In this video, I’m going to explain to you the REAL reason that John the Baptist had to die in episode 1 of Season 4 of The Chosen . For three seasons, we’ve been building up to this moment in scripture. But here’s the thing: there’s the reason we think John was killed and then there’s the deeper story of what’s REALLY going on here.
And so, in this video, I’m going to help you to connect the show with scripture so that you can understand not only why this happened, but also why John’s death is so closely connected with Jesus’s!

John seeing lamb before his death was totally awesome. it let him know that that his labor was not in vain. I believe the Lord was giving him the confirmation he had needed. and that he had fulfilled his mission.
Yes, that was beautiful!
Moved my heart!
Just remember only what you read in the Bible is the truth, much artist liberty in the Chosen. I love the project but much is fiction.
Yep, I totally lost it with that scene! Cried like a baby! I can’t wait to meet John in Heaven! 🙏🏼✝️🕊️🐑
I LOVE THE CHOSEN BECAUSE I HAVE READ THE SCRIPTURES MANY TIMES BUT NOW I CAN VISUALIZE THE MORTALS INVOLVED. I'M MAKING A DEEPER CONNECTION WITH THE PEOPLE OF GOD AND HIS CONNECTION WITH ME
The Chosen is written with folk that are MORMON! The Church of jesus christ of latter day saints is a CULT! A NON Christian CULT! My Jesus was NEVER spirit brother of lucifer. Jesus Created Lucifer!
John's "Thank you"😊 spoke volumes!
I feel he sent that to answer the question he asked in the Bible.
@@deb9806 what was his question?
@@insightstar 2 When John the Baptist heard in prison about the things that Christ was doing, he sent some of his disciples to him. 3 “Tell us,” they asked Jesus, “are you the one John said was going to come, or should we expect someone else?”
4 Jesus answered, “Go back and tell John what you are hearing and seeing: 5 the blind can see, the lame can walk, those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases are made clean,[a] the deaf hear, the dead are brought back to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor. 6 How happy are those who have no doubts about me!”
7 While John's disciples were leaving, Jesus spoke about him to the crowds: “When you went out to John in the desert, what did you expect to see? A blade of grass bending in the wind? What did you go out to see? A man dressed up in fancy clothes? People who dress like that live in palaces! Tell me, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes indeed, but you saw much more than a prophet. For John is the one of whom the scripture says: ‘God said, I will send my messenger ahead of you to open the way for you.’ I assure you that John the Baptist is greater than anyone who has ever lived. But the one who is least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than John. From the time John preached his message until this very day the Kingdom of heaven has suffered violent attacks,[b] and violent men try to seize it. Until the time of John all the prophets and the Law of Moses spoke about the Kingdom; and if you are willing to believe their message, John is Elijah, whose coming was predicted. Listen, then, if you have ears!
Interesting that you mention the ties between John and Elijah. I was just thinking about how John’s relationship with Herod and Herodias mirrored Elijah’s relationship with Ahab and Jezebel. Both women wanted them dead.
Wow, great connection!
Good observation. What a parallel!
Great observation!
For me, the lamb was Jesus, the light is even different where John views the lamb, it was evening and night at the party for that demon Herod.
That is why he says thank you Jesus, for salvation and for peace and comfort in that unimaginable moment of suffering. Jesus is showing John the path to Paradise- where John is going.
I thought that too, about the lamb being Jesus. John had no fear about what was happening to him because he knew where he was going through Jesus. And I felt like the death of John and the birth of the baby John were miraculously intertwined.
I love how John was a weirdo to the outsiders and to his own. He was his own person doing God's will, not a religious Pharisaical one.
Praying that the art department for The Chosen . Makes a painting of when John was looking outside before he died 💕☮️🙏
Incest, betrayal, adultery, ambition, greed, and lust for power. The Herods had it all and it availed them naught. Praise be Yahweh and Yeshua forever!
I love your videos. My best friend and I watch one episode of The Chosen each week, and have a Bible study about the episodes each Wednesday. Your videos are a great help!
