Railfan Special: Terry Kolenc's Beautiful Union Pacific Layout (and trains!)

- Back in August several members of the NMRA Division 12 group, and some others, were invited to an operating session on Terry Kolenc's Union Pacific layout. This is a gorgeous, and huge, layout depicting the Union Pacific mainly from Cheyenne to Hermosa Tunnel- or the area know as Sherman Hill. The division point of Cheyenne is modeled, and is a huge yard and engine terminal area. The passenger station (scratch-built) is also modeled.
As I was supposed to be "working", and only had my cell phone with me, this is not an actual layout tour video. I wanted to show some of the beautiful trains running- especially the passenger trains! I am hoping that someday Terry will agree to an actual layout tour video, as he is a fantastic modeler and there is much more very interesting information to be shared about his layout, motive power, and rolling stock. Let us know in the comments below if you would like to see more of Terry's layout.
You will hear some of the idle chatter between the operators- all of us were doing a bit of railfanning while we were working!

Was this área in real life so devoided of trees? I still prefer smaller layouts and more detail, in other words, Mr. Bennett your layout (in my opinión) is better in every aspect...
Fantastic Layout ! Great UP passenger consists and freight consists. Nice job on the post 1955 City of Portland with the Milwaukee road cars: looks to an accurate baggage dorm and Lake series sleeper - I have those as well. Great modeling work !

Running a railroad in that era and location means NOTHING is off the table with motive power especially with the Union Pacific!
That CGI at 6:24 looks like the sort of thing that would eventually end up in Denver during the late 60s.

I had a Sp dd35a and the big box 35b, ended up selling them but have one a and b big boxes left but they are kits and need a ton of work
