First time I’ve seen the difference explained so clear and simple. Thank you. You take care and stay safe.
i built a suicide eliminator in the mid '80s.... welded a piece of handlebar to the ratchet top linkage mount, put a hand clutch lever on it with the clutch cable looping back to a short clutch arm, cable stop mounted off the oil tank mount on the seat post.... pull in the lever, move it into gear or neutral.... left foot free.... was first to "free" arm the rear section of early swingarm frames, removing the fender struts, leaned the shocks ahead, used a fender bracket sissy bar style snd clamped the bottom of the fender to the pivot pin area of the swingarm, keeps that whole rear unit self contained and easily
removed , tranny self contained, quick out...
Seems overly complicated and unnecessarily dangerous, but Im not a rider so what do I know.
I want to fit a rocker clutch setup on a 90s / early 2000s sportster haven't seen one yet.
I haven’t either, the mounts would be custom for sure, but should be possible
a suicide setup has no front brake, otherwise it is a jockey setup.
My man, how is running that primary dry? Chain has a decent life?
Allot longer than you’d expect, I do run the breather tube over to it so it gets a pull most the whole time and that seems help. A belt will last longer for sure but I have tons of stock setups to burn though so swapping a loose chain doesn’t really bug me.
Y !!!!
Yes. The correct term is "suicide clutch". There is no such thing as a suicide shift. Just jockey or tank shift.
Hey there bro ! Me Fred from the Netherlands , I instald a rockerclutch on my ,73 shovel and need some advice abouth setting the clutch pushrod, I know on cable operated to set it with some free play ,but with the rocker setup I wrealy need to put tension on the clutch pushrot to make the clutch to disangage ...that can,t be rigth ! rigth ? Let me know your thougts
Fred
Yes I set mine up the same as you would for a cable, id check that you are getting full travel on the pedal. With heel down on mine my clutch is fully disengaged, there might be something either in the pedal or under the oil bag that is preventing full travel. But I’d need to know more about your setup honestly, the type of primary and clutch you are using.
oke bro , stock alu pri case with a barnett clutch in a like stock housing with a multiple bolt alu pressure plate, tuned engine ! I do not use floorboards and I think there,s my problem , You say use full travel , I tried to minimise that couse off not comfertable on the old foot ! thanks for your responce and tell me more ...Fred
Check the length of the pushrod. Some years use different lengths.
the pushrod whas correct for the setup off the motor train , but you think since the rockerclutch is a aftermarket clone it FU ,s everything up ? Migth be the case as I already did some mods to the clutch arm on the tranny to what I think is better...
well, chain driven primary like stock 1973 clutch with Barnett plates and multi stud pressere plate, I do get full travel but with no footboarts but just steps, it,s fu uncomforteble to operate the rockerclutch,so I tried to make the disangage trow as small as posible . is this the problem ?@@843chops