Wow that's awesome of you to watch one episode and then do bible study on it, great idea, and I bless you in jesus's name amen
AMAZING INFORMATION! Thank you! I have a learning disability and reading the Bible is EXTREMELY difficult to understand for me. Thank you so much! God Bless you! Amen!
I agree! Same here! The Chosen app has made me understand the Bible better! I'm addicted!!

Brandon, I appreciate your content. You stay focused on scripture and stay away from speculation and gossip which I've seen on other Chosen channels. Thank you!
I love the Chosen it gives a new perspective on the gospels, When I go into the scriptures i understand the meaning of what John did. John paved the way for Jesus "THE MESSIAH"
"John paved the way for Jesus "THE MESSIAH"" The Lamb of God, (as seen by John in the movie version).
Thank you for your clarifications and reminding us of the fulfillment of several OT scriptures. Your video was very helpful.❤
Thanks for connecting it all for me!!! Always love watching your talks!!
the simple truth - "the way is prepared..."
One word PHENOMENAL!! So thankful for each and everyone of you!!! 😊
Thank you Brandon for explaining all about the story off Jesus and John,,
All I can say is WOW! Loved it!!! I understood why John did what he was supposed to do.
Thank you Brandon for explaining this information. I have read all this and have heard sermons about John the Baptist. Seeing episode one was awesome. John seeing the lamb was awesome. It is like John knew that he did a great job. God bless you
Probably Brandon's best commentary so far.
Bless you so much, Brandon, for sharing this powerful breakdown of s scripture and history concerning John the Baptist and Herrod.
Very well spoken!
Hope to watch this again!
Great Job Brandon!! Thanks for so much insight
Love this!!! We all need reminding of the further background OT references & connections. Well done 👏 👏
I guess I gotta wait a year or so before season 4 can be seen by those who can't afford to pay out. That's usually how long it takes. I can only go by what is said online by people such as yourself, that teach about it. So, thank you for that. I LOOOOVE YESHUA MESSIACH, and can't wait to see the rest of the seasons!
Episode one of season 4 is on the Chosen app now and episode 2 will air tonight!
Thank you Brandon for sharing your thoughts 💝💞🙏
John's mission was for both the living and dead. Upon John's death, he went to the ones who died and announced that Christ had come in the flesh. And that He would soon come and visit them.
Where is this in the bible?
So helpful brother. Thank you
Thank you as always for helping me understand better,
Love your explanation of John's life.❤
I enjoy your videos. Always substantial insights without trying to be entertaining. Thank you.

I absolutely love this series No one could portray Jesus as wonderfully and with such heart and love as Jonathan Roumie and all of the disciples are gorgeous and they're so talented I love them all Jonathan is so handsome and sweet
To everyone reading this: I wish you all the best and the most happiest life full of joy and peace!
God bless
I didn’t notice John behind Jesus in the end, but I have the dvd, so I looked. And looked. SMH, didn’t happen.
Thanks again Pastor!
I believe most people missed most of the whole episode..very confusing for the new believer & or younger generation that doesnt know all of scripture
Thank you
He did in Spirit. 😇
Thank you.
Thanks!
Chuck Missler told of an interesting tradition that says that Elijah's cloak was stored in the temple after Elisha's death and that the angel who visited Zechariah told Zechariah to take up Elijah's mantle and give it to his son for his ministry, under the actual cloak of Elijah. Though this is a phenomenal theory that would explain so much, there is unfortunately little actual evidence that this tradition has any ancient roots.
A teacher who has no emotional attachment to their students needs a new career.
The Chosen is really well done but they left out the Magnificat during Mary's visit to Elizabeth. Why did they leave out words recorded in Sacred Scripture that Mary said herself to Elizabeth. I think I know the answer but will not elaborate.
I thought that was a missed opportunity & mistake, too, since it is so prominent in scripture.
Will you please elaborate for me please ? Thank you so much, have a blessed and beautiful day ❤😊❤
Because it was said already in the Christmas special.
