    I've always enjoyed looping and here you'll see all the different LEVELS you can achieve from a single stompbox.... It's amazing really.

    Your video comes at a perfect time for me as I'm looking for a new looper pedal. The particular feature I'm having trouble finding in a looper pedal is quantize. or a "snap to grid" function as you'd find in a DAW which automatically aligns the beginning of each layer you add to the beginning of the measure. Does the RC5 do this and if not, do you know of another looper that does? Thanks

    • @AlexHutchingsMusic
      @AlexHutchingsMusic  3 года назад +3

      Yo man, yes this does have exactly that... You can predetermined the tempo and set it to loop in a one 2 3 4 bar phrase for example or simply set it to quantise too... So hopefully that'll help you out mate. ;-)

    I finally decided to purchase a decent looper for the firs time, and i kinda wish i waited a little. i have NO clue on how to use this very well at all, and the instructions leave quite a bit to be desired. I wish there were some decent "how to" video's on the RC-5 specifically , but there isn't any yet. That is why i wished i waited a while, so i knew how to use it!!!
    instead i get to fumble around and stare at the manual and check back on RUclips every few days and hope someone has added a how to video, but nothing yet. BUMMER!
    I know this thing has some serious capabilities, but i just dont know how to do much of it... Someone please do a thorough instructional video please!!!!!

    Great demo!! I have some doubt. I come from the infinity looper and I change few days ago to the boss rc 5 because I reduce the side of my pedalboard. I use ableton as a midi master clock for the looper and I use to Record at the start of the next measure after the switch has been pressed. That's work perfect in the infinity but I don't see this option in the Boss. Is a basic feature with midi so probably I don't find the way in the menu. How can I do this or similar with the RC 5?

    Here is the question I need answered. My trio has been using the Digitech stereo looper and we have created about 50 percussion tracks on that device. I also have these 16 bit 44.1 WAV files backed up on my computer. We have switched to creating percussion loops (usually one measure), in Presonus Studio One 5. I am very dissatisfied with the Digtech software (which has not been updated for years) because it will not recognize the SO loops for transfer to a memory location on the looper. I need to be able to copy these phrases over to the RC-5 and have each one assigned to a specific memory location so if I need a specific loop, say a bossa nova rhythm, I can go to that specific location ex. loop # 15, and activate that loop while we play.
    This is probably not the typical purpose of a looper but it works really well for us. 99 memory locations will give us more space than we need and loop length is not a consideration. We just need to be able to bring up a specific phrase and have it loop as we play. Can that be done with this device thru the USB connection and is there software that comes with the RC-5 that allows that transfer from computer to the device. Thanks.

    • @AlexHutchingsMusic
      @AlexHutchingsMusic  3 года назад

      Hey John, thanks for watching, i've not done this specifically with the RC-5 yet, but I'm 99% sure you can do exactly what you described. I used to do that with the RC-300 using backing tracks made from my computer. It simply showed up as a hard drive and I dragged the files into the relevant memory slot and hey presto..it was in the pedal! So in short yes I reckon this'll do just what you need it too. All the best mate

      @@AlexHutchingsMusic Thanks very much for your quick response. One more related question. . I was just looking at the manual and it says that the device is turned on by plugging the instrument in. However, we just need to connect the RC-5 (as I do now with the Digitech) into my Bose mixer which is then connected to my Bose L1 Compact PA. and play whatever loop we need, all of which will be loaded into the device via the software I can download from Boss.. I also plug my guitar into the Bose mixer. I do not need or want to plug it into the RC-5 but it appears there is no on/off switch. With the Digitech you just turn it on. Do you think if I just plugged a 1/4 cable into the jack with no instrument attached the device would turn on so we could play our loops from the RC-5. I guess if I had to I could plug another guitar in and not play it but maybe there is some "dummy" 1/4 jack plug out there I could use. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond. What did we do before RUclips :)

      @@johnpower2018 I've not got an RC-5 (yet), but it's exactly the same as my RC-1: The unit powers on when you insert the cable into the OUTPUT side, not the input side. If you search for an image of the RC-5, you'll see on the left hand side of the pedal above "OUTPUT A (Mono)" it says "Power On". So if you're just using the RC-5 as a source of backing tracks you should be good, with no need to insert anything into the input side. Then just remove the cable from output A to turn off the unit.

    Hi everyone! I have an issue with RC-5 & Rc-505. When using the loopers as midi clock slave devices, synced to Maschine software, there are glitches / artefacts all over the place. BOSS recommends to turn Tempo Sync off for each track to avoid those issues, but this led to another issue (tracks start / skip bars / stop randomly). SO that was not a solution. I have contacted BOSS about this, they said they tested it with Ableton and it works fine, but in general their loopers dont like to be slaved. However, no matter how i put the MIDI settings on the looper, nothing helps. Is this also the case with RC-500?

    Am I seeing this syncing to midi? I can see a scenario where I can play with a live drummer and have my loop stay in time using a midi beat for us both.

    Holy moly - the only thing missing was the "BUY HERE" link at the end (I"m assuming royalty negotiations with BOSS are underway haha). It looks like you can store your loops with all layers. I noticed you "added" drums. Is it possible to have the drums recorded and stored with your loop/song or it's an add only feature? And most importantly, if you have a link to where we can buy your music, will you please add it?! I'm a huge fan of the body of your work with JTC Guitar. Have you ever considered coordinating with TrueFire? This would definitely provide more accessibility to your teaching to your American fanbase. :-)

      Hello mate, and thank you for your very kind words. In fact I don't have any royalty situation with Boss at all, that would be cool if I did. ;-) Regarding drums, yes I added the inbuilt drums but of course you could prerecord anything you wanted and load it into any of the 99 memory slots... ;-) So acoustic drum kit string quartet or a full track from Slayer or something... Anything you can think of. I've seen some true fire stuff and yes they do look like a cool company for sure.... Thanks for your suggestions mate. All the best

      @@AlexHutchingsMusic Hey by the way do you have a true stereo on your RC-5? I’m asking because on mine there is a little bit of left going in the right channel and a little bit of right going into left channel. Especially on loud volume you can hear it. I don’t really understand is it with all RC-5 or is just mine not working correctly.

    Because there is no auto save when changing memory, it's really limited to a 1 phrase/memory per jam. Yeah, you can stop and press save, but this is FAIL city for if you want play with 2 phrases saved for 1 song/jam. Limits your on the go options.

    Could you possibly develop a step by step video on using the Boss RC-5 "without" the other pedals? It's extremely difficult for me and perhaps others to locate and activate the numerous features/functions of this pedal. Amateur musicians could easily be frustrated and disappointed with the instructions provided by Boss for this looper. I've worked for hours trying to figure out how to use this little looper but so far it's been really disappointing.

    Boss needs to FIX the Drum Volume. There is No Way to Globally Reduce the Massive Drum Volume. I know several people who have nearly-blown-speakers. There should be-a-way to Reduce the Drum Volume on the entire unit. This was a major Glitch.
