- In this video im repairing a Dell Inspiron 14 P147G
The hinge mount on the top screen cover has failed and the plastic has pulled away from the metal cover, im going to glue this back down

Thanks dude, the right hinge on my wife's 7415 failed in EXACTLY this way after 14 months. She's been extremely careful with it. Anyway I've fixed it now thanks to your video so I'm in the good books. I used the superglue + bicarbonate of soda hack (there's lots of videos on this elsewhere) for an extra strong bond. It's a real shame about these laptops, they're otherwise nice little machines but that hinge is a disaster - a quick google shows this is an extremely common problem. Dell should probably create a special free repair program for this specific issue, it's clearly a design defect, but I won't hold my breath.

Thanks so much for this awesome bit of advice! Worked like a charm the 2nd time (of course the first timeI hoped it would stick after 10 minutes). Glued 2 square inches of paper to the lid, may or may not come off all the way, but for now it's just adding a little more character to my frankentop. I've always been happy with my Dells and I didn't want to make this one a convertible desktop after only a year. I knew the stinking hinges would be a problem since the first week I bought this little puppy a year ago. Thank you very much! I don't subscribe to a lot of channels but I'll subscribe to yours. AWESOME

Great video ! for anyone who wants to go deeper you can easily remove the LCD screen by pulling the black tabs (carefully) screen comes right off.

Very helpful video and i think that the screen in this model is a sandwich with the external metal cover...anyway i glued it but didnt work...anyway thanx for the tutorial!

Does anyone know if you can get the Plastic frame insert / Hing mount assembly? Mine is completely mullered and a solid repair is not an option.
BTW the pull tab is just outboard of the hinge body. The tabs are incredibly small and difficult to see
it will probably exist but might be part of the "lcd cover assembly"
My laptop have problem that it is creating click sound while opening is it same

Question, is that laptop a 2-in-1? (As in, it also works a as tablet, with a 360 rotation).
Also, did the laptop turn on and did you find any trouble opening it at 90 degrees?

It is and I just double checked, it works with the glue. Just have to glue down the bezel on the right side (it ain't pretty)

My first Dell laptop doesnt have this issue and its over 10years old.
I have the exact issue with my Inspiron 7415 2-in-1. (bottom right hinge). I haven't been folding the screen due to the seperation of plastic in that bottom corner and now Im forced to have bad posture. Anyway Dell being a reputable company would surely offer help with this design flaw?

@@promican2684 Holly shit I'm back online, not sure if Dell had antthing to do with the repair. The retailer JB HI replaced the screen under warrenty.
