Upper-crust executive Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd) and down-and-out hustler Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy) are the subjects of a bet by successful brokers Mortimer (Don Ameche) and Randolph Duke (Ralph Bellamy). An employee of the Dukes, Winthorpe is framed by the brothers for a crime he didn't commit, with the siblings then installing the street-smart Valentine in his position. When Winthorpe and Valentine uncover the scheme, they set out to turn the tables on the Dukes. #moviereaction #moviereactions #firstimewatching #firsttimewatchingmoviereactions #firsttimewatchingmoviereaction - Кино
For the record, Don Ameche, who plays Mortimer, was very uncomfortable about the language his character used when referring to African Americans. He was originally supposed to use the “n” word more than once in the movie but refused. He apologized profusely to the crew after the one scene he did say it, even though it was scripted.
Yeah I can imagine being a tough thing to do when you have morals and understand human decency lol He did a great job thou and wouldnt have been mad for him to push it, but the couple of times served its purpose
Five dollars?
Maybe I’ll go to the movies......by myself. 😂😂
Love that line.
Maaaaaan I would of been pissed! Lmao
Easily one of my favorite movies of all time. I watch it every Christmas, raised my kids watching it too. Ppl wanna talk best Christmas movies, this one gotta be in the mix 💯😂
I really like how Valentine starts to better himself as soon as he starts his new life. He checks himself against swearing, uses more polite terms and applies himself fully to the job at hand.
sometimes some people just need the opportunity! Hopefully you enjoyed my reaction!
@@TheRealMovieManGreg I like the kick you get out of the 'yeah' guy in prison. My friends and I break that out any chance we get, to this day....it's never 'yeah'....it's 'YEAH' in the deepest voice possible.
Dannnnggg...I can't believe you guessed the bet amount. Good job! 👍
Great reaction mate. Love the no intro. Just right into it. That's how it's done
Trying to cut as much fluff as possible lol, Im glad you appreciate the reaction!
@@TheRealMovieManGreg there are a lot of people who don't like fluff. I always think yeah get to the point, some reactors talk for like 2 minutes before anything happens including having the gall to want a like and subscribe before they even started reacting lol
I skip most intros. Pro tip: Use the left and right arrows on the keyboard to toggle forward or backward 5 seconds, Space Bar to pause/play
Coleman was rich himself, heir to the colemans mustard fortune he just liked to cook... Kidding Everytime i watch this though all i can think of is the old ass can of colemans mustard powder my grandma had in the cabinet that looked like itd been there since 1940 and was still almost full. Anybody else have a relative that had a can of that in the cabinet but never got used
That's so funny! For some reason I do the same with side characters. I wander about in my mind about their back story. When I saw this movie as a kid, I thought of Coleman camp stoves, and never really cared much more about it until now.
"Ain't NONE O' THEM wash their hands!"
They weren't relieving themselves. They were all doing cocaine. (It was years and several times seeing this movie before I realized that)
Daaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnn lmfao 🤣 😂😂😂😂 I’m weak!!!!
Eddie Murphy was 22 years old when he made this movie.
My favorite childhood comedy!
You gotta see boomerang or bowfinger those are some of I think Eddie Murphy’s best and funniest performances
Definitely on the list! Just not sure when as of yet but hopefully soon, Glad you enjoyed the reaction! Just posted another one today which was another classic I feel!
Boomerang definitely. That's a black movie classic.
It goes like this….
They made Duke & Duke poor in Trading Places and then in Coming to America he hands them a lot of cash in a brown bag as they are homeless sleeping in the street
The one in the ape costume is the principal from The Breakfast Club
And the two forklift guys became famous. One was even a successful politician!
Once you get yourself a "Yeah!" man, you will never go back to an ordinary "yes man".
The cop with the "penis head" is Frank Oz. He's the voice of both Miss Piggy and Yoda, for real. Listen to his voice in the scene again and you'll hear it.
Be careful how you talk about that officers head young man. LOL That's Frank Oz. AKA Yoda. The original Grover, Aka Super Grover, Bert, of Bert & Ernie. Also Fozzy Bear, Miss Piggy, & Animal, among others.
$80 000 a year in 1983 would be equivalent to $225 000 today in 2022.
This movie came first... then "Coming to America".
Nicely done Man 👍 You really Got this awesome movie…and enjoyed it rather than spoiling it with lots of explanatory dialog …thanks 🤗
NO THANK YOU!!!! Im glad you enjoyed my reaction! Hopefully see you around on future ones!
Loved that movie. Hope you doing good
Im doing Great, feels good that I have a little more free time to put out content! Glad you enjoyed the reaction! Just posted another classic as well!
@@TheRealMovieManGreg very good. Will check out later
Brilliant movie, u were spot on with the one dollar, glad u kept all the bits in….hope u have done bev hills cop trilogy with Eddie.
I appreciate your take and not judging it first off by todays standards but even so this was not normal back then it was pushing it even then. That was the point! saying the n word and the condescending attitudes etc... you must watch Coming to America if you have not seen that! there is a connection :)
11:07
Yeah, Frank Oz (voice of Yoda, Bert, Mrs Piggy, Fozzie Bear & Grover, etc) ‘s head does kind of look like a glans.
Yea I feel like I need to apologize to the legend lol. I had no clue!
YEAH! 🤣
Now go watch "Coming to America" and pay close attention ;D
Ive seen coming to America 100's of times, it was one of my favorite movies growing up, but it has been may 10 years since ive seen it, I may do it soon!
I can’t believe you edited out Jamie Lee’s chest. TWICE!! SHAME on you!!!!
HEEEEY NOW, im not trying to get banned from youtube LMAO
Hardly anyone really understands the stock market scene, just seems like mass confusion.
Right!!! Just looks crazy!
The basic jist is that while the price was stil high, the duo was selling "futures" (something they did not have yet, but a promise to sell a fixed amount with a fixed price), then after all the commotion when the actual price was down, they bought all the shared they need to cover their "futures". So now they can sell high something they actually bought very low. The difference is the profit they got. They made themself rich. Dukes on the other hand had bought a lot of shares when they were expesive, and now had to sell them really cheap, which is a huge loss for them. They did not have enough liquity to cover those expenses, so everything they own got taken away from them as payment. They got poor in an instant.
