I'm not sure, it's worth testing. I couldn't figure out a pattern when I was playing, I just kind of guessed which side he was going to. It's possible to use the smoke bomb through his hand after he places it on the table before any cards come out, but it's only like a 2 frame window and it's hard to pull off, so I didn't try it.
wamazing 213 during the three phases where the candy minions attack you, smoke bomb is pretty affective. And on the last phase, where the candy castle pukes a candy cane ball at you, smoke bomb also works... so that’s a yes with me!
