I loved it as a young teenage girl...Kings Cross all nighters and Windsor Festival....Few bands have me as spellbound on board the Mothership 4 so long... I'd go anywhere to see them again....So good even without the Strawberry fields...xx xx
@@LeeGee I know Lemmy's a legend and all, but before he joined Hawkwind, he'd never as much as touched a bass guitar. But Ali is phenomenal. Easily the best bassist Hawkwind ever had.

wonderful, discovered it today for the first time. This is HAWKWIND which I alway loved! A fantastic lineup in the 90s... Saw them in Bochum twice in that year. Great moments.
Even without Simon House on violin the EPIC Golden Void still resonates and propells the listener into a better mood , truly awesome music worthy of a moon landing .
Having seen Lemmy with the band at least two dozen times I beg to differ, he and Brock had a nearly telepathic understanding of where a song was going.
@@angrybird1018 I didnt see them in the early days (not old enough ) lemmy says about that on the bbc documentary , he said Daves the only person he had been able to do that with .

This is a great find. I’ve not seen this before. I saw HAWKWIND around this time (early 90s) with Sleep opening, at the Limelight in NYC and it changed my world.
found this by accident, still prefer the Lemmy Hawkwind , no disrespect to Alan Davie meant. My first experience of hawkwind was around the Harrison period which was I suppose Ammon Duul 2 etc, great stuff
Shame the sound and picture quality aren't that great but musically there's some really strong performances. They were down to a 3 piece for the Electric Tepee tour in 1992 and were outstanding .... they performed hidden behind a huge "muslin" tent on which the light show was projected. Remember singing along to Mask of Morning amazed I knew the lyrics to what was a "new" song for the tour .... turned out to be the lyrics for Mirror of Illusion from 69/70 ... D'oh!
Me too, I think I left my brain at one of them (12 hour Technicolour dream 1991)...often wondered if I could go back (to Brixton Academy) and peel it off the back wall there (and return it into my skull!) 🤪
Like all long distance journeys through time and space the members of the mothership will change through disagreement boredom and ultimately death as the years revolve one by one they are jettisoned into the dark depths of deepest space the soundscape vapour trail these cosmonauts leave in their wake have become folklore to those left behind on planet earth we hear them loud and clear across the decades ,as the broken barricades of discordant voices are silenced , discerning ears are tuned to interstellar vibrations of Hawkwind .
I thought i was going to see them at a small one day free festival in cheltenham 1971. They turned up drove two white mercedes vans through the crowd had a chat with someone then drove away. Probably couldnt be bothered to set up for the small crowd......
Shame such a "fly on the wall" docu was never made during the band's most prolific mid 70's period..... 6:17 ,,this sounds too much like a mix from studio material ,Brock's voice sounds double tracked here....
Nice documentary thanks. Best band ever. Shame there's no Simon House who was around a year earlier. He takes them up a level or two. Glad Nik Turners ego isn't there (though he was a great part in the early 70's,) and glad it was before the worst Hawkwind member ever joined, Ron Tree. Him trying to sound like the one and only Calvert is embarrassing. Also glad they had moved away from the much blander rock stuff of the mid 80's. Long live the captain

Interesting, apart from the speeded-up play-backed _'Assault and Battery'_ .Don't believe for a second that was completely live. "Fan made"... my ass.....This was official 90's Hawkwind product. The studio enhanced sound quality is a dead giveaway...The voice most certainly isn't live. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's accepted practice to clean up these _live_ performances, which goes back as far as _'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out'_. 35:40 Now that *_IS_* live. If you compare that with the preceding sound........ It's a good thing these guys were mostly in the dark, so they could get away with anything. That yapping dame is a shame too....
What!? Nik Turner is the spirit of Hawkwind, 'Master of The Universe', 'Brainstorm' etc. This is a good video but for me it was just before they really lost the plot and were more or less a trio for a few years. It started getting good again when Ron Tree joined.
StarryLighthouse Ok, I'll give you that, I like Electric tepee but Palace Springs was bad and Space Bandits was awful, as for 'It is the business ....', that was utter crap. I don't like to diss Hawkwind, I love em! My comment was more to do with sticking up for dear old Nik Turner who recently delivered a great album.