@@19tams67 The Magnificat is Mary’s response when Elizabeth speaks in Luke 1:42+. I think Dallas missed a huge opportunity when he didn’t include it in Ep.2. It bears repeating & Mary could have mentioned a connection with Hannah from the Old Testament.
@@aszabat8226 thank you ❤️🙏
I love the chosen. When is season four coming out.
Season 4 came out on Sunday at 5
Episodes 2 is at 830 eastern time
On RUclips and Chosen app
On Thursday
Hello, thanks for the great video, though I have to comment on a little unintentional error, @ 8:12 min, it was mentioned that Herodias was Herod Antipas niece, which was wrong, matter of fact she would be his sister in law, which is a forbidden marriage in both old and new testaments, otherwise, very good job!
Herodias was both Herod Antipas' niece and his half brothers wife. It's a very complicated family tree.
Whatever happened to the other tv series The Bible back in 2013? Same thing happen to the Chosen series down the road?
Who is Abner at the end that comes to Jesus at the campfire to alert Him about John?
❤❤❤❤
John, James & Andrew were listening to John since they were teenagers 30 miles out in the desert
The Malachi passage is telling us what will happen before the Second Coming of Christ. It must be fulfilled.
PROPHET WILLIAM BRANHAM SAID, "ELIJAH COMES 5 TIMES." ELIJAH, ELISHA, JOHN THE BAPTISER, AND LAODICEA CHURCH AGE MESSENGER, AND THE ISRAEL 144,000, 12,000 FROM EACH TRIBES.
Brandon could you answer my questions on the dates Dallas put at the beginning of these episodes.? In the first one where young Mary was visiting Elizabeth the date he put was 4 BC. In the Bible, Mary and Elizabeth were pregnant together, and that date would mean Jesus wasn't to be born for 4 more years. A bit confusing. The next date where Jesus raised Lazereth, the date Dallas put was 30 AD. Why does Dallas have these wrong dates in the Chosen?
Anyone had trouble accessing English subtitles during the first episode? Anyone who was hard off hearing, had trouble following the accents, or had young kids constantly talking over the show didn't get to really immerse themselves in what was going on 😭
Brandon, QUESTION?? Who IS that behind Jesus? When Jesus saw him after tearing his sleeve, Jesus called him “ABNER”. He was also following Jesus into town when Jesus had the ashes on his forehead. WAS THAT A MINISTERING ANGEL?? Everyone MISSED it!!!
👍👍👍🙏🏻❤️✝️❤️🙏🏻
John the Baptist did not appear behind Jesus at that moment you have a picture of. Am I missing something here….rewound and watched this several times….🤔
Yeah he's the devil for that click bait lie of a thumbnail
Click bait!!!!
@@kareyannpearl260 what makes you say that (and with such fervor)?
I knew it was clickbait.
The scene is in an upcoming episode. It’s not click bait, as some are assuming.
Hmmm...I suspect that the dance was a bit more...interesting than depicted in The Chosen. One thing I noticed was that the soldiers carrying out John's execution were wearing Roman helmets. Didn't Herod have his own soldiers with their own armor?
In other productions I've seen people in Roman armor carrying out the killing of the innocents. And as horrible as the Romans were, I doubt they would have been involved in many of the petty things Herod the Great did (even Augustus mocked him in Greek, saying that it was better to be Herod's pig than his son, as Herod killed at least one of his sons).
Herod was given a small Roman contingent early on in his rule, but I don't believe it was a standing army. The slaughter of the innocents did occur, I think, but I doubt Herod the Great, or Herod Antipas, had their own private Roman armies.
Does anyone have any info on that?
Yes, I thought that was an historical mistake in this production. Couldn’t believe Antipas would be allowed Roman soldiers for his sphere.
I love John the Baptist
Abner…
👍
If Pastor Robbins pointed out what people missed in that episode of Chosen, then he did not have anything that was clickbait.
Listen to what he says, you may have missed this point.
I was about to watch but I stopped after realising the thumbnail was a fake.
