At the beginning I was very sad 😢 but then I realized that it was written in the book 📕 from our heavenly father the day of our death and Jesus was doing the resurrections according with the instructions of the Father, well this is very complex and complicated to talk about it 🙏🙏🙏♥️

Yea....some of the details in this last violent scene, seem rather rushed. Yes, in the midst of chaos, chaos happens. Shock and disbelief will freeze a person sometimes ( Thomas). But yea....as much as i love and appreciate the writing of this show...not sure about the construction of this scene...I wonder what Jerry Jenkins thought about it? Hmmm

Episode 3 highlighted much of the creative liberty of The Chosen writers. However, it would seem that the ending would be traumatizing and significant enough to make its way into the actual Gospels. Introducing Rama to the story was most likely a way for explain the doubting nature of Thomas after Christ's resurrection. From another perspective, Thomas may not have been more of a doubter than the rest of the disciples...but more a person who is bold to speak what everyone is thinking. Out of all the trauma the followers had experienced, the death of Christ seemed to overshadow anything else they had experienced in their lives up to that point.

At first, when I left the theater, I didn't care for the scene, for it left people talking about something that was extra Biblical. But I can see why they done it, as I am sure this will cause Thomas to be even more doubtful and cynical as he wrestles with why Jesus did not heal Ramah. My daughter-in-law who was only 27 passed away from cancer a couple of years ago, leaving my son heartbroken and stricken with grief. We prayed and prayed for healing, but God chose to heal her in a different way. These struggles are something we all will deal with at some point in our lives, and it's good to see the show tackle these hard issues.

Can you imagine if everyone lived and no one died? I’ve had to accept the fact that my best friend/sister died when she was 32 in a car accident. Never got a chance to say goodbye. I’ve watched my father die of cancer. Then my husband died of cancer at 55. I took care of them both. I did Hospice with my special-needs brother for two weeks in the hospital. I was with him almost constantly. I took care of my mother when she was dying two years ago. It was brutal, but with my mother, we prayed that she would pass on and be out of her misery and her pain. She was 95. I know loss. I know it very well. But not everyone can keep on living. It hurts to lose someone you love. I know that very well. But not no one can survive and live forever on this earth Jesus will come back to get us all, and we will be reunited. That is what I live for.

The previous episode, Jesus declared He came with a sword to create division. And He specifically pointed to Ranah and her father. Ramah dying by sword will ultimately create more division, especially with the Romans. Then there are the season 5 sneak peeks of Ramah's father gathering an anti Jesus posse. So, Ramah dying by sword goes back to Jesus' words.

    Thanks Eli,
These extra-Biblical stories might not be an accurate telling of scripture, but they do carry a truth. Each time we get a new one, there are any number of responses from viewers who can identify with it, it has all happened to someone at some time. There are always those who feel seen because their own story is in there somewhere.
I'm beginning to wonder about the David flashbacks we keep seeing. We've had a series of these and I'm starting to wonder if this will follow through to Solomon / First Temple or something similar.

Most people are not comfortable with the death of Rema but i think since the bible doesn't mention Thomas as a married man its okay and definitely something could have caused thomas to doubt . so the death of Rema is the birth of doubting thomans

The last scene was actually kinda lame. So Thomas is trying to get Ramah to safety by taking her toward the danger, bumping the guy holding a massive sword then stares at her for what seems like forever. I know a lot of people cried and found it moving while I was scratching my head in confusion. It honestly looks(and I know that's not the case) like it was planned. As in Thomas wanted to take her out by leading her directly to the danger like a horror film. We've love the episodes so far but that last scene seems like it was not thought out at all.
"Hey.... there's a crazy guy over there swinging his sword at people. I think we should walk toward him and bump him so we can make him mad"🤦‍♀️. He doesn't react at all until she's gone. It was so weird!!

I was thinking the same thing.....while Rema could have been killed in that scene, having Thomas walk right by a raging Roman, in the midst of a chaotic scene, seems to lack foresight, even as I did not think he wanted her killed. There had to be a better way to orchestrate that scene than walking right by Quintus...especially when so much of the writing and acting has been so well done.

In verse 14 God tells David the child will surely die, and He tells him exactly why the child will die. David's sin with Bathsheba doomed their child; mankind has free will and God will not interfere with that. He allows what we allow, but no one wants to face that; it's easier to just blame God.

John 10:11-13 reads “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep."
This scene at the end of episode 3 makes Jesus look more like the "hired hand", abandoning the sheep and running away... especially because the ones left behind included Mary & Ramah. To use another analogy, when a ship is sinking, the captain makes sure the women and children get into the lifeboats first. It is only a cowardly captain that would be first into a lifeboat.
Thomas went back into the mob to at least try to help Ramah to safety. That should have been Jesus.

In my opinion killing Ramah was a very bad decision. She is a fictional character yes, but there is no moment recorded in scripture where Jesus was present when someone died and did nothing. It is not within His character. John 8:9-10: 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)
We read in other accounts that Jesus then healed the servant's ear. So in 2 verses we have 2 reasons why Jesus would have healed Ramah: 1) None of Jesus' followers died during His ministry. He actively protected them. 2) If Jesus stopped to heal the man who had his ear cut off whilst He was being arrested, what reason would He have for allowing Ramah to expire?
Yes, Jesus and God the Father promise us in this world we will have trouble. But Jesus healed the blind, he healed Peter's mother on the edge of death, He healed the Centurion's servant, and Jairus' deceased daughter and Lazarus, and there is no reason to believe He would not have healed Ramah.
So here we have a strange response from Jesus that is uncorroborated by scripture, and this was not the moment to take liberties with the gospels. It's fine to imagine extra conversations, little disputes between apostles, but it is not ok to invent characters, kill them off and make believe that Jesus witnessed and allowed such events.

