I can 100 % vouch for this 360 hinge form factor, although this particular laptop is very underwhelming. If you want to just consume content on the go, the tent and tablet modes will make the device's footprint much smaller. For example I can watch videos in my very small kitchen while cooking because of the tent mode. Personally while the naming scheme may have people confused on what chip they are getting, it seems a better solution than 4 separate chips with just haphazardly lowered core speeds and cache settings to create some kind of segmentation for no reason. I get why Intel does, they have production that will allow them to have millions of CPU's per sku. AMD not so much and it doesn't seem to be the type segmentation they are a fan of doing.

My dell inspiron 5585 w/amd3500u also freezes. I think its the chipset or imature motherboard drivers. People online point to problems with sleeping or using additional displays. This freezing while reorienting or being left alone during filming sound similar.
[Fixed] I got the "amd chipset software". I had to get the old driver whose name ended in an acronym like ofwm. ¿The old driver was supported by microsoft while the latest was not yet? Im on 3.10.08.506 as of dec12,2021. Any newer drivers shouldnt have this problem.
found a fix i had to reinstall the amd chipset drivers. the latest version i had was not supported by windows..... for real. no more freezes or stalls as it sleep or adds a monitor.
The price isn't great compared to the Vivobook the 5500u is $529 and $799 for the 5700u. The only major benefit the Inspiron has is USB DP charging vs DC jack on the Vivobook, and a larger battery 42 vs 54. The price difference is significant, getting the 5700u Vivobook with 16GB of ram and 1TB of SSD for the cost of the 5500u 8GB 256GB Inspiron is a large upgrade.

I think it's better to think of as the 5500u and 5700u as a 4600u and a 4800u you can actually find. Like Zen 3 U-series, a Zen 2 U-series processor with SMT was impossible to find last year, and towards the beginning, Zen 2 barely existed at all. There is a model of Zenbook 14 that has a 5700u and MX 450 GPU. That might be worth getting over this.
I bought Dell inspiron 5406 2 in 1 way back in 2020 and the laptop was great but it was always suffering from BSOD problem, Dell Support assist, My Dell, My Dell not opening, Microsoft store not installing apps issues. Even fresh installation of windows 10 didn't solve the issue. But now after some updates it was fixed. Dell really has some work to do. They have great hardware but need to work on their softwares though. After installing windows 11, the problem was fixed except the laptop was getting very hot, battery life shortened by about 80%. Like I get 6-7 hrs in windows 10 but after installing windows 11, the battery life was 1-2 hrs. This was tested with light tasks like watching videos, doing tasks like powerpoint.
Does this power throttle on battery to get those screen on times? It would be good if this is mentioned so that anyone that buys this to do intensive workloads on the go will know that they will have a much worse experience than on a Mac or Intel machine? Still not sold on 2-in-1 devices as they are rather awkward when used as a tablet. The glossy low nit display makes this a deal breaker and hard to recommend to anyone that needs a laptop for the go. As for Dell, I may have been unlucky but I have had multiple laptops fail over the years and I feel that their QC is hit and miss. Def not in my short list especially with OLED 2K 90Hz machines coming soon and also the new 12th gen Intel. Easy no buy IMHO.
Looking to buy this laptop but dell's website says it has 1 USB 4.0 type C with power delivery + display port is their a way to confirm this ? Your review says otherwise.
I am using the unit with Ryzen 5 5500U. It has USB C port for data + power delivery. Bought a USB C Hub to connect to USB C port (to connect HDMIs, USB C or USB A or micro SD etc). Only snag is, due to the USB C hub, 65W charger delivers 57W. So, I bought an extra USB C charger of 90W. Now, no problem at all. Added more ram to 16GB and increased the storage to 1 TB (Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB). All working well indoor. 👍
i bought dell inspiron 13 2-in-1 laptop in 2016. still using it in 2021 albeit only for light use in gaming. and school work. even in first month i got it the touchpad is wonky, nowdays the touchpad 95% of the time not working. the only saving grace is i can use the touchscrren to tap on stuff... the keyboard is great but then this year is started going wonky as well. i would suggest others to wait review from other long time users before buying it...... to see if they havent improve on previous failure, then it is not worth it...
keep in mind, it could be a great machine for its price, if only the touchpad and keyboard issue is fixed. after all i ve spent four-five years on the machine.