Putting out this series about the Jewish Prince of Peace, just wondering what you guys are doing currently, for Israel, the land of Yeshua's birth.
5:20 - There is evidence out there that Yeshua was actually, an Essene Master and that the Nazarene Sect He founded, was essentially, Essene as well. The dogma of this religion will never acknowledge the possibility of this.
Religion is death, as shown in the chosen via the religious leaders. They loved religion over relationship.
John was of the tribe of Levi, correct? Potentially a Levite priest (an Essene, messianic believers who later moved to Qumran), but the Pharisees hijacked the Temple governance. John, a cousin of Jesus, Mary and Martha related, thus Jesus is also from the Levite priestly line. Ofcourse John and Jesus were a threat to the Pharisees who were more concerned with maintaining their positions of power. All the pieces fit. God is so awesome for doing this this way for us to connect the dots.
I liked this movie .
Does anyone know where is Philip? I didn't see him the entire episode 1
New Philip was walking with Andrew when the disciples were going somewhere after John’s death.
@@aszabat8226 oh I see I didn't recognize him. Thanks
John was never meant to be the way he was only to pave the way which he did
Can you tell me what Joanna relationship with Andrew?
Scripture doesn't speak of one. The writers of The Chosen have taken poetic license, and created backstories, dialogue, and situations that could have happened (or not). I think that it's rather easy to imagine other conversations that occurred among biblical characters, but which aren't recorded in Scripture. The important thing is to get into Scripture so that we can separate fact from conjecture or creative story telling.
Do *NOT* assume what is and isn't factual. The entirety of the Bible is based on *ASSERTIONS*
John wasn't "like" Elijah, he WAS Elijah.
Who is it that is coming to Jesus and telling him John is dead?
I didn't get that either, who was he. I think his real half brother, who also had the name James, but I could be wrong. So please , let's wait maybe someone who really knows, will say.
your thumbnail lied
*_“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes”_* (Malachi 4.5, ESV).
*_“But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist_* (Matthew 17.12-13, ESV).
Why modern Christians want to avoid the obvious is ironic. *_We should be seeking TRUTH, not mangling it to support traditional dogma._* John denied that he was Elijah returned, but Jesus contradicted him. *_Who do you believe more readily?_*
😎♥✝🇺🇸💯
where can I watch it for free?
I think you can watch on utube
@@tammyswatzyna4743 no? they didn't upload the full episode.
The had to get to it because they put it out of order.
And Elijah's *_Karma_* (dying by the sword by which he had lived) was fulfilled with the death of John the Baptist.
*_And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.” And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered them there_* (1 Kings 18:40, ESV).
😎♥✝🇺🇸💯
That would be Elijah not Elisha
Brandon, are you a cousin to Tyler Thompson, writer for TheChosen? You look and talk like you could be related.
I’m not. That’s really interesting, though.
Ok so this was not an episode
Was the scene of John the Baptist laughing and then after being asked why and then saying, "You wouldn't get it" a homage to the final scene of Joker where Arthur Fleck basically said the same thing to the psychiatrist at Arkum Asylum ?
Sounded like Jesus said "Abner".....is he an angelic messenget?
Abner was in the wedding episode
Rabbi to disciple is more like how we see mentor/mentee
Is the Simon and his wife having a child and having a horrific miscarriage and Simon rebelling against Jesus biblical?
The only reference in the Bible that Simon/Peter was married, is that Jesus cured Simon's mother-in-law. And, I can't find anything about Simon going off on Jesus (?)
No.
Brandon sir u are too good I love your English the way u translate thanks ❤
The chosen is mostly backstory. The Last Temptation of Christ is mostly backstory. Nobody seems to like the movie The Last Temptation
I tried to watch the Chosen season 4 tonight after they had said it would be on, and I couldn't find it!
It was on youtube and the app. You can still watch!
The chosen t.v. app is free and the best way to watch it.
So what…
Where can I watch season 4? I can’t find it!
the livestream of the first episode is on the chosen's RUclips channel. They are releasing two episodes a week, the details are in the livestream.
