. Recently I had the coolant checked. Thermostat, water pump and plastic tensor were replaced after modifications to the under take. The mechanic had pipe slightly smaller than the under take as cost would have been much higher. So the mechanic inserted the slightly smaller into existing Allamium under take with permanent glue. SO far the coolant leakage has stopped. He told me to use the car for 2 weeks in order to make sure no leakage before changing the coolant. The garage added more water temporarily in order for the car to be drive. IF the modification doesn’t work? Then he will need to replace the under take which will cost much more. SO far the cost for the parts and workmanship $300. The leakage seems to stop since 3 days ago. Based on the car value! It’s not worth spending large amount when the value is very low. SO far so good. SO my advise to owners of old BMW not to spend large amounts when you can spend much less. BMW650I are such a wonderful cars on the road BUT it’s costly to maintain. Eventually I will need to replace the whole engine with used one at a cost of $1200 available in the market same goes for the transmission. Hope my experience would help others. Thank you for excellent video footage.
The o-ring in the back of the engine needs to be replaced with a BMW OEM o-ring. The skinny o-ring on the back of the coolant pipe is to seal the coolant pipe.
Great innovation! Porsche and BMW basically design great mechanical engines. As great as they are as you can see they do have design flaws which cost us a great deal of time, money and aggravation.Nice to see some great mechanics who are committed to finding solutions to these issues. Our car guy..Jay Leno really gives this very high praise!
+All German Auto How much is the pipe and will i be leak free for at least another 100,000 miles???? Also are there particular models and years this leak happens a lot????

As long as you keep up with maintenance, the seal should last 100,000 miles. This problem is a common problem for the N62 and N73 engines. If you have any further questions you may call our tools and products department
Now that you have increase the pressure tollerance of the center pipe, be ready for the rear bell housing coolant pan to blow. To prevent all these problems including the center pipe 1) change your coolant with Pentosin NF or Motul Inugel Expert Ultra every 2 years,do not use US branded BMW Coolant 2) throw the 2 bar(29 psi) coolant cap in the trash and replace it with a 1.4 bar(20 psi) coolant cap from a 1 or 3 series BMW.
yes. Change coolant every 2 years because galvanic corrosion will set in. Many dissimilar metals in an N62 motor. US BMW coolant contains 8 percent sodium hydroxide which will destroy rubber and plastic components in very short time. The usual first sign of failure is a ruptured coolant tank. Sodium hydroxide is used at the track where ethylene glycol is forbidden due to traction issues. Do not use metal impeller water pumps in this motor not even brass, the bearings will not last(pumps operate at high RPM). Use only OEM. Pseudo skeptic engineering and chinese aftermarket parts only add to the problems this motor already has. The original 10 year old water pump, thermostat, valley pan, and center pipe on my N62 now has 120000 miles with no signs of failure. I'll post an update when and if it fails.
Hi Eric, You do not have to technically, but we recommend it. The reason is because when you expand the coolant pipe, you want to make sure it expands past the seal, not pinching it. And the only way to do that is to check through the opening of the water pump.
+All German Auto Is there anyway to prevent this leak from happening, better coolant, better thermostat, etc????? At what mileage does this leak usually happen???
There is no way to prevent this from happening besides coolant flushes every year and keeping the vehicle from sitting too long. If you have any further questions please contact our tools and products department at 760-738-4084 or email us at rich@agatools.com
Alex, this repair should last a very long time when installed correctly. The aluminum pipe is made of 6061 billet aluminum and the seal is made of viton. We have installed this kit in cars dating back to 2006 and still no issues.
@AllGermanAuto hi there you guys seem very good at what you do! iv got a 1994 e34 m5 3.8 and i need to change my antifreeze/coolant i sure these systems need bleeding dont they? also do you know where the bleed nipple/screw is many thanks :)

I have the same problem as i own 745 too so the only symptom is when you need to top up with coolant every 3 days and apparently my pipe has got 3 holes :D
what would cause that, im looking at a 2004 745li that overheats after 20 min of driving a shop said there were combustion gasses in the cooling system

Don’t recommend the uro pipe it’s extremely difficult to put on mine would seat the the front seal and wouldn’t expand after prying on it so hard. All in all I’m gonna try to return it and get the aga one the threaded body is a big difference in install it seems

Ive had this problem before.. yet today I was topping off coolant, the coolant stick indicator, kind of a red long stick, broke. As I tried to remove it, the stick sunk to the bottom of the expansion tank. Is this going to damage the cooling system? That's the last thing I need after just fixing a coolant leak
Why is the last portion of the video blurred out? Something confidential, need to know, requires top secret clearance, anti-virus protected? The only problem I have with this part install is the almost $700 price charged for a metal tube. I can't do that, even if I could afford it. I got no issue with any business making a profit, but this is ridiculous. And I forgot, I commented here before; my bad. Still too much though
Last portion of the video is blurred because it had our old information like company address and phone number that no longer exists. We did not want new, current and previous customers contacting us at an address and phone that is no longer valid as we have moved into a bigger facility. And the cost of the pipe is $559, however that's not why it is expensive. A lot of R&D went into development of the actual seal itself.
Hi Bruce, you do not have to but we strongly recommend it if it's your first time installing this coolant pipe. The reason being is because you want to make sure the coolant pipe expands all the way through the seal without pinching it. And the only way to see if it's getting pinched or not is to look through the water pump opening that leads to the coolant pipe. If the seal gets pinched, you'll have to go back and replace the seal again after 10k miles. Personally, I would take the time to make sure it's done properly so I don't have to go back. But if you like to live life on the edge, leave the water pump on.
Thats the bit of pipe that causes the Weeping hole isnt it? I plan on getting a 07-08 7series in a couple months... Guess I should get use to changing that pipe as often as possible so i dont get a hole in the block xP
@@AGATools Yes, so what I am saying is why not just cut the OEM pipe, take it out, replace seal, and then put back the two pieces of pipe and weld them back together again?

Oh ok. I finally read that. Great video
$1600? thats still alot if i bought that part and DIY myself it would be less
@jrice4069 Your wrong and you dont know what you are talking about. You do have to remove said parts and the dealer takes your engine out to do the repair.