    • @maryanne8452
      @maryanne8452 6 дней назад +3

Thank you so much for your excellent and biblical response. I am very glad to see that someone else finds serious fault with a storyline that is in direct opposition to God's Word. Yes, it is fine to add "extra" conversations and events that align with the Gospels. But when you add something that opposes God's Truth, you are taking biblical liberties that you have no right to take, as well as promoting false teaching about who Jesus is and what he did. I appreciate that your response includes scriptural support and draws attention to the TRUE nature of Jesus. It saddens me to say, but after this episode I can no longer support The Chosen or recommend it to anyone.

I completely agree with your opinion. I think Dallas wanted to highlight the issue of unjust suffering, including among believers, and the crises associated with it. This is a very important and touching topic. However, I would find it more appropriate and biblical if he had included a story without making Jesus Christ appear to be the one who refused to help.

@@isabelleskiss Exactly! This show will cover the disciples after Jesus' ascension. Why not cut back to Jesus' words about suffering for His name as a flashback as Paul or Peter prepare for their martyrdom and meditate on why God allows suffering? It is important to remind ourselves that in this world we will have trouble, but this was not the way to do it.

I think I disagree with most comments. The purpose of a bad scene is Hollywood's way to shock us, they enjoy that, they live for that, to shock our senses. The Chosen writers planned a way to shock us because they are wanting to be "Hollywood". Success is going to their heads. The killing was not needed anymore than most movies using the F word.

We know tht Peter was the only apostle who was married. Something had to happen to Ramah; a change of heart, her father stepping in; something. The Chosen chose to have her killed in a way that is emotionally jarring, but very reasonable, given the overal plot of God's Word.

IMHO, this fictitious last scene is an insult to Christ’s doctrine and character. It is not Christ’s doctrine or character to contend with anger, incite a riot, and lead his beloved disciples to slaughter. 3 Nephi 11 v29-30, Psalm 23, John 10 v11, Isaiah 9 v6. Truth!
29 For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another.
30 Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger, one against another; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.
Having said that, in general, I’m a huge fan of The Chosen and have loved many depictions of our Savior in The Chosen! Most members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are fans of the chosen because they know, and they are deeply committed to the importance of making Christ known to the nations. That is why so many members serve two year missions and try to live Jesus Christ’s gospel and show the love of Jesus all their lives.
2 Nephi v8 Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

Good to see that someone else noted this portrayal of Jesus as inconsistent with his character given to us in scripture. You referenced John 10:11. Including the following 2 verses (12 and 13), it reads: “I am the good shepherd.

It was made for people with limited exposure to the Bible, tradition, and the writings of the Church fathers. It also gives a less-than-authentic view of how Roman bureaucracy worked.

Jonah was in the fish for three days
Some theologians believe that he died and was dead and came back to life when he was vomited out.
In Nineveh the people believe in a fish-like idol and now a messenger (Jonah) comes who has overcome the fish and death.
Jesus was in the grave for three days and has overcome the devil and death.

Jonah preached to gentile pagans and they repented without even knowing the name of the Lord and yet Jesus says the Jews, God's chosen people can not even recognize their own God standing in front of them preaching to them to repent. They are worse than their enemies, the people they hate. They will therefore be judged harshly for their lack of faith and lack of repentance.

I'm done with the chosen. I've been a loyal fan although I have taken some things with a grain of salt. Now the grains of non biblical things have turned into a salt pile. This episode was the last one for me. The Jesus I love would not have just looked at Thomas and merely said I'm sorry. He would have taken him in His arms. They portrayed Simon as having more compassion than Jesus
It wasn't the fact that she died, it was how they portrayed Jesus added to many Un biblical things ive noticed such as Matthew helping Jesus "write" His message. Do you honestly think Jesus needed help??? When you play with the bible like they are doing...twisting things to make it likeable.... I'm done . I couldn't sleep at all that night because of how they portrayed Jesus as mouthing I'm sorry but just standing there looking at Thomas...He has always comforted me when I am in distress. This show has been subtle but we have sat and been fed subtle untruths in the name of entertainment. I know alot won't like what I've said but I don't care . There is one truth and that is the bible and they have slowly been feeding us lies mixed with truth.

Not Ok with their decision re: Ramah. It didn't happen. No offense, but why should I trust you? I disagree that it was "a good thing". I think it was a critical error and has cost (at least my) faith in their ability to accurately portray the events of the Bible. We already know that God allows suffering. I think that's been made very clear in the last few years, no? THis was an unnecessary trauma to the actress and the audience who are already traumatized by the goings on of the real world. How about just sticking to the Word? Dallas, your opinion doesn't matter. Sorry, but it's true. Not a word would be added or taken away. Frankly, I feel that The Chosen team needs our prayers for having offended God in this episode. And all Jesus can say is "Sorry." ? Really? A terrible decision. I have really lost interest in the show. Bad move.