John was not Elijah, each is an important prophet separately. John has read Elijah's teachings. John is the forerunner before Jesus. He and Jesus were both saved from the infanticide of the older Herod and lived to fulfill the scriptures.
While I appreciate the narration, the picture posted to get readers to click on this video was never mentioned or any description given. So I feel this is CLICK BAIT.
I agree, and would implore you Brandon, to reconsider this choice as a deceptive tactic. Click bait is fine IF you’re using genuine content to highlight, however you are not. This image is manipulated to present John as if he’s standing behind Yeshua, with an arrow for emphasis. Not a good look. Sure, be in the RUclips creators community, but not ‘of’ it.
Kinda think its odd however that the show makes it look like John is haunting Jesus.. be nice to see some of Jesus' relationship with the Father i mean i understand making Jesus more humanized but without his Relationship with the Father it stops being Jesus and just a guy who was very wise
🙏🇺🇦🙏
In all politeness, I say to you, my spiritual brother: If you are saying John is Elijah, you are incorrect. John is most definitely not the prophesied return of Elijah.
If I have misunderstood what you said, my brother, I sincerely and deeply apologize.
It doesn't make sense.Jesus had the power to teleport everywhere he wanted.Yet he let John die?
John had to die. Jesus still had to obey the father and His will.
@@poormanwithajob5914 But John sent a message to Jesus telling him what's taking him so long. And Jesus responded to have some patience. He had to go yes but it seemed Jesus got surprised him punching the ground. It's a tv show I know but still I'm observing the information given to the audience.
@David-cs9zo just because you know what will happen, doesn't mean you can't be sad about it. Jesus was not surprised. It was His plan
He didn't die did he? We all are going to pass through the veil. It's how we get out of here to the real world.
At this point, before His death and resurrection, Jesus didn't teleport anywhere, and if the Father didn't will for John to be spared, then Jesus didn't/couldn't save him from his fate. Even John himself said, "He must increase. I must decrease."
I loved how they handled John and going back and forth in time. I didn't like as a Catholic, how they made Mary seem silly when she visited Elizabeth, talking over her and babbling. I will watch it again but my only part I disliked. I look forward to the next one.
Although the same actor portrayed Mary in The Chosen Christmas Story, she was not a giggly 14 year old as in this episode. I went back and watched this in The Chosen app, and she and Joseph were much more believable.
As a Catholic you really need to keep your eyes on Jesus not Jesus plus Mary plus saints plus anything.
Put no other before me I am a jealous God.
Ummm it's a tv show that fills in the gaps in dialog but stay true to scripture when and where it counts
They just might have made Mary that way this time to enhance even more how older Elizabeth was.
Remember it's a show please❤❤
@@cavemanungelis9148 I'm not but Mary was Jesus's mom and he gave her to us on the cross as he gave her to John. I just think you should stick to scripture. Joseph married her and took her into his home, he would have taken her to Elizabeth even if he didn't stay or her Dad. Elizabeth was fine without the giggles. We can see she's older. But I respect why you see things your way. I'm a little cranky over worrying about a health problem of a child. I might have come off too upset.
@@lynnekelley7545 I wont watch that again, it was horrible. She was like a 2024 giggly girl talking about a boy. In the Bible, she was prayeful and said "She was the handmaiden of the Lord" She understood. She knew about Elizabeth, of course Elizabeth would know about her. Even in the earlier show, which was better, they had her ignorant of babies at the wedding of Cana, women knew and saw babies being delivered, animals, but a writer just wanted her to be green. I let it go the way Bishop Barron who loves the show, said too, it's not for every religion but the base is very good . I wish he had the Baptism of Christ in the memories of John but alas it was still wonderful.
I agree, my mouth dropped. I thought having her ignorant of babies was odd but this giggly girl was not cast well. (or directed well) Even talking over her was rude. But I loved the rest 100% and the visitation will always be a rosary favorite of mine to meditate on.