@@cameronbosch1213 Well, actually, compared to the previous generation of this, with the 4000U series APUs, Dell did fix the heatsink design. but then they went backwards by removing a dedicated power connector, making the trackpad worse, and adding more mysterious freezing.
I have the 2020 version of this. Only difference is that it has the 4500U which lacks SMT so only 6C/6T. Spec'd like the 5500U mentioned earlier in the review. I have been enjoying it. Only made 1 video with it with Resolve just to see how it performed, definitely not what this was made for. Only in a pinch when on the road. Gaming was alright but no AAA games, get a dedicated GPU.
I got the Lenovo flex 5 core i7 11gen Invidia mx450 16gb ram .. It heats while using Chrome... The hole device is made of plastic and it does not give a premium look .. It is not build for durability. The hinge is not supported well , you are forcing the screen to rotate ..
I just returned a very good priced asus zenbook flip 13 oled 16/512 model and the issue I had with it was that the 16:9 screen just dont work as a tablet. It is simply to narrow. So returned it and am waiting for the ms surface pro 8 or maybe I will snap up an asus flow x. As this has an 16:9 screen it will also be a bad tablet experience.
I love my Asus ROG Flow x13, just be aware that there is a model with an on board 3050 Ti (still not great for gaming, but at least it now supports DLSS) at the same price as the original model ($1500) but it isn't with the XG Mobile; that $2800 bundle still has the 1650 GPU on board... Also know that the serious BSOD bug I mentioned elsewhere in the comments effects every Windows 2 in 1 with Edge at the moment (although it's software related).
I have the previous gen of this, with a R5 4500U. There were only two things I didn't like about it, and those were poor cooling, and poor screen brightness. I see that this newer generation has developed track pad and USB problems. It has also lost its barrel power connector, while not gaining anything, and trading its full sized SD card for a micro SD. I also see that Dell has upgraded the cooling with dual heatpipes. The previous gen only has a single heatpipe, which was inadequate. I don't think I've every had my 4500U version ever completely lock up on me, or have any of the issues you ran into. I'm kinda happy I didn't wait for the newer gen.
This is what I've been looking for - a 2-in-1 with Ryzen 5000. Thanks for the review.

PLZ REPLY I bought a i5 512gb version. It's just a day old. I turned it on now and it doesn't work. Like it's so slow setting took 20 minutes to open. Any idea what's wrong?
Prob driver issue
@@SiegeOfShanghai yes lmaoo there were no drivers in it at all loool
I wish these 2-in-1s came with a 16:10 screen minimum, preferably 3:2.
I know this one. Someone brought one in to the repair shop I work at yesterday because they shattered the screen the day they bought it.
I have an inspiron 14 2in1, a last gen one I got on sale for like 650 with a 4700u, 16gb, and a 512gb ssd. It's a good laptop, but I wish I spent the extra money on something with a better screen.
This is confusing as some reviews cite this as having 100% srgb. Are you in the States? I'm in the UK.
The 5500u model is 550 currently pretty tempting gift for someone.
I'm in college right now and the only use for me of a laptop right now (and for the next 3 years) is going to be attending online classes and givinf presentations. Maybe watching Netflix sometimes.
I've been thinking of getting the 11th gen i5 processor, 512GB variant.
Will it be enough for what I'm intending to use it for?
Does the standard imperon have a better display?
Your reviews are so good to watch. Waiting for Acer SWIFT X review. I hope you will make that review soon.
With my XPS 13 I had Dells Power Management program installed by default which was my only option for getting different power and fan profiles. Not liking the 'force' dell ecosystem out of the box but the XPS is still great considering I got it as a Black Friday sale last year.
How is the new Inspiron 14 2in1 7730U? Can you please make the video of that ?
I love you hoodie!! Where can I get one?
I have the same model Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Laptop (AMD 7) 16/512 everything is great but if the charger is plugged its getting hot and laggy any solution?
Hey, I am confused to buy between inspiron 14(2 in 1 )7000 series and inspiron 15 (2 in 1) 7506 or hp pavillion x360 15/14 would be better than the inspiron's??
Also does small screen cuz more stress to eyesight??
Could you please help me out?
Pls review the Pavilion Aero as well Eber!! 🙏🏻
wait.....so you're saying you cant go into control panel and create a powerplan?
what he says: "affordable"
what he means: "affordable for rich people"
Dell is a joke anyway. They half-ass their Intel products. Why? Well, guess who is Intel's biggest customer... 🙄
Like when LTT has budget laptops and they start at 1500 lol
@@WayStedYou Oh, don't get me started on "back to school" laptops that in reality start at $1500... 🙄
@@WayStedYou how dare u, the start was only like 500... still out of most students budgets xD
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS Oh I agree. I was just joking that tech reviewers are often not grounded to their viewers.
Sorry, I think that your windows installation is very screwed up... I own the 1165g7 version of this laptop and I never got a single one of your problems (neither USB, no power profiles, touchpad or random freezes) both on windows and linux... And my display gets 82% adobe RGB, and about 330 nits...
Did you use the pen with edge?
@@cameronbosch1213 You mean the browser? If yes, no I akways used firefox
@@gioelebezzan2351 Good, because Edge has that issue.
@@cameronbosch1213 Never noticed... Like I said, never used edge if not for downloading firefox... And BTW I use Linux all the time, Windows has disappeared from my life in the last 5 years, fortunately
Nice review.
I'm holding out for next year's HP Envy 14 which might come with a Alder Lake CPU and 3050TI.
Hopefully it delivers big.LITTLE efficiency with RX 580-class gaming performance for $1250.
Would love to see more laptops with bright, accurate 14.5-inch 16:10 displays though. 👍
You are correct about their poor QC issues, especially their trackpad issues.
What a cool hoodie! ;)
Nice sweater! I like it.
@@nurnabilah1921 The touchpad QC on Dell Laptops has been HORRIBLE recently; stay away from them.
You might check to see if the battery is swelling and causing these issues.
I'm just unboxing it for my mom, and I just experience that unease feeling with the track pad so yeah, we're getting a mouse!
Is the regular 14plus good ?

