Hi there! I swapped my engine on my 06 Mazda 3 hatch back in 2014, and had no issues for six years, I used loctite and torqued everything. I had my clutch replaced by a local shop because it wasn’t worth my time. I drove my car about 1500 miles and the same thing happened. The transmission mount bolt backed out and it cut my power steering line. It also pulled apart the drivers inner cv joint. At first I was a little upset thinking the shop didn’t torque everything. But watching your video has helped me understand that I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. The shop offered to tow my car and fix it for free. I declined the offer and today I’m fixing it myself, cv axle is in and I’m headed down to replace the power steering line. Thank you!

Amazing that the same thing happened to you! Glad you're getting it fixed. Good luck!

@@baxrok2. Exact same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Replaced my clutch and rear main and after putting it all back together and test driving the transmission mounting plate bolt pulled the threads right out of the hanger bracket mounted to the transmission. Engine squatted to the drivers side and snapped the driver side cv axle right at the boot, engine came high enough on the passenger side to cut the power steering pressure line. Seems like this may be a kind of common but rare phenomenon on these Mazda 3's. Very interesting it happened to you guys!

@@steel2388 Wow, that's amazing that it happened to you too. Bummer about your CV but hopefully you got it fixed up!

@@baxrok2. Yep got my new cv and mounts all installed yesterday but I tried to fix the Power Steering line using a coupler and some hose clamps but thing runs at like 400psi and blew my fix sky high so I ordered a new hose today.

Amazing brother. Thank you very much for the video. God bless you and your love ones.
I have a Mazda 2010 leaking power steering as well. I bought the dye to run through the PS lines, 🙈🫣 what a mess.

I found your channel from a comment or two you made on one of Ivan’s videos (PHAD). (The one where he misfired the parts cannon at an Exterra AF Sensor.) I’m enjoying your videos, so I’ve subscribed. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Thanks for the tutorial! Used it to do the job on my Mazdaspeed3, not quite exact but similar enough to work off of and the car has been doing great since doing it. Lot less space to do it, had to snake the lines up and out again three or four times before I got it lined up right

Crazy that the transmission mount would let loose like that. Nice job on the replacement of the hoses.

Nice how the high & low run together... I hate it when they go in different directions. One is always harder to replace than the other.

I was wondering how the hell I'm going to unclamp the bracket for to replace just the return line, and just find out they come in pairs, genius design..... Great Video!!

    Loctite.
Edit: lol you mentioned this as well, i agree it may have just prolonged the inevitable however some blue loctite can never hurt. also i thoroughly enjoyed your videos i have a 2005 mazda 3 that i bought new in 05, i only have 36k on it but its treated me very well. i was 19 when i bought and saved and saved and saved to get it(around 25k). i went away to college a year after buying it and after school i went straight to work in the city, so its never gotten much use. Lately i have gotten the itch to turn it into a project car, its funny because when i bought it all the options were newer technology, pop up navigation, heated seats, xenon head lights... and now they are common place, and in some cases almost date the car.. the navigation while aesthetically still looks great the software def has a dated feel and look to it. Ive always been hesitant to make it a project car because people have bad things to say about the platform, but im leaning towards doing it now.

Excellent video. I know how awkward a fairly straight forward job can be when you're working on the ground outside in crappy weather. I was wondering why you were using a universal power steering fluid rather than replacing the previous red ATF power steering fluid which was in it? I believe ATF is to be used in Mazdas and many other Japanese cars. That would probably explain the frothing in the reservoir.

Thanks for mentioning The torque spec in the video I almost thought you weren’t going to

    • @baxrok2.
      @baxrok2.  6 лет назад

Yes, you've got to torque to spec! Thanks!

Hey man, my mazda 3 2006 sedan has had a power steering leak for serveral years now, I suspect this will be the correct fix for it! Great video. I’m an australian and we have some car scrap yards, wondering if I could pick up an new pressure hose from a place like that? Or would I need another option to get my hands on this part? Cheers

Transmission mount bolts are one time use only, you take it out, gotta out a new one in. Wish you had showed more of snaking the lines

Thanks for the tip Mark. I was going to show snaking the lines but it's so easy that I don't think anyone will have a problem with it.

Hi I have a 2.5 Cx-7 non turbo probably the same engine as the swap you have. I want to perform a quick power steering flush and the reservoir has a seal inside. basically I can't do the turkey Baster trick. What do you think is the best way to drain it? Thanks
