    If government prevents evictions it should cover landlord losses due to halted evictions.

    I have personally always lived small in life. Small house, keep vehicles for at least 10 yrs+. In years when I made substantially more than avg, I simply put it away, and didn't think, "now I can buy that McMansion!". Nope, kept the small home. Now when times are tough, I have money in the bank to keep living small, with NO disruption to my lifestyle. No credit card debt, house paid for, etc, etc. Live small.

    I'm seeing people daily with all their things in front of what used to be their home or apartment, with Children, and no where to go, let alone put their personal belongings up. I gave a woman a cigarette this morning, before leaving out this afternoon this same woman told my sister how tired she was and had been walking all night to nowhere, because she and her boyfriend had nowhere to go. She said to my sis that she was just going to break a window so they could get in somewhere and rest. My sister advised her not to because she would go to jail. As we left, I told her I didn't feel comfortable leaving with her making that kind of statement, with her seeing us leave. I left and got down the street, turned back around cause I just had this gut feeling. When I pulled back up I saw the security guy seemingly leading them from my area. I felt bad for them, and I'm not doing great myself. But still feel bad for what's to come for so many folks. That could include me. I don't laugh at them, I pray for them. I don't know what we're going to do in this country about this. These evictions are happening at an alarming rate since October 15th. This is sad. Very sad.

    Live in Florida and worked for hotel. Still not working. Rented the last 2 years on month to month bases. Had savings used it up paying bills. Didn't get unemployment until July someone stole my identity and claimed my benefits. Was evicted on Oct. 1 now living in my car with my dog. You can't find jobs and unemployment not enough to pay your bills when you are single. Now I don't have to worry. And there are so many homeless nothing is left to help people. All shelter's are full, they turn away people at the food kitchen not enough food for the demand. I go to food banks and some churches and wait in long lines. The government doesn't care and people don't care until it happens to them. I paid off my car and had no credit card debt. I was doing good before covid-19. It can happen to anyone. I paid the rent on the 15th with the $175 late fee like I told them I would plus a $225 “Legal Fee”! I paid the rent on time this month and they still have an eviction on file for me and I have been at this apartment complex for 7 years! Never missed a payment or went passed 30 days!! • @HeavyMental1000
      @HeavyMental1000 3 года назад +1

      @Cheri Merchant The market decides the rate in which the rate is paid. A landlord who's rates are too high wont have any tenants. In some cases the bank will demand a call on the loan if you charge under the market rate. If you dont like it go elsewhere because in this county no one holds a gun to your head and makes you sign/renew a contract. You are trying to act high and mighty meanwhile, you justify ruining down an innocent party and letting your legislators (the real elites, who suffer nothing) off scott-free. THAT is why you are lazy and a serious hypocrite. Rent control. I already said it. Is it too much to ask of your elected officials before you voted for them? Or is it, that you didn't vote at all?! Because if you did, you have that political leverage. Rich, poor it doesn't matter if you are a resident of that municipality YOU CAN VOTE and then have the right to HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. Its not the landlords responsibility to worry about tenants families, nor is it the tenants responsibility to worry about the landlord's family HOWEVER it is the tenant's obligation to fulfill the VOLUNTARY contract that they signed by PAYING THE RENT. If you act like a adult and shit gets done. Im sick of this easy "you rich so you dont understand" argument. Its just a whiny cop-out when you dont want to do the work. BTW, im in the % 22 percent tax bracket which means IM AM FAR FROM BEING RICH so I dont "judge where you are in life" its none of my damn business.

The second the moratorium is over (Dec. 31?) the last step can be carried out. But the backlog will be horrific. Landlords can file for eviction in many places for reasons other than non-payment. Violation of leases with noise, drugs, trash, damage, unauthorized residents, no utilities, theft, etc. all break the lease if it is done right. Also, non-renewed leases mean that the tenant has to leave even with no violation. Check in your state and see what the laws are if you are trying to evict.

    Concerns regarding evictions should be handled properly, in order for them not to be evicted. The landlords can make their respective buildings or property turned into places of businesses where the tenants can own their respective unit, the way condominiums are managed, they don't get evicted as they are titled unit owners. Places where they reside such as buildings and apartments can be configured/transformed as well into residential,part residential and part for businesses while the construction materials to be used are similar to those of shipping containers where every detail of the structures are realized, its the concept that business owners can own their respective places while making their respective employees permanently housed, since it is all about allocation in the portfolio that it is intended for businesses operation, while making them safe from illnesses and disease, while measures for covid are also implemented. Both private sectors and public sectors have to complete their agreements regarding building, house, property ownership so as to prevent any losses in GDP, to make many employed, while safe, secured from illnesses and make decent income as well as the earnings that is appropriate, proper and just. Too much is too much that many abused the consumers. As a businessman, stockholder, investor, goals are to be completed, realized, forecasted, the way, I, we make forecasts, as well as certainties in every investment, not just of the cash, look always on other sides that is continuously supplied, suppliers, that consists GDP and preservation of them all.

    Getting evicted isn't the end of the world. Friends, family, and private charity should be there for people in need of a place to stay.
    The economy in Vegas does not seem to be able to support all the people living there. If some leave, demand and prices for housing should go down.
    What would really help is doing away with the income tax and reducing the size of government. Payroll taxes are making the poor poorer and reducing incentive to work. Tax consumption instead.

      It we end payroll taxes then social security does not get funded. So if your good giving up your disability insurance or future social security benefits and Medicare then by all means end FICA. Also know if you have parents that depend on SS and Medicare they too will lose those benefits. I’m sure what you save now will not cover what they collect in benefits today. Will you be able to subsidize them on your current salary?

      Most people don't have the extra room. Also, if someone stays with me more than 2 weeks they need to be added to my lease. They must also pass a credit check. It would put my rent up. It would also increase utilities. I can't house other people out of my own pocket. Or feed them on top of it. You must be still young with your parents thinking such things.

    Renters should be treated like the goldmine they are. Then you get loyalty during Covid. Landlords need to stop trying to squeeze more and more out of them and get a real job. It’s always better to have steady renter who keeps the place clean then to make a killing. Of course it’s a business, but you don’t have to be selfish about it. Everyone needs to be happy.

    • @fashiondiva6972
      @fashiondiva6972 3 года назад +3

      Paradise you do get that “being happy” for an owner includes paying their mortgage, right? And they can’t do that unless the tenants pay their rent. It doesn’t have anything to do with selfishness. This isn’t a one way finger pointing exercise🙄 People keep acting like every landlord is some corporate conglomerate. I hate to break it to you but over two thirds of landlords in Clark county are individual, independent owners renting their properties either directly or using a property manager. And they have a mortgage to pay. They literally can’t afford to give perpetual free months of rent regardless why a tenant needs it without risking the loss of the home. They certainly don’t have to do that.

    let look on the bright side (a man facing eviction with 2 younger bros) the rent in my city (Boston MA) has been on a rise and has been inflated by the mass influx of international students coming from wealthy families. many renter groups have been raising the rent as far as they can( more money more apartments can be built) if a mass eviction takes place and no renters to fill in the vacancy. it will lead to another bubble pop and when it pops a lot of opportunities come for lower rents to come through. This time no bailout let these big companies fail. and let new ones be borned.