Do i need authenticated graphics card to run software like matlab, hysis or python?
Or integrated graphics is okay
Witch one is much better amd Ryzen 5 16giga ram 512 ssd / i5 16giga ram same 512giga both 13th generation
Would u recommend this for 4k video editing?
It only has a 1080p display, it can process 4k video, but you won't be able to see it in 4k.
Hp envy x360 is better than this ?
you should check out the lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16; 5600H, 16gb ram, 16" 1440p 120hz 350 cd/m² display and the option to put in a 1650 or 3050. they start at about 750$
Why is this discontinued?
@@EvanBurnetteMusic its not discontinued as far as I know
Zenbook memory is soldered and not upgradable whereas you can add more memory to Dell Inspiron 7415.
I just love this guy
1. Serious heating issue. (Weird Exhaust)
2. Battery Life is Poor.
3. Track Pad is way too rough
4. Pressing Track pad button gives a cheap feeling.
Idk what everyone is talking about. Just bought this for work and its great and user friendly. Sure it gets a little warm, all electronic devices do. Or if it breaks this and that, and the automatic decisions on the OS. You can reject them. And the display looks good and it feels like a smooth lap top, and its pretty quick too. yall trippin, spoiled asses

So this or surface laptop go ? both same price for me here
I think all those issues related to the processor! I think it's doing better with Intel i7 11th Gen.
I hope Dell watches this review and get to improve their AMD offerings.
Of course they won't. If Intel loses their biggest customer, they will not be well off! 😂
@@cameronbosch1213 Well, actually, compared to the previous generation of this, with the 4000U series APUs, Dell did fix the heatsink design.
but then they went backwards by removing a dedicated power connector, making the trackpad worse, and adding more mysterious freezing.
I think waiting for Lenovo Flex 14 might be a good idea. 🤔
Battery life ?
I have the 2020 version of this. Only difference is that it has the 4500U which lacks SMT so only 6C/6T. Spec'd like the 5500U mentioned earlier in the review. I have been enjoying it. Only made 1 video with it with Resolve just to see how it performed, definitely not what this was made for. Only in a pinch when on the road. Gaming was alright but no AAA games, get a dedicated GPU.
5500u is zen2 with firmware upgrades only, not too bad but still lags behind proper zen3
Please do a review on the LG Gram 16
I got the Lenovo flex 5 core i7 11gen Invidia mx450 16gb ram .. It heats while using Chrome... The hole device is made of plastic and it does not give a premium look .. It is not build for durability. The hinge is not supported well , you are forcing the screen to rotate ..
And then I noticed the hoodie drawstrings
Does anyone know what that mountainous wallpaper is? It looks so cool.
Lenovo Yoga 7 Gen 6 (5800u) seems to be more attractive pricewise.
0:26 MacBook Air with M1 chip costs less than $1000 too.
model?
idk if this is a bug but the display color have a lil bit of issues that gray color looks a bit bit bit orangey
2 and 1 are god tier
Damn. Dell really dropped the ball on this one.
