What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. To be honest - this comparison relies too much on the availability of thermals at the time of launch and in the direction the model was thrown. As mentioned it would show the difference in ease of handling though, as mentioned.
nice video, with a very detailed comparison. Concerning the ease of spiralling the Vertigo, maybe it's because of the wing joiners that have too much dihedral (if you use 7 degrees). Indeed, I have done tests with f3j gliders and found that gliders with too high dihedral turn less well than the same glider with a lower dihedral. Of course this depends on the wing profile etc. P.S: The Vertigo climbs faster in thermals because its wing profile is thicker. However, it will need more ballast in the wind (this is a theoretical study, therefore not necessarily true but it is based on well-founded physics principles).

@@vsn-po7zq I don't know if I understood your message very well. Sorry my Russian is not as good as my English or French. If I understood correctly you didn't like the 2 gliders? If yes, why? They both have advantages and disadvantages. For my part I don't think the future f5j gliders will change drastically. Indeed, we are already at the limits of the weight/strength ratio so the construction will not be much improved. For the design, the physics limits the possibilities a lot and I think that the current wing profiles are already at the maximum of the possibilities. The various improvements that could be made are the addition of BEC as on the el nino but this adds a lot of drag to the model. I hope I understood your message.
The Vertigo looks like it’s more coordinated in a turn. You might be able to muscle the prestige around more but it didn’t look as coordinated and that’s more “draggy”
What if you launched from a place with some tarmac, like a parking lot nearby... Wouldn't the tarmac generate enough heat to create the thermal lift you are seeking?
Hey, just interested in what controls you use low level like this to 1. Establish the bank/turn and then 2. To maintain the turn. I guess I'm trying to find out if you are mostly using rudder or aileron in these low level thermal turns.
I have about 40% rudder mixed to ailerons. However I use the rudder stick a great deal. Initial bank is with ailerons then I use the rudder stick to try and keep the fuselage level through the turns.
My highly subjective observation is that based on the audible difference in the speed passes, the Vertigo is either cleaner aerodynamically or better sealed. Is the term camber essentially a flap setting? Landing the Vertigo, it appeared there was a generous amount of landing flap, perhaps 25 degrees? I wonder if the Vertigo perhaps gives up some amount of positive dynamic stability relative to the Prestige, thereby accounting for the handling differences you observed. First generation 15m SH Ventuses had neutral dynamic stability, but were superior in performance to ASW-20’s which were more stable. SH corrected this in the V2. Schleicher has stuck with simple dihedral whereas SH and others have adopted more complex polyhedral configurations.

Oh, relax, Micha. He's having a huge amount of fun mucking about with hand-launches and hardly killing anybody at all. He's over-flying because this is a comparison video, not a competition. He's landing early to keep the video moving. Judging by the conditions he could just as easily have been flying a speck in the sky for 45 minutes. Would you still have been watching? I would. I love to 'see' the air at work.
Can't get enough of handlaunch F5J videos.. 🤩 Incredibly floaty models!

Very nice comparison Ali, thanks for sharing. Curious what Vertigo joiners you were using. 5 or 7 degrees?
I use the highest angle joiners 99% of the time.

Incredibly light for the size.

Increased wing camber. Dropping the ailerons and flaps.

Insane models, mind blown 👍
Prestige have better turning and overal handling for me by video. maybe it help to use more rudder in turning for Vertigo.

flat field thermals brother.....its the preferred method for the thinking man /woman.... The fly fishing of the gliding world. :)
What was the breeze direction here?
Very light breeze, shifting directions constantly. Most likely due to thermal activity.
